  1. Closed marker track is fine with me, once the markers are set I don't need it open all the time anyway. But I find Cmd-Option-Ctrl as a modifier quite cumbersome, as it requires more than just a thumb (or a very special thumb ). And this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks David! Now I just need to slightly rewire my old habit (option-click vs cmd-option-click) but it's a minor effort. And these are all great tips, of which I only was aware of one. Much appreciated!
  2. That's a good one. I'm going to be using this a LOT. Thanks! Ok guys, help me out here. I've literally just now discovered this behaviour and it's kind of disconcerting as I used to option-click on markers for ages to go to the beginning of the marker. I've been using outboard gear exclusively for a couple of months now so not much arranging in Logic but I couldn't believe my motor memory could have failed me so bad, so had to fire up L9 (first time in years) to make sure I'm not going nuts, and option-clicking markers indeed does what I expect it to do. I guess this may have been introduced some time around 10.2.1, this support article describes the new behaviour ("Trim the start or end point of a marker"). Now, as much as I appreciate the new stuff Apple introduces in Logic, I'd really like the old behaviour back, but mouse clicks aren't on offer in Key Commands. Any ideas?
  3. Kontakt 5 here, no issues (Session Strings included), except it has trouble finding its own .nki files when i move the project to another computer and I have to load them manually. Other than that works fine.
  4. The BiP command is under Bounce and Join submenu in your second screenshot. When you have used it at least once, next time it will appear as visible in your first screenshot.
  5. I stand corrected Edit -> Delete keeps the files, Audio File -> Delete File(s) moves them to the trash.
  6. NI's the Finger or similar type of software might help (Izotope Stutter Edit, NI Molekular, etc). Look for anything that does glitch and stutter
  7. The OP mentioned they'd want to keep the unused audio. In this scenario it's still perfectly retrievable from trash in the Finder though. OTOH, I'm not sure unused audio (which by definition has no associated regions in the arrange area) uses any of Logic's resources. Perhaps got to seek the problem elsewhere? How about checking stuff like how many regions you actually have in your project, how many Undo steps and stuff like that (unfortunately, I don't remember how to get this info in Logic 9, in LPX it's Project Information, assignable in Key Commands).
  8. If you do eventually have to choose between Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks, I'd go for ML from personal experience. Lion was kind of buggy and they had pretty much sorted it out by ML (think Leopard -> Snow Leopard). Been on Mavericks for a few months and not really enjoying it, wish I could go back to ML. Of course, YMMV etc.
  9. Basically a patch may consist of several control strips, each with its own settings. If it only contains one CS, it's still a patch, consisting of 1 CS. Hope I'm being clear and helpful
  10. or you could try to download a standalone 10.9.2 update and try to run it again (and/or perhaps the last critical update too). I remember sometimes it would fix things for me back in the day when something went wrong.
  11. I used CCC to move everything from my old spinning HD to a new SSD last summer. Everything pretty much works without any issues whatsoever, except Logic still occasionally likes the old drive (which is still present in the system) better than the new one and defaults to it when saving or browsing for files in All Files.
  12. FWIW, it opened just fine here. What's your Logic version?
  13. The OP is on LPX so the default shortcut for Event List would be D, right?
  14. iMac with a stock bluetooth keyboard here, never experienced a single connection issue.
  15. Bus-powered FW800 drives are completely silent. Like the Seagate GoFlex Pro. is it a 2.5" drive? I've had a few bus powered 2.5's over the years, all silent. I've never had a mains powered 3.5" drive that wouldn't be driving me nuts. I currently have an external Seagate for Time machine backups, I'm afraid it's going to live a long and happy life as I only power it for like half an hour whevener TM complains about missed backups once in 10 days
