  1. Next time, before you update, copy the Logic app to another drive and rename it Logic 10.4.x This way you can always revert. Thanks, but is there anything I can do now? Can I get hold of 10.4.1 from somewhere? Everyday brings a new way of Logic to crash. Just now Logic stayed open but all the windows disappeared and were also grey'd out in the dropdown menu. I forced quit but unlike other times, on relaunch there was no option to use an auto-save version so I lost a lot of work for good. If this goes on it's bye bye Logic for good! I've used it for a decade and never have I had such issues!
  2. Yes, absolute rubbish is 10.4.2 . I need to go back to 10.4.1 but how? I don't have a time-machine backup.
  3. It will have to have assigned itself when I wasn’t looking then! Because it wasn’t doing it last time. Thanks, I’ll check the key commands and see.
  4. This has just started happening out of the blue. When I hit stop [zero on the numeric keypad] after recording, the region jumps ahead! If I hit the asterisk key to start and stop recording, it doesn't happen. I use the zero key to stop recording day in and day out for years and only now this has started happening. Any ideas why? Thank you. https://youtu.be/_O-idccJD54
  5. I'm finding I can display the CC information but as soon as I hit play it disappears.
  6. Yes. If you like working with that specific level meter plug-in. Thanks for the clarification!
  7. I've always kept my track faders low and sometimes I've accidentally destroyed a balance by trying to not move the Output fader when the level was still too hot. Knowing this is going to save me a lot of time and effort!
  8. I think I got it! If I'm asked to provide a file that peaks at no higher then xx dB then I use only the Output fader reading and I can raise or lower the Output fader as required to get the right final level. Is there any point inserting a level meter on the Output if you never touch the Master fader? Sorry if I'm being dim!
  9. One more question. Which is a true reading the Output fader LED or the reading on a level meter inserted in the Output channel. I've noticed a difference.
  10. I've been reading this thread with interest and would like to ask: Just to be clear- it's perfectly Ok to lower the Output fader to leave headroom for mastering if the levels are hitting 0.dB and you would want it to be no higher than -3dB or even -6dB? Also, I've started using the VCAs and putting all instrument tracks and audio tracks through them to make it easier to change the balance of stems for people overdubbing etc. Does lowering all the VCAs have the same effect as lowering the Output, preserving all the bus compressor and reverb send ratios etc.? Could I do that before sending the track for mastering? Is there any reason to choose one way over the other? Thanks
  11. Great, thanks again. I'll have a go tomorrow.
