  1. Thanks again Eric. Clean install it is. FL
  2. Thanks for the reply Eric. I've decided to buy the refurbished Mini. After all if it was good a year ago Now my next question is how do I transfer my files to new computer? I'm thinking that the Mini will come with Lion installed and I have Mountain Lion on my MBP. Logic didn't seem to run well under Mountain Lion so can I just use migration assistant to get Logic, third party software, and project files over to new computer without updating the OS? Also, how do I do this so one drive is just for project files on mac mini? Or do I fresh install logic 9 (since I have the box) and 3rd party software? Lot of questions I know. Thanks
  3. Hi. Four weeks ago a 5 gal water bottle leaked down into my project studio right on top of my equipment. My 2008 Macbook Pro got a soaking (it was not powered up). Dried everything out with dehumidifiers and waited almost a week to power up. Took a while but finally got it to boot. Everything seemed to be okay for a few weeks until the other day the Mac wouldn't recognize my Ilok Keys or a USB hard drive. I took it to Apple store and they found corrosion on the board around the USB ports and gave me an estimate for $1,250.00 to fix it. Long story short. Insurance company for Water supplier is willing to give me $900.00 toward the computer. There is other damage as well to the ceiling etc. but I won't bore you with that. Here is my question. I have found on the Apple store a refurbished 2011 Mac Mini server for $850.00 with the quad 2.0Hz quad core i7 with the two 500 GB hard drives and 4gig memory. Should I pull trigger on this puppy or wait for the Mini update or Imac (know one knows when)? I mainly use logic for song writing and recording a couple of bands I'm in and I have recently been mixing for other song smiths but don't earn my living with my studio. Not sure which way to go. Any opinions? Thanks, USB less in NY
  4. No. No noise gate. Oscar
  5. When using Amp designer the guitar will not hold the notes for more than a few seconds and than start to break up and fade. I'm sure this has to do with how I have my system set up but I'm not quite sure what to do. Thanks Oscar

    Apogee Gio

mmm42 thanks for the reply. I have thought about remapping the Gio which would give me 12 buttons to control Mainstage with. I just figured that since apogee worked with apple on this it would be set up in a logical way to make use of the software in a live setting. This is not exactly plug and play. Doug, As far the in and out. I could use my Duet although the Gio certainly sounds fine. When you go to the apogee control panel there are two sliders. One for guitar input and one for Mainstage output. At least with the Duet you can grab the big knob if you happen to screw up (not that I ever do ) and get feedback. Thanks Oscar

    Apogee Gio

i guess your right. I just thought that the Apogee Gio was "Designed to work with the new Logic Studio 9 and MainStage 2, GiO allows guitar players to control recording functions, preset changes and plug-ins like Amp Designer and Pedalboard, along with new Playback and Loopback features in MainStage" (quote from apogee site). It seems to me that theBehringer FCB1010 would be a better fit with 10 buttons and 10 banks W/ two pedals and a hell of a lot cheaper. This puppy is going back. I'm kind of pissed that I waited for this thing for a couple of months. Thanks Oscar

    Apogee Gio

I'm a guitar player in an acoustic trio (bass, mandolin & me). I received my Gio a couple of days ago. Watched the Mainstage video from Mac pro videos. Good vid. Made me wish I was a keyboard player. The buttons of different colors on the Gio are real pretty and seem to do a reasonable Job of turning off and on the pedal board. Same with changing patches even though changing sets are another story since there is no foot switch available for that. Guess you can't have everything. Question is this. How would one turn on and off Playback, record, turn on cycle between markers, turn off cycle between marker, go to the next marker, go to the previous marker, control fade out and while this track is playing switch to the looper plug and use the looper plug-in with all its controls with the five buttons on the Gio? Hm, I don't think this thing is going to work. Maybe that is why they only give you three controls in Playback pre-mapped when you turn it on for the first time. It would also be nice if the interface for playback would stay on screen when you switch to layout mode so you could easily map a couple of things. I figure that it has to be me that I am missing something since apogee is such a great company. So if anybody can answer the question above I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks Oscar
  9. Found this while looking into external HD. http://news.cnet.com/8301-11386_3-10141810-76.html. And this for those of us with older machines (Mines 8 months old) http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/09/23/idf_usb_3_adaptor/ Now I know why Apple is getting away from firewire. Yes? Thanks Oscar
  10. Antares Harmony engine. Use it with my Axiom 25. Works. Oscar
  11. Does anyone know what is wrong with the Macprovideo website? I can get on the site but can't access the forums, tuts, or anything else. What's up? Is it me or is something wrong w/ the site. Thanks Oscar
  12. I was thinking about buying an Alpha track for my set up but noticed that it is not on the supported list for Logic 9. Is this correct and does anyone know why? Should I stay away from this product? I don't think I need to go with the euphonix or Mackie at this point. Just looking for some hands on (mouse wears me out sometimes). Thanks Oscar
  13. Yes you can. I got my update at the Apple store in Paramus NJ and when they brought out the box it was marked $299.00. I said wait a minute and looked at the box and it was for the upgrade Express- Logic Studio9. Got my upgrade for $199.00. Oscar
  14. Wow, thats too cool. My prayers have been answered. I've been looking for something like this for years. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I love Apogee products (using the Duet). Oscar
