Hey thanks for the tips - I'll check the fans - not many plugins - freezing is hard when in compose mode..! Alchemy seems to be the issue / software instruments.

Hi = I'm experiencing worse and worse CPU overloads when using Logic Pro X making it pretty impossible to work. Am thinking I may need to upgrade Mac but before hand want to check to see - if there is something I'm missing/ that I can do to improve this. My Mac has an 1TB SSD as its hard drive now - which is quite full - 285 gb space on it. The fan is on a LOT - especially with Logic/large apps (and if on Firefox). I've done the basics - increase buffer size etc. but doesn't improve things. Alchemy software especially (or EXS24) doesn't seem to help - but even one Alchemy track and a few audio tracks with plugins can cause crashing. Would clearing space on the SSD hard drive improve things? I've tried running the projects from an external hard drive = same issues - all processors max out Thanks in advance!

Ok - thanks. Finding the spec needed a bit confusing - do you know which Mac's can be upgraded for RAM - it looks like the ones you can upgrade are not quad core... !

Sorry - one last q - does it matter how much RAM if going for upgrade to quad core?

Thank you for both responses - Triplets - I sort of agree - could be the case, is processor speed the issue though as many newer Macs have less RAM? And Fuzzfilth - thank you for those additional tips = some of which I haven't tried and will do so. Freezing tracks always feels a bit premature when working on something that isn't finished but it's possible - and yes Alchemy is there of course. But processor speed the main issue here?

I keep getting System Overload on projects that I'm working on - not SO heavy on tracks/ plugins - but some. The CPU monitor reads = all 4 processing threads near 100% at times = when the system overload happens. Looking at Activity Monitor it says memory used = 13.25 GB.. I'm guessing my set up needs growing /upgrading some how to continue working on these tracks? If you have any tips or observations it would be great to hear. I shut all apps down; enlarge buffer size; turn off wi-fi - doesn't seem to help. Thank you in advance.

Hello - I'm trying to access the files in Playback on Mainstage 3 ( to amend one) - cannot seem to find them - can see where they are stored if going in via Mainstage but then when trying to access the file from the Mac it seems hidden/ cannot find the Playback folder - does anyone know/please advise?? Thank you!
