Audio Ethics

Hey guys. I recently tried getting a session from someone for mixing but it said it wasn't compatible with my version of Logic 8. It said the file needed to be loaded into version 7.2.1 or earlier to convert the project. After calling the guy back he said he had LP 4 running on OS 9 system, and said consolidating the tracks on his system takes forever. My main question is once I find someone with LP 7, how do they convert the file? And is there a way to bypass converting it?

Hey everyone, quick question. I'm using Logic 8, and I just wanted to know if there's any way to maximize the wave form vertically in the sample editor? I know you can increase the ruler, but it only goes so far. Thanks!

Just wanted to hear anyones thought's on good preamps they have or worked with. I know some offer more clarity and some offer more warmth, in any case, which ones do you think work well with what?

Hey everyone. Got a Waves bundle from a friend, and I'm having some problems with the installation. I put all the VST files in the VST folder, and i put the component stuff in its folder, but when i click on the 'Waves AU-Reg Utility 7.0' it says it can't find the file 'WaveShell-AU 7.0 Component', but its literally right under it in the components folder. Any idea's on what to do? Im running on OSX 10.5.8, and using Logic pro 8 academic, if that helps specify any possible problems. These plug ins are too awesome to pass up, help!

I also went to Library/Audio/Plug-ins and added the AU to the component folder since the extension name was .component. Still didn't work so i even tried adding it to the VST and Digidesign folder and nothing worked. Am I putting it in the wrong place?

I tried using the AU alternative, but it still says Logic can't open it. Do I need to change an extension name or something?

Hey everyone. I was trying to download a free plug in, the C3 multiband compressor from the net, but I seem stumped. I clicked the download link, it downloads fine, but then asks what program would i like to open it with. I choose logic and it says it can't open it. I feel like I'm missing a step. Any idea's? Thanks.

Hey guys. I just recently purchased a Korg NanoKontrol to use as a low budget control mixer, but I've been having problems with setting up its control assignments. I spent about a few hours assigning the controls I wanted and getting it right, and the next morning it's totally different. The information I programmed is still there, but its assigned to different faders/knobs. Ex: If i assign fader 1 to control the volume of channel 1, and i go to push fader 1, it thinks I'm pushing fader 3 and moves channel 3. Any idea's why logic isn't saving my assignments correctly? Or am I missing a step?

I've been looking around for an Audio Interface for awhile now, looking at Mackie, presonus etc. But the TC Electronic Impact Twin seems to have pretty good quality specs for a good price. It only has 2 inputs (which is really all I need at the moment) but has the option of 14 i/o ADAT. Also oversamples in the a/d d/a converters. I imported a quick time movie trailer into Logic to work on doing some music to film. Everything went great except when I click on Export Audio to Movie, it bounces the movie with the original audio and the music I added. I tried going to project settings and turning the movie volume down, but it only seems to help during the session, not the final bounce. Any suggestions on how I can get it to bounce without the original audio??

I was messing around with just a simple snare sample, and since i didn't have it at different velocities, i wanted to shift the pitch up just a few cents to give it a slightly different sound then the original. So i copy and paste the original audio clip into another audio track, and used the time/pitch shifter in the sample editor. So my problem is that when i shifted the pitch in the copied track, it also changed it in the original audio sample. How can i change just the selected copied audio?

Always wondered how to get around that strict feature and edit the loop. Hooray for more creativity!
