  1. I'm getting some strange automation behaviour and i would really like some help figuring out what's going on. I have an instrument track with Symphobia on it. I've set-up an 8 part midi multi instrument for Symphobia in the environment and trigger the instrument via different midi tracks Each Midi track has automation data on it that controls the volume of each instrument preset in Symphobia, to do this you have to assign a controller to the volume of each instrument instance (no controller pre-sets) so i have set cc11 to control the volume for each loaded instrument within the Kontack player. My problem is this - The lvl of my Mixer fader in Logic for my Sym instrument is being changed during play back even though there is no automation on this track. This is completely screwing up my reverb depths as i am using pre-sends. Any idea why this is being altered by my automation from the MIDI tracks? cheers
  2. i haven't tried this yet, but your comment about naming buses made me think about something David wrote over in the Tips section Name buss: Audio > Audio Configuration window, by going to View > i/o labels: Not sure if that is a permanent label, but would be cool when creating a template
  3. Can you use beat mapping to create tempo maps? E.g say i play an orchestral part (or any part for instance) in free hand and not to a click, could I then play back the section while tapping in the tempo via midi and use this region to 'Beats from Region' creating relevant tempo changes? I have come from cubase and obviously using the warp tempo grid in the arrange window is super fast and i am trying to find a good method for logic. thanks for the useful walk though
  4. i have the 26 io, and to begin with was a nightmare. i also have a WD 800 HD. If you chain them macbook pro (what i use) ->800 -> saffire 400 it hates it and you get kernal panics. I believe you lose FW bandwidth with both devices hooked directly into the macbook pro because the 800 +400 ports share the same FW bus. (eg, the 800 drive only runs at 400 speeds, but that's just what i have read from other posts) Anyway i have had a more stable system of late and i do really like the interface. The motu 828KII is around the same price. On a side note, my PRS guitar overloads the instrument pre on the saffire even though the focusrite tech said they had tested PRS guitars (it isn't active)
  5. i will look into that cheers
  6. The pres are good for the price, i think they are the green pres. The interface is fw400 though, and i have had issues with core audio drive and fw driver in logic.
  7. when i record a midi part i get a duplicate layered on top. If i open the piano roll delete a note, there will be another identical one underneath. Have i set something weird up? cheers JD
  8. The problem i am experiencing is exactly as 63strat described, its as if Logic has muted the regions, but they do not appear muted until you restart. Its worth mentioning that I am also using VSL, perhaps it is tied to that. I will also check the key comannds just in case Macbook pro 2gb, saffire 26, VSL standard edition
  9. yep, although no one seems to be suffering this problem judging my the lack of replies from a similar post i made. I found that if you restart logic the problem regions appear muted (greyed out) and you can simply un mute them and play back will resume. Has to be a bug in my opinion
