  1. Okay I just managed to fix it. I went to User/library/preferences and then trashed this file: com.apple.logic.pro.plist I have no idea why I had the error in the first place, but this work around has solved the issue for me! Let hops it works for you too Tim
  2. This is the full error message I get: "Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10008) The Sudden Motion Sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read or write all audio tracks, or the system was not able to process all data in time."
  3. Hey Guys, I've read the other related threads here about people that are having this issue, however their problem was hardware specific (RAID cards). This error suddenly popped up out of no-where and no I literally can not play ANY logic project because I get this message instantly. I record my audio / save my projects on an external hard drive, so I thought i'd copy a project folder over to my Internal hard drive and see if it was able to run then. I encountered the same error as soon as I pressed play. At least I know now that my external isn't broken, but its really frustrating not knowing what I'm supposed to do to fix this issue. I've been working on this particular project for about 20 hours in total and suddenly out of no-where this message pop's up and now keeps popping up in every project immediately after I press play. Any one have any ideas? Tim
  4. Hey guys! Wow, it's been a while since I've been on here. I think my last post was made in 2011. This post is a message of encouragement to all of the budding electronic music producers out there and to all of the very generous admins and frequent thread contributors. I remember 4 years ago when I first started getting into music production, Logic Pro 8 seemed like quantum physics to me. Having barely touched any DAW and being a predominantly performing musician (drummer / vocalist) this technological approach towards composition was as mind boggling as it was intriguing. Needless to say, I found this site after purchasing David's book, and from that point fourth I drained this resource of most of its information! Posting threads daily and getting great advice and help from very knowledgable members and admins. It was such an important and key resource in my development as a producer and I couldn't thank you guys enough for your help! Well, here I am now! I'm very busy with music production and have recently graduated from university with a degree in 'Creative Music Production'. I'm now teaching 'Music Technology' at a college here part time. I have also gained in excess a total of almost 1 million hits on youtube for my releases and have released tracks with numerous labels including 'Ministry Of Sound' and many tracks with 'Monstercat Media'. Before you think that this post is all about 'me me me', I want you to know that this post is to really encourage ANY budding electronic producers that need that extra push or encouragement! I started producing 4 and a half years ago, and I never thought I'd have the level of production value that I have now. Of course, you have to work hard at your craft to achieve results, but having such a fantastic resource like Logicprohelp.com is something you guys must utilize more Above all else, enjoy writing music ... and don't be disheartened if you feel like you're not improving at the pace you want. These things take time, and you'll find that the more you practice and study this area of music, the more you will learn! I cant thank you guys enough for your help over the years, thank you! --- PS - for anyone that would like to hear my music, you can check out one of my previous releases here:
  5. Wow thank you so much guys for the feedback! Scott cheers for taking time out to explain in detail! I came across this video a few days ago but couldnt remember how I found it so its great you posted it here! I think building my own would be the best way to do this, it gives me much more flexibility. These home made bass traps, do they do as good a job as the traps that you can buy from these various companies? After reading reviews it would seem that they work well, however buying traps from a company can yield better results. Do you think the slight increase in results is worth the extra $? Im quite happy to make these myself If I know they will do a good enough job,
  6. In reference to what your sayinhg about the mirror technique, thats what I meant when I said 'line up' haha. Not very specific I know Ill have to make do with the laminate flooring I think, I cant see how i'd be able to set it up any other way and be able to treat the room properly. Im looking into getting this acoustic treatmet package: http://www.primacoustic.com/london10.htm It only has two bass traps, but i could buy another two. Do you think a package like this would do the trick if the panels were positioned correctly?
  7. unfortunately the laminate flooring is at the top where the desk will be. BUT i can replace that with carpet.. actually to hell with it. Ill get a new carpet
  8. http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1426/studioideas.png There you go! The room isnt drawn to spec - and the area that my desk sits in will be bigger so the treatment WILL line up with the speakers facing the walls etc
  9. Hey guys, thankyou for your replies! @David: The line seperates the carpet from the laminate flooring. The room to the left of the picture seems like the better choice, I just need to figure out the best way to set things up. I will attach another picture in my next reply to this thread as regards to studio desk positioning etc, and hopefully you guys can inform me as to wether its a good idea or not acoustically speaking. Thanks a lot guys!
  10. Hey guys, i have a choice of two rooms here. One is more cube shaped and the other is more rectangular (with two awkwardly placed concrete pillars too)... http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/1426/studioideas.png I cant measure these rooms at the moment and the pictures are merely a rough guide for you to see the general shape of the rooms in question. What do you guys think is the best room shape given these two options? I will be buying acoustic treatment, so thats not an issue. I just want to know which room (based on its shape) would typically be better for me in terms of creating a flat frequency response and less of a hassle to set up concerning acoustic treatment?
  11. I know what you mean, its because the synth parts are heavily sidechained to a compressor triggering every 1/4 note. This (some would say) over usage of the technique is very popular within the electro house scene. But i can understand why some people would not like it too much. Thanks for your time!
  12. Hey guys! Thanks for all your replies they are much appreciated. Shiver - When you say pumping what do you mean, the side chain compression or the general plump of the whole song? I_Like_organs - I use Omnisphere for pretty much all my polyphonic synth sound designs
  13. Hey guys! Long time no see! Ive been real busy with my music lately, here is something thats come out of the studio. Here are the links (Subscribe to both if your feeling supportive!) http://soundcloud.com/rundfunkmusic/eddrundfunk-pin-up http://www.youtube.com/rundfunkmusic THANKS GUYS!
  14. WOW - This is such an improvement! Of course, I felt a loss and my heart sunk slightly when I saw that the old 'beloved' look had gone. But this is great!
  15. Ski, your knowledge has proved invaluable! I hope you succeed in everything you choose to do in the future! Cheers
