  1. Hi Jeff, Logic can actually use Kontakt libs as well, there is a MacOS/AU version of NI's Kontakt player. Logic can also load any AU compatible VI's But if a sample developer wanted to make their lib native Logic compatible they would make it in Exs format. There are a few sample creators that offer Exs format for native Logic use. Logic has the exs24 sampler built-in which is where these Exs format samples are loaded and edited.
  2. They key that says 'option' on it. http://www.indiana.edu/~vpurit/img/cslaptop/option_key.jpg You're running Logic on an Apple computer right? What keyboard are you using?[i
  3. Excellent points David, thanks for sharing. After reading what you had to say, I do agree with you on almost everything.
  4. A big +1 for Redline monitor. I love it. It's an essential part of my workflow for when I can't play at full volume on the monitors or I want to check phase, mono compatibility, etc.
  5. Excellent work Dorian, very professional! What orchestral libraries are you using if I may ask?
  6. Case in point: http://logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=42484
  7. Express is not un-installed when you install Pro. They can live side by side just fine. You may notice some slight changes in the Library or Channel Strip settings in Express but nothing to be worried about. You can safely delete the Express app or just leave it there, no worries.
  8. I use Bias Peak to perform any final destructive changes to the waveform. I replaced Soundtrack with Peak as my external editor in Logic. I just like the UI better.
  9. I agree with you basically. I'm also somewhat dismayed by some of the "new" posters who obviously did not pay for the software, as evidenced by their claims of "losing the manual" or not installing things correctly, etc. You want to be helpful to everyone but sometimes it's difficult to muster the same motivation to help someone when you know they just downloaded the software and aren't really committed to it, ya know?
  10. Yes, personal insults are certainly an indication of maturity and intelligence (not to mention a complete violation of forum rules). Thank you for validating my impression of you. Carry on.
  11. How old are you? Seriously? Fader8 is exactly right. For people who make their living off of this software (a group you are obviously not a part of) jumping on the latest and greatest thing causes more headaches than it solves. Do you honestly believe that everything in Logic 8.0.2 will work perfectly on SL out of the box? Not to even mention the plethora of 3rd party plug-ins that may need to be updated. Time is money. Better to let things settle in before making the leap. You sound like a kid who is learning these things, which is great and I wish you success, but it also means that you lack the perspective of someone who uses this software to put bread on the table. obviously you have jumped the gun here and not read what i have posted properly otherwise you wouldn't of posted what you have just said.. unless you want an argument which is childish.. you know this always happens in this forum???, opinions are like arseholes everybody's got one so please stop assuming as i have not done that to you or anyone else. You said: Which is a completely false and ignorant mis-characterization of what Fader8 said. Before instructing others to "read what [you] have posted" perhaps you can take your own advice. Cheers!
  12. I wouldn't even think of running Logic 8 on 1 gig of RAM and 100 gig HD. I can't imagine how horrible an experience that would be. The constant competition for disk resources would tank any performance you may have otherwise had. EZDrummer alone needs a minimum of 250MB just to run. That leaves less than 750 for both the OS and Logic to share. Plus you'd use up almost all of the disk space just between the OS and Logic. Sounds like disaster to me.

Do you honestly believe that everything in Logic 8.0.2 will work perfectly on SL out of the box? Or that Logic 9 (if and when it shows) won't cause dramatic changes in workflow? Not to even mention the plethora of 3rd party plug-ins that may need to be updated. Time is money. Better to let things settle in before making the leap. 14. So the new 13 inch MBP adds FireWire 800, correcting a major gaffe in the 13-inch line. However, they took away the ExpressCard slot from the 13 and 15-inch MBPs and replaced them with an SD card slot. So if you need or want an ExpressCard slot for an external eSATA drive, you are now forced to buy the 17-inch MBP. It also looks like the white MacBook will be the only one remaining, but of course it looks chintzy next to the new 13-inch MBP. Of course no news at all about Logic, which is disappointing but expected. I guess the last chance we have is after Snow Leopard ships that all of the Pro apps will be updated for 64 bit. I guess we'll know then whether Logic will be continued at all. I'm not sure how to feel about this honestly. Anyone have any thoughts?
  15. Will do. Thanks again. Good to know I'm not insane! What I did is merge all the regions and export them as MIDI which embeds the transposition changes in the .mid file. Then I started a brand new project and imported the .mid file onto a new track and everything works fine. No "extra" data in the Transpose track! I think that I moved the region to before 1 when i was shuffling things around trying to get around this bug. I normally leave a full bar of space at the beginning of my tracks. Thanks again everyone. This is another testament to why this forum is simply awesome!
