  1. I empathize with your dissatisfaction regarding planned obsolescence, evolving connection standards, and the never ending cycle of upgrades and updates. I have been using stock vintage Stratocaster’s for decades, which will all last well beyond a single lifetime, and all without ever updating or upgrading any component on the instrument, other than a fresh set of strings. Compared to relic Mac Pro’s, will a future incarnation of the Mac Pro be able to increase my creative capacity? Will it be able to increase the quality, ingenuity, and authenticity of my imaginative writing? No. A machine can certainly augment a human’s creativity, but to whatever extent a machine contributes to idea proliferation or manipulation, the resulting work will no longer be a product of genuine individualistic artistry. Thankfully, Picasso never had to ponder that thought. I digress. Use what you have and create amazing music.
  2. Happy Birthday Logic! And a very grateful thank you to Gerhard Lengeling, Markus Fritze, and the rest of the team, both past and present, for the passionate work they have devoted to this music creation tool! I came on board at Logic 2.0, when it came in a large plastic book-shaped container. This was a period when Dave Hunt (from Emagic) would have a floppy disk of a hot fix on my doorstep in a matter of days. That was cool!
  3. Thank you mmm42, Gerhard, and the rest of the crew that made this happen. It is truly appreciated!
  4. What Logic and OS version are you using when experiencing that noise?
  5. Logic Pro X 10.3.2 ISSUE: In the Transform Window, changing a value by click holding and dragging on a numeric value is not working. However, typing in a value works as expected. WORKAROUND: Type in a value. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Select a series of notes in a MIDI Editor (e.g., Piano Roll) 2. Open the Transform Window 3. Choose +-Rand in the Position column 4. Click, hold, and drag on any of the numbers in the input field. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: Values in the input field should increase or decrease depending on the direction of the mouse. RESULTS: Values in the input field do not change.
  6. ISSUE: Step Editor does not display the contents of the currently selected region when the Step Editor is initially opened. It appears to be displaying the contents of a previously selected region instead. WORKAROUND: Selecting the Step Editor's Lane showing the incorrect content forces a re-draw which then correctly displays the contents of the currently selected region. This issue began in the 10.3.2 update.
  7. I've also encountered this intermittent issue quite a few times in various projects since the 10.3.2 update. Some of the graphics elsewhere seem a bit quirky too (e.g., Step Editor not updating to display the contents of the currently selected region). However, selecting the Step Editor's Lane showing the incorrect content forces a re-draw which then correctly displays the contents of the currently selected region. Different issue, but graphics related.
  8. Had to jump in and share my enthusiasm for this feature. A big T H A N K S to the developers that I know are lurking here! Whether or not you prefer this feature, it is a beautiful day in the neighborhood to have the option - WHICH I LOVE!
  9. I love Tweak's history of Logic. It makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside seeing all those screenshots of Logic from yesteryear, and those fat manuals... wow, I treated those like bibles of sorts. I came on board at Logic Audio 2.0 and clearly remember the insane amount of inspired enthusiasm I had when I discovered writing, scoring and recording in Logic without the need of disgruntled band members. I also remember those two massive dongles hanging off of my computer! Those were great times. I remember being able to call the Emagic office about an issue I was having and Dave Smith would have a floppy on my doorstep days later with an update. Humans don't make anything perfect, but for me, Logic sure seems to come close by being an inspiring tool in of itself that allows me to pour out creativity and have it captured in a way beyond what I could ever have imagined.
  10. Yes, happened once. I had a relatively light Logic project go down (using PLAY 4.2) after simply trying to switch screensets. As soon as I hit the key command for a new screenset Logic crashed, which is unusual in that I don't recall that ever happening in the past 20 years. Other than that one occurrence everything is running fine.
  11. I've recently experienced this same issue while using LPX 10.0.7 that I reported in this thread: LPX 10.0.7 - Can't Insert Symbols in Multi-Stave Score http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=106917 Apparently this issue only occurs under certain conditions, as with a new project, or even other existing projects, I can't replicate the issue. Perhaps this occurs due to file corruption or some other variables that I can't pinpoint. While this issue is intermittent with Logic projects, it is persistent with the project it surfaces in. Thanks for reporting the issue rtcstudio.
  12. Logic Pro X 10.0.7 DESCRIPTION: Can't insert symbols (e.g., slur, tie, etc.) into a selected single stave when in Page View or Wrapped View when multiple instrument staves are present. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1) Create several regions (one each on separate tracks) 2) Open the Score Editor in Page View or Wrapped View (showing all instruments) 3) Create some notes 4) Attach a Slur symbol to a note on the selected stave with the Pencil or by dragging the symbol from the Part Box RESULT: The symbol does not appear when inserted, nor is it found anywhere in the score. EXPECTED RESULT: The symbol should appear when inserted into the selected stave. ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: 1) In Linear View the symbol does appear when inserted, but it erroneously jumps to the stave above the currently selected stave. 2) Some symbols can successfully be inserted, like the staccato symbol, but others (such as the slur) cannot. I've already submitted a report to Apple. Anybody else getting this behavior and found a solution?
  13. Solved this by removing the "Adobe PDF 9.0" driver from the printing driver list found in: System Preferences / Printers & Scanners The driver is located at: ~/Library/Printers After removing the Adobe PDF 9.0 driver I am now able to export scores that aren't blank. Just a heads up for anybody else experiencing this issue.
  14. Wow, lucky me. Thanks for checking though David. If anybody else has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks.
  15. Logic Pro X 10.0.7 DESCRIPTION: When trying to save a PDF of the Score Editor via the print command, the resultant PDF is blank. This did not occur in Logic Pro X 10.0.6 STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1) From the Score Editor choose Print (Command-P) 2) In the print dialog select "Save as PDF" 3) Open the PDF in Preview or Acrobat 4) The PDF is Blank ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: • The PDF is blank no matter what view mode is used in the Score Editor. I tried saving a PDF in Page View, Linear View, and Wrapped View and got a blank PDF using each view mode. • I deleted Logic Pro X's preference file • I ran UNIX scripts ( sudo periodic daily weekly monthly ) • I repaired permissions Nothing solved the issue. I am consistently getting blank PDF's when printing from the Score Editor. Any ideas to resolve this? I've already submitted a report to Apple.
