  1. http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/products_sax.php I too play the saxophone. This is the best sounding VI I've heard for solos.
  2. Ok....thanks. I'm not sure what we did, but the problem seems to have gone away. Say.....aren't you up late in Madrid Cheers.
  3. I'm not sure what you mean by click the background of the arrange page but I am unticking the loop check box in the Midi thru pane of the inspector. Every time I record a phrase the box checks itself and the loop is back on, When I uncheck the loop box or hit L in the key commands, the loop goes away only to return with the next passage.
  4. Hello again, It's been a while since I've encountered any problems recording virtual orchestra with Logic and EXS24 but tonight I've have an interesting problem which I can't seem to solve. Every time I record a phrase or passage, it loops. I've been clicking the loop box in the inspector to kill the loop but for every new passage, it loops and the check box is filled. Very annoying. So far, I have trashed prefs and searched for any setting that would cause looping to occur. I can't find anything to stop the problem. Anyone know the solution? Thanks.
  5. As per my set up below, I certainly agree with combining Kirk Hunter with Vienna. Although I have limited experience with Sonivox, other than the few patches that made its way into the M-Audio string collection, the demos are among the most impressive I've heard.
  6. I did exactly that after doing a reformat to one of my drives. I simply changed the name of the streaming drive and EXS 24 found everything as if no change was made. That said, I have no idea what will happen for the other plugs.
  7. Why not explore the VI's built in to Logic? You might be pleasantly surprised!!
  8. Not to discourage you from learning the basics but the answer to your question has a simple answer. Open the piano roll editor, click on the note(s) you wish to sustain, put your cursor on the right end of the line and it will turn into the drag tool. Then drag the note to whatever length you choose. If it is a sample or synth sound without a release that diminishes in volume, you can program the effect in the plug in or use automation to fade out the volume of the notes.
  9. Musicmad, your needs in Logic sound very close to mine. I've been working with LE8 since its release. The only thing that is missing from my virtual orchestra is the space designer reverb. I am using "Goldverb" and generally pleased with the sound. As mentioned, since it cost the same to buy LE and upgrade as it does to buy Studio, you have nothing to lose should you feel the need to have Studio. Cheers.
  10. Keeping your samples on a separate drive from your system is recommended by most everyone. If there's enough room on your backup drive, you could partition it for both uses. My samples drive has 2 partitions - a 20 gig partition has a system on it for emergencies or maintenance of the primary drive. Are there any drawbacks to daisy chaining 4 drives on firewire 800?
  11. Here's a free solo violin which was offered here last year. The samples sound good but it will probably take some work to make them into a usable virtual instrument. http://www.freesound.org/usersViewSingle.php?id=692375
  12. I'm curious to know the answer to fader's question about opening rather than importing but to answer yours...yes, you can shorten the entire length in the transport bar, just below the tempo read-out.
  13. The initial contact was by phone. After getting the case #, everything was by email. I would imagine you could use VOIP from your location.
  14. I had a lot of crashes early on with LE 8. Even after the 90 tech support period, Apple tech was eager to help. I think your best bet now is to contact and sent them the Logic "Support Profile" which you can create by selecting it from the Help menu. They had my problem diagnosed in a day and it's been clear sailing ever since. Good luck.
  15. This has come up in the past and leads to http://www.chickensys.com/products/sw_iteminfo.php?sw_name=Translator+Pro
