  1. A MIDI region never "auto-changes" like you said. However there's no need to drag the region(s) anywhere at all: control-click your Drummer region and choose Convert > Convert to MIDI Region. Aha !! now - that's the ticket . thanks again Dave cheers - n - beers
  2. thanks Dave , ok then , so let me take this a step further if I may . if I drag that region onto another midi track to convert and split it into 2 regions ... when i drag them back to the drummer track will it keep my changes ?
  3. please delete this post ... i couldn't figure out how to do it myself .
  4. how do I split a drummer track region without it auto changing the pattern ? I just want to split the region and keep everything the way it was ... but when i split a drummer region , it automatically changes the patterns and adds new fills at the ends on each side of the split .
  5. I am trying to isolate vocals from a stereo mix . I am trying to use the method of phase cancellation . I have a stereo track stem with everything but the vocals and I have a stereo track stem which includes the vocals but somewhere , somehow I have lost the stem that was vocals only . but the phase cancellation method isn't working . I think it's because I may have already reversed the phase on one or both of these stems ... so my question is how can i tell if a track is in phase or out of phase ...
  6. @ David and Eric . and now thanks to LPX4 ... all we have to do is Marquee and command J !!
  7. first of all you should definitely flash your Mac Pro from 4,1 to 5,1 ... I know you said you were unsuccessful ... but everybody does it (as did i) ... it is well worth the hassle . and as David has pointed out the feature you speak of was not available in logic pro 9 ... if you were able to drag left or right to extend a region ... that just means that you had already split , cut or cropped that region before and you are just putting back what you had previously removed . The best and easiest work around before 10.4 is this ; just record a one bar region of silence on an audio track somewhere ... now anytime you need to extend a region with silence you just copy/ paste that silent region in front of or behind the region you're working on , join or merge them together ... then trim to your desired length . been doing that for years ...
  8. The problem is I cannot consolidate because I do not know which ones I need or will use ... maybe that's the problem some of these projects are 5 yrs old and i may have already consolidated them somewhere along the way . perhaps that's why the project package will not reference them . so is there anyway I can get them all into the project package ... or do I have to just leave it as a package folder and call it a day .
  9. how do i convert project folders to packages and retain all my assets ? when I do this LPX 4 does not save all of my audio files from the old project folder to the new project package . I have a project folder with approximately 8 gigs of audio files ... but when I try to save it as a project package ... and check all the asset boxes ... I lose over 2 gigs of audio files . do I need to copy and paste all of my old project folder audio files to the new package content audio folder ? how does logic determine which audio files to save to the package ? why doesn't it just save them all ... I am confused .
  10. my total apologies Jacob ... I had three or four posts mixed up that I thought were you ... if you look above you can see that I changed that post ... again my sincerest apologies the post was in response to my misinterpretation . and let me redouble my thanks for all your help .
  11. Just curious, why do you want to print the gain change to the audio file ? I do also use the region inspector gain-function for rough leveling of the regions, but I don't feel the need to print it into the file ? I never said anything about needing a gain change printed . the point of this thread was to ask how to stop LPX from displaying / printing my mono tracks as stereo waveforms when performing a BIP . at least that's what I was trying to ask LOL . I guess i should have asked how to make LPX display a mono waveform ... ( instead of print )
  12. of course. well, you can use "Join regions" (cmd+J) instead, that way it just merges the file while respecting gain changes. Much more elegant and faster than bounce in place. Merging regions that were only split and had no gain changes applied will not generate a new file. EDIT: While we're here and if anyone reads this: when you complain about a function in logic not working as expected you should ALWAYS write down what do you wish to achieve, because there's a possibility that what you need can be achieved in a different way. It will speed up solving your issue. but the problem with joining regions is the fact that it does not preserve the regions ... if I wanted one five-minute region the entire length of the vocal track ... then joining would be just the ticket ... but I don't want that ... I want my regions left intact ; where is , as is ... but with the added changes I specify ... bounce in place
  13. volume changes to some of the regions ... changes done in the region parameters in the info box above the left channel strip. you can adjust region volume on the fly there while cycling / listening to the audio .... then when you have it where you like it just bounce it in place . a quick and easy method for general leveling of region volumes on tracks, before getting down and dirty with automation and flex . I find this method easier than opening up a region in the editor and using the volume function .
  14. thanks to everyone for their help ... cheers -n- beers
