  1. I've been working on a piece of music - using Alchemy for a couple of instruments. I did not allow Apple updates to Logic. But, after not opening this file for about a week - I opened logic and chose the file from my recent files menu - and an alert window opened titled: Automation Data Converted I'm going to try to attach the alert window here: The alchemy instrument that is effected sounds totally different because of this Automatic Data Conversion. How can this happen without me updating anything on my computer that has to do with Logic? I am unable to play the Logic file now without this radical change. Any suggestions here?
  2. Good idea. That sounds very much like my workflow for selective delay: https://www.logicprohelp.com/selective-delay-effects-vocals/ I just read through your link, David - a great set of examples and process - much more thorough than my post. I've been using Logic for many years - and started using the method I described quite a while back. It just seemed to make sense in order to quickly deal with situations like that of the original poster. Over the years, I've found this method to be very useful.
  3. I've done this a few times by copying the short region onto a second track - on which I have inserted a reverb or delay plugin that's used to carry the sound forward. It's easier that way because you can leave your main track as it is, while having the effect that you can tweak on its own track. You would need to just listen to the effect on the second track - not the dry signal - or you'll have a sudden volume change on that single region. You may also need to automate in the level of the second track. Takes some fiddling - but can help a lot.
  4. I took another look at your "project settings in that regard" question - and had already done that. Thanks again.
  5. No - I have not consolidated my project. If you think that would do it... let me know. Not sure what project settings that you are referring to. But, thanks for the reply.
  6. I just answered my own question. Yes there is a device from midisolutions.com that will do this. It's about $150. U.S. They call it a pedal controller. It's more expensive than the actual pedal.... but will do the trick. And, it's programmable via midi connection.
  7. I have a Roland EV-5 Expression pedal that I'd like to use as a wah wah controller... but it has a 1/4 inch type connector designed to plug in a synth. Is there a converter that would convert that signal to a midi output that I could use via a usb connection? Thanks
  8. I've had a little time to do some backups over the last few days - and I've noticed that even though I choose all the options to include samples, instruments, audio files... everything... my backups do not include samples that are from the channel strip in which I have Drum Kit Designer loaded. My back-up folder which I created as "Save a copy as" to another drive contains other instruments and samples... but no samples at all that would relate to either Drum Kit Designer or Ultrabeat. An Ultrabeat folder is created - but it's empty. Am I wrong in believing that the sounds of Drum Kit Designer are actual audio samples?
  9. If you have another guitar - try it. It sounds as if you may have a bad or loose connection in your guitar's wiring that's normally okay - but when you hit it hard it's briefly shorting out or just making noise. Have you done the obvious - like changing your guitar cord? That kind of noise can easily result from a physical problem with the guitar or the cord.
  10. I was experiencing similar issues - clicking and crackling sounds that seemed to increase with the amount of time that I was working. For me - it turned out to be because my firewire interface (Presonus Firebox) because Presonus decide to not update drivers for it, wasn't happy with Apple's newest OS s - or even the last couple of OSXs. I upgraded to a MOTU 828MK3 hybrid (Firewire and USB) - which is not a new interface - but is supported by MOTU with current drivers for Apple's modern OSX 10… and all my problems are gone. Your problem could possibly be related to the drivers for your audi interface.
  11. Following up on my interface.. I can say that I've been using my 828mk3 for a while now - with absolutely no clicks and pops or any other OS problems. Reminds me of the good old day using my G5 with the MOTU 2408MKII. Life is good.
  12. As I was considering what to do about my audio interface - an ad from Musician's Friend arrived in my inbox. They are having a 20% off deal on items over a $49. There are some some small restrictions. I went with the 828 MK3. Waiting for it to arrive… Thanks for everybody's input. I'll report on the compatibility with OSX 10.10.2.
  13. Eric - I used a MOTU 2408 MKII for years in my G5 tower - and never had a problem with that device. Loved it. I've been looking at MOTU audio interfaces - and like most others - it's never clear whether they are really up to Yosemite or not. Thanks for the advice… I appreciate it.
  14. I've used my faithful Presonus Firebox for several years - but I'm finally fed up with it's incompatibility with Apple's newest systems. It's still workable in Logic Pro X for the most part (except for the occasional loss of sync)... but has regular frequent issues in Mainstage. In Mainstage - very often when selecting a different patch all audio output becomes garbled.. weirdly distorted. And - if the clock is running the audio seems to be running at around half speed, in addition to being totally garbled. So - I want a new interface that is compatible with OSX 10.10.2. It's not easy to sort out all the info online - tech notes, reviews, etc. at all the online products. I've been looking at Presonus, Motu and Focusrite, and I want at least Firewire - and would consider thunderbolt - though that isn't really necessary. I record mostly in my home studio - and use the interface live while performing with Mainstage. So I want at least 2 mic inputs and a couple of inputs for guitar. I also would prefer an interface with outputs for Main... and another set of outputs for a different mix. Sadly - my old Firebox has all of these requirements... just doesn't play nice with the new Apple hardware/software. Anybody with any personal experience with an audio interface under $1000. that will be compatible? Thanks for reading this long-winded post.
