  1. Got it - you got a clearer sound than me! Btw do you still want the AKWF waveforms? They're here http://www.adventurekid.se/AKRTfiles/AKWF/Alchemy_AdventureKid_Waveforms-1-00.rar
  2. Karsup-Strong. Sounds like a terrible neurological disorder doesn't it? Actually it's a physical modelling technique using comb filters. If you look on Youtube you'll see Eurorack demonstrations, but you can do it in Alchemy using the CombPM filter. Modulate the filter with Key Follow. On the right hand side of the source page turn off the waveform and turn on the noise. On the noise volume modulate with a very short envelope - you only want to excite the filter. I'm attaching a couple of examples which I made pretty quickly, but which should give you a sense of how to go about using the technique.Plucked instruments.zip
  3. Here's an over the top patch for Alchemy, based on the fact you can have 16 oscillators in each source. The performance controls are all assigned so have a play with them - maybe you can improve on my snapshots! 64 Saws.acp.zip
  4. Hi 3ple. I was looking forward to trying your patch but it wouldn't load as it has the suffix .patch rather than .acp. Do you know something I don't? Anyway, I was going to attach a supersaw of my own but you don't seem to be able to post attachments in a reply, so I'll make a new post.
  5. Thanks for this. I think you will have to replace them every time there’s an upgrade - it’s a recurrent problem I have with old presets imported from Alchemy 1 ..
  6. Forget it! Third time lucky. Wow - flex is great! Now for the additional material...
  7. Hi - I'm having trouble upgrading from Logic Studio 8 to Logic Pro 9. I downloaded Pro 9 from the app store. When I opened Logic it started to download 2Gb of additional material. When it got as far as 1.5Gb a dialog box appeared asking for my password to give Logic permission to make changes to my system. When I put my password in the download started again from the beginning. This has happened twice now. If I quit the download it does not resume when I reopen Logic, it just starts from the beginning again. Meanwhile I can't use Logic. Plus downloading 2Gb here takes about 24 hours, so it is getting a bit frustrating. I'm running OSX 10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Any advice? Is there a different way of doing things? Should I have removed Logic 8 first? I have everything backed up on Time Machine, so I can always go back and start again Very grateful for any ideas. Guy
  8. I got I work around if you're interested. The main problem seem to be that there seems to be no way to have the audio channel permanently open on the MMV without a trigger. So - turn release on the VCAs up full and press any key on the virtual keyboard. You'll hear your audio track running. Route the output to, say, Bus 1. Create another Audio channel and set the input to Bus 1. You can record your mangled sound to this track. A bit fiddly but it works.
  9. Thanks - just saw your post after I found the Novation FAQ - duh! Ah well, money money money ....
  10. Hi - I just got a Novation SL Mk II with Automap Pro3. It works great with 3rd party plugs, but doesn't seem to see any of the Logic 8 plugs - both instruments and FX. Which is a shame, as it's really great. I've tried searching the threads here but not seen anything. Anybody had a similar experience?
  11. I seem to remember Delmore Schwartz told Lou Reed to write a new song every single day, which he claims to have done. If you want to go down the route of psychological trauma, there is bags of evidence that misery in childhood is the route to success in all fields.
  12. I used to use a `Mesa Boogie V-Twin valve pedal. The clean sound was out of this world. To be honest I was never that keen on the overdriven/distorted sound, though that's a matter of personal taste. It's certainly very highly thought of. Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/MESA-BOOGIE-V-TWIN-TUBE-PRE-AMP-GUITAR-PEDAL-OVERDRIVE_W0QQitemZ320472337097QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar_Accessories?hash=item4a9da3cac9#ht_500wt_977 As you can see, they don't come cheap. I've never heard a digital emulation, good as they are, that comes close to a real valve sound. Even for clean sounds, and if you really want to sound loud and dirty, or loud and soaring, you just have to play loud through a loud amp. It's not just the valves - it's the way the speakers respond and how your guitar starts to self-oscillate with all that volume. IMHO Go into a music shop and try a good make of amp with a 2x12 cab, even at a fairly discreet volume. Then go home and try GuitarAmpPro. It's really good, and will sit nicely in a recording, but if you're not content with that you'll have to do things the old-fashioned way.
  13. Sure do. Although having 200 guitars playing the same thing can be fun...
  14. Tippie - not your stupidity - me being a bit oblique myself. I suppose my point was it's good to try and think outside the box - and also to ask yourself as part of the mixing process " is everything here really essential or can I clarify the mix by stripping stuff out?" Or sometimes, as one of the cards suggests, to strip away what you feel is essential and see what remains..
