  1. I know you posted this question a long time ago... but have you seen the "alternative" marker list in L8 yet? Exactly what you are talking about.. maybe Apple took this idea from you...?
  2. Exactly... I guess we don't know the magic words for Logic 8 yet? I did find this method also... bummer part (like you said) is its still a very "manual" way of doing this and not much better than just cabling the instruments output to a monitor (like shorelick said... thanks... this is how I have been doing it till i read fader8's post), learning the new definition and then creating event definitions one at a time. I sure hope Apple fixes this soon, its such a fast way to work with hyper edit definitions and I was so excited when I read fader8's first post. Excuse the ignorant question... but what does checking the box do? Thanks again for the reply Mark! defeq
  3. Hello... I must admit I didn't read your entire post so apologies if you talked about this already, but have you clicked the little button on the bottom left of the Ultrabeat sequencer labeled "Full View"? BTW have I mentioned Ultrabeat rules all drum machines? I'm new to L8 and the new "Step" feature kicks loads of ass! It works pretty much just like the parameter locks on my MachineDrum.
  4. Here's how I do that. There may be other methods. Select your ES E track. Draw an empty region. Open its Event List. Open a Hyper Edit window. The Hyper is probably just showing "MIDI Controls" with a Volume definition visible. If not, choose that set. Here's the important "don't skip" step. Select the Volume definition. In the parameters, change the status from Control to Fader. Then change the Channel to "2" and check the Channel box. Draw a ramp in the Vol definition, just enough to give you about 20 or so events to work with. In the Event List, select the first event. In the Number column, grab the number and change it to 1. You should see that the Info now reads Wave. Change the next event to 2, Cutoff, and so on for all 14 events. Delete any extra events. You should have 14. (15 if you want number 0, the octave control). Now, back in the Hyper Edit window, say some magic words, then choose Create Hyperset for Current Events. Boom. You'll see it fills in all the controls with their parameter names too! Almost done. Select each new definition in turn and change its Channel in the parameters to "2" and check the Channel box. Don't forget to name the new Hyperset. So does anyone know why this doesn't work in L8 anymore?? Work like a charm for me in L7 and NO GO in L8! Arrrggg!
  5. Well First I'll say the idea of a universal command set is a great IMO... and the idea of getting the key commands close to the Pro Tools commands is an even better idea (and one I've been thinking about for a long time now). So I think what BT is trying to do is very cool and is received with open arms by me. However I've downloaded BT's set and to be honest they aren't that close to Pro Tools commands (wasn't this part of the idea?). I'm sure they make good sense but they seem to favor BT's personal preferences rather than say the PT standard and even more so his set is missing lots of commands I tend to use a lot (mostly stuff in the environment page). So I'm up in the air with BT's set... on one hand I'd like to start using it and on the other I'd prefer it be closer to the PT commands and I'd still have to modify it a bit like the others here already have. Would be cool actually if there was a sort of committee working on a standardized command set that was built from the feedback of many users before being feed through a review board and then on to a download of a 'work in progress'. This way we'd all have say in this so called "standard" rather than it just being one persons way of working (which is I'm sure a great way of working, but you get my drift I think). Sorry to get all political with it but thats just my thoughts... I hate politics! Cheers
  6. I haven't but I'd too would love to hear from people who are. What solutions for librarian editors are others using? As far as I know Sound Diver is pretty much dead?? And no UB?? Does anyone have any more info?
  7. Thanks everyone for your feedback! All good info... this site is the only site that I've posted this issue that received any feedback... so thank you! Yes thanks downrazor11 the correct site is www.logic-cafe.com And more specifically the download for the groove templates is HERE @ shadowbox - The Logic templates (8A, 8B, etc etc...) are great and might well be taken from the MPC originally, but I like the way these MPC ones are laid out... they have the 8th and 16th note swings in ALL the percentages which is cool for really finding the right one that works for you. Actually would be cool if Logic just had a swing amount knob to approximate this a bit better with the built in groove templates... does it already? I'm kinda new to Logic so I wouldn't know. EDIT: Nevermind... scratch that! I found the the "Extended Region Parameters" which seems far better than just a simple swing amount knob. @ Beastie - I had a look in my project settings/assets but don't see anything settings mentioning "delete folders" just a bunch of copy this and that stuff. Am I looking in the right place? File menu/Project Settings/Assets?
  8. Hello everyone... my first post here. I just ran into an issue last night in Logic 8 and have posted this issue on some other forums with no real feedback yet. I was directed to this forum by a friend and I hope some of you have some feedback for me. (copy & Pasted from my original post elsewhere) I just recently found some MPC 3000 Groove Templates on LogicCafe.com... So I thought "yeah cool! I'll check em out". So I downloaded a file to my desktop named MPC_3000_Q.lso. I double clicked it and it opens just fine in Logic 8. Now in my Quantize list I see a whole list of new MPC Groove Templates. Everything is ok so far... NOW I attempted to close that session and start a new one, because the MPC one was just a test to see if the groove templates would load I selected "close session and Don't Save" option when prompted. When the new session opened I was presented a dialog box reading "Project MPC_3000_Q.lso has not been saved since it was created. Delete the created folders and files?" Then the options "Keep" or "Delete". So I chose delete... when doing this Logic deletes EVERY FILE AND FOLDER ON MY DESKTOP! SO I'm guessing it thinks every file in the same directory as the original MPC_3000_Q.lso file is some how associated with it and deletes them. This is a MAJOR BUG in my opinion and a dangerous to say the least! Lucky the files were still in my trash can so I could retrieve them.... but the problem is when Logic deleted all these files it somehow also unpacked all the folder and ditched them essentially leaving in the trash can one massive pool of every file. So I had to pick through everything to find the ones I needed. Is this a known issue with Logic? Can Any of you reproduce this? Has anyone experienced this? I couldn't find anything in my searches. BTW I can repeat this every time I do the exact same steps. Cheers! 3OT
