Thanks for the input. I do use logic and I do use the sounds in the studio, but usually I need the sounds for live performance. I do mainly function work - lots of cover bands - Pop,Funk,Jazz, Blues etc. I like the sounds in mainstage, but I usually have to tweak them a bit to get a better sound. I am contemplating getting Komplete 8 as I have heard the sounds are much better. Bit worried about the possible CPU drain however.

I have just sold my old Yamaha Motif ES 7 and have some money to invest in digital products. I am thinking of getting Komplete 8. Just a couple of questions - how compatible is it with mainstage? - basically I want soundbanks - is there any point is paying twice as much for ultimate over the regular? - is there a better product on the market for my needs. Well I ended up going with an Axiom Pro 49. It is a bit smaller than I was hoping for, but they had a demo model on sale for about $300 at the shop I went to and it was too good a deal to pass up. Couldn't be happier so far - feels great and is a huge step up from the Oxygen 61 I was using.

I've been using a couple of old M Audio midi keyboards and I want to upgrade. My needs are 61 keys for portability Durability - would like it to be sturdy for travel and live gigs Good Touch (would prefer as close to a piano as possible) Good interface with Mainstage I only use Mainstage live with tweaked sounds - I don't use any loops or backing tracks. I have an ok budget to work with - would rather pay a little more and get a reliable keyboard I can use for a while. Thanks in advance.

I use either a mac mini or a Macbook pro for gigs - been fine so far. My Mini is a few years old now and it still runs well. I was having troubles with my old macbook (which is why I bought the mini in the first place) but since updating to a probook things have been great, so I am not using the mini much anymore. Basically I use it at bar gigs where I think there is a chance some punter might spill a beer into my rig (only happened once years ago, but that was enough) - I keep the mini at the back protected and have a cheap chinese moniter and old keyboard up front in these situations.

Well I finally wiped my computer and reinstalled everything. I didn't put the Garriton software that came with the EWI back on. The EWI and keyboards are working much better now (and not causing everything to crash). Maybe there was an issue with the software? All is good anyway - got my rig back. Only downside is that the EWI seems to be on very basic settings (no vibrato, no pitch bending etc) but luckily that will be fine for what I need it for (just playing horn lines here and there).

I have been using a cakewalk USB Audio Interface UA-1G for live performance and I am looking at getting another one as a back-up. Is there a better one in a similar price range (or slightly more expensive?). Basically I am just running from my USB keyboard to the computer and then out to a desk or an Amp. Thanks in advance.

Or if anybody could direct me to a site where they may have some info about this it would be much appreciated.

I have been using mainstage for the last few months live onstage and havn't had any major problems. I recently bought an EWI to use as well and have been using one midi keyboard and the EWI on stage. Ever since I setup the EWI it has come up with an Audio Unit Authorization Error which causes the auvatool to quit unexpectedly. However I have still been able to use the EWI and the Keyboard no problems, for a few gigs. However for my last couple of gigs the sound has started dropping out. First the sound starts getting softer and softer, and then it finally disappears altogether. This can only be helped by rebooting the system - although the same problem occurs quicker. It has happened on my last two gigs and on two different computers (one my macbook pro and then on my macbook mini). Any help would be greatly appreciated - I am at the stage where I am thinking of going back to regular keyboards just to help the problem - can't afford to have keys dropping out halfway through the set.

I would also like to learn how to do this. I currently play an EWI and a keyboard in live performance. How can I set it up to have seperate sounds on each of them? At the moment I flick between sounds which is a bit annoying and takes up time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fixed it taking David's advice from another thread I would recommend leaving the installed files the way they were installed by the Logic installer, and save/move all your Logic projects to the external drive. If for any reason that's not the way you want to do it, then you can move folders of Apple Loops to any drive you wish, then drag and drop the folders onto the Loop Browser in Logic to reindex those loops. I was thinking about getting an Akai EWI USB and using it with mainstage - has anybody tried this combo? Any advice/reviews would be much appreciated.

I somehow managed to delete all of the apple loops - a message flashed up and I cancelled, but somehow they are all gone. How do I re-install them. Now when I go to the loops browser it says that there are none on my system and I need to re-install them. Help please.
