QUESTION: In AUDIO MIDI SETUP, does anyone know how to TRANSFER the AGGREGATE SETTINGS from one Mac to another?
TIP: For those of you who aren't familiar with the AGGREGATE feature in Audio MIDI Setup, try it. This feature can combine several different types of Audio Interfaces into ONE.
In other words, you'll be able to add additional inputs & outputs in combination with other devices by 'aggregating' them. For example, I've tried it with a Zoom H4 (USB), M-Audio Ozonic (FW400), and Apple's Built-in Audio and they all work as one device.
The thing is, there are probably a large number of users who may have USB or Firewire Audio Interfaces, which are no longer being utilized. So, all of a sudden you need some extra I/O for a particular session. Well, use whatever you've got, set them up in Audio MIDI Setup as an Aggregate device, and it 'may' meet your needs... temporarily or otherwise.
For example, there are lot of people who love the Apogee Duet, but feel limited by the number of I/Os. Aggregate a couple Duets together, and you've practically doubled your I/O.
Aggregating devices seems to work quite well in Logic Pro 8x. I haven't tried it with other programs like Garageband. So, let us know if this feature works for you.
Cheers!
