  1. I was wondering how you sell Logic Pro 8 Studio?? I looked everywhere online and there is no info really. If I sold logic to someone would they be able to get my info from the license?? and how do you transfer the license?? thanks
  2. I am reading the logic getting started book and it says you can change the key of AUDIO loops: "the advantage of apple loop audio files is their ability to automatically match the tempo and key of a logic project" I know how to change the key, transpose the key, in logic etc... I am not asking how to do it, but is that actually possible?? I understand midi loops or midi in general being able to switch keys and transpose etc.. but audio loops?? does logic have some kind of autotune or melodyne built into it? how is this possible?? I just don't understand how a guitar strum audio loop strumming say a c chord is able to be transposed to a d chord, f chord, e chord, etc... I can understand how the software instrument loops (midi loops) would be able to change to match your project because they are midi and the midi notes can just be transposed to whatever Key, chord, etc.... I never heard of software being able to change prerecorded audio that is playing more than one note at a time... (well i think melodyne can do it now, not sure) can someone please explain how this is possible in logic?? or if it truly is?
  3. I heard that when you defrag the audio drive logic sometimes will move audio files that have long names all around to different projects etc... (which is not good) So wouldn't this be the safest way to defrag system drive: to boot from a backup of your system drive and then delete system drive and copy it back from the back up drive??? doesn't that defrag it also?? and that way would probably be safer then idefrag etc... right?? An basically same with an audio drive (if you don't want to chance logic moving long audio files all over): just copying projects and everything from your audio drive to another drive, then delete your audio drive and copy them back to it?? would also defrag it??
  4. That was the apple link i read that scared me away from defragging but then in the logic getting started book it says: "Regular hard drive maintenance is particularly important for ensuring stable, and consistent, drive operation. This includes de-fragmentation and preformance checks. Frequent de-fragmentation has a positive effect on the life of a hard drive." Its strange because logic is apple exclusive now and it saying it in the Logic Getting Started book with a little apple logo in the corner of the book to defrag and alot. Then on the apple website, (the link you posted) it is saying don't defrag or problems can arise basically. Apple is kind of contradicting themselves and confusing me lol. just seeing what others do/recommend?? I think i am leaning toward the don't defrag side. Or maybe just defrag my audio drive and thats not system drive, can defraggin audio drive and not system drive cause harm??
  5. Just wondering what you logic users do?? on apple site they say don't defrag it might cause problems in logic book it says defrag all of the time what do you guys do/recommend?? should i just defrag audio drive and leave system drive alone?? or is it a bad idea to defrag audio drive??
  6. cool thanks i just hooked up my audio drive. (firewire 800) I read your article it was pretty good. I am thinking about keeping my jam packs and loops on the system drive and just saving the logic projects onto the external (audio) drive. From what i read and researched that is what most people do and how they keep there audio drives...is that right??? Or am i missing something thanks
  7. wondering if this set up would work?? Or are firewire hubs a bad thing and will slow things down?? I wanted to run a firewire hub from my imac to connect my duet and audio drive?? would that work?? would it slow things down?? are firewire hubs good or bad/fast enough with logic?? thanks
  8. I am a noob when it comes to logic and apple....still trying to set things up Was wondering how do you actually set up and audio drive?? Is it just and external hard drive used for audio purposes only??? so do you actually have to install your operating system on the external drive and run logic from there?? Or do you run logic from your internal drive and set the audio files to run/be on the external drive?? and how do you set that up?? is there settings in logic that let audio go to the external, etc..?? Thanks sorry for such dumb questions
  9. It stills stays on when i shut the mac down...is that ok?? sorry about so many dumb questions. Just new to the mac and apogee in general I use to run pt with mbox and the mbox would be on all the time when the comp was on but the mbox turned off when computer was shut down.
  10. so it is suppose to stay on all of the time then?? is that what your saying??
  11. I just hooked up the duet to my imac. I was wondering is there anyway to shut it off when not in use??? (besides unplugging it from the imac) even when i shut down it still stays on...is this the norm?? is it ok to keep it on like this all of the time??? any answers or advice are apprecaited thanks
