I have two machines: a Mac pro running Mavericks, for which I have Logic Pro X, and a 17 inch MacBook pro running Logic Studio 8. If I create a file using Logic Pro X, will that file run on the other machine using Logic 8? Thanks!

I am a pianist who needs to add a synth to my set-up for upcoming gigs. I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible, and since I already have MainStage and a very bare-bones controller (M-Audio Keystation 88), I figured that might be the way to go...until I realized that the only laptop I have has too slow a processor. So I'm either going to have to get a PowerBook Pro to use MainStage, or buy a hardware synth or workstation. The MainStage option would be so much lighter and easier to transport, and save space at home....but I'm not convinced that it's reliable. Any advice? Thanks!
