  1. Hello! I've just bought a new macbook and I was wondering if it is at all possible to copy and drag some plugin files from my old imac machine to my new one? For example, I have an external hardrive with all my kontakt and nexus librarys on there, as well as apple loop collections. Is it possible to simply copy the files that are on the machine itself (AU files etc) so when I connect my external drive to the new machine, it will see the supporting files? Same goes for a whole host of files which dont have support files on an external - NI stuff, izotope, camel audio etc. Can these be copied onto the new machine into the same location (file structure)? Both machines are running Mountain Lion if that info is of any use? Cheers David
  2. Good idea, will do. I get more hangs than crashes so do you know if theres a way of generating a 'crash' report when it hangs?
  3. Cheers guys but I really don't see RAM as the issue here. I was using 9 (and 8 before that) with 4gb for the last few years with NO problems what so ever. I install Lion and boom, I can't do a thing without crashes and hangs.
  4. Sorry, yeah, a core 2 duo. Just weighing up the hassle that a clean install will cause me. Not looking good
  5. iCloud and the improved mail system were my main reasons to upgrade. Like many people on here I'm guessing, I'm not fortunate enough to own an iMac purely for logic and a separate iMac for email, internet etc. Apple should not advertise the upgrade process as seamless if it has to be a clean install for it to work. I find that a bit misleading and arse backwards tbh.
  6. Ok, 30 minutes into another project and again, crashed with no warning what so ever. This is completely unusable. DO NOT UPGRADE TO LION PEOPLE! Bear in mind, I used Logic daily for hours with maybe 2 crashes in three years before this.
  7. A similar problem on this forum (not solved) http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=78028&p=402850&hilit=slow#p402850
  8. I should probably add I'm using an iMac 3.2 intel duo, 4gb ram, 1tb drive.
  9. Im having this issue since upgrading to Lion several weeks ago.
  10. I 'upgraded' to Lion several weeks ago and ever since, Logic 9 runs terribly. For example, if i open a channel eq and view the analyser, the system grinds to a halt and is laggy as hell. Trying to adjust the value of an eq band for example, it takes 5 seconds for changes to appear. Also, I have had a lot of crashes. I use an Apogee Duet which I have installed the latest drivers for. Also, updated any plugins I can. I have searched around, found similar issues on other sites, but haven't managed to find an answer to the problems I'm having. As an aside, I find Lion to be a bit laggy in general but Logic is far and away the worst hit application. Can anyone suggest anything but please, not delete everything and do a clean install. Obviously thats a last resort
  11. I have a midi region which I double click on to open it in the piano roll. I then open the editor (bottom left) that has volume, panorama, modulation etc in its drop down menu and choose pitch bend. I set the pitch bend to drop down at the end of the region and then back to zero before it ends. When I play this in logic the next region is playing an octave too low, like its not coming up from the pitch drop I did in the previous region. Im confused as I have made sure the trouble region has its own pitch bend set as zero at the begining of its region and other regions I have arnt showing this behaviour. Please help!
  12. Thanks but that fails on step 1. I cannot create a new apple loop from the file as per my first post
  13. Hi guys I havent used apple loops in quite some time and I have completely lost my memory on how to edit them in Logic 9?! 'Convert region to new audio file' will not let me choose Wav as its an apple loop. Also, I cannot save it as an AIFF as I get this message; Please set Apple Loop region length for file “whatever.aiff” so that it represents an integer number of beats! Please help, im going nuts!
  14. Hi If I am wanting to strip noise etc from say, a vocal track using strip silence, is there a way of getting Logic to output a single audio file with the silence stripped rather than lots of short regions? At the moment I am having to get those regions, create new audio files from them (lots of) and then merge the new region files into a single audio files. Is there an easier way? The same goes for stripping kick tracks. Would be nice to have a single file rather then 1,000 separate kick hits! Cheers, Dave.
  15. Hi guys Well, the machine will be brand new so will have snow leopard freshly installed. I just dont want to go through the 14 hours of installing omnisphere, trilogy, sampletank, miroslav, nexus, ezdrummer.......... Surely I can just use time machine to copy the logic related files to my new machine and save having to reinstall all my huge sound libraries??!!!
