  1. Why not just creating a Channel Strip Group for those two Channel Strips and have only the Mute selected for that Group in the Group Settings Window.
  2. Exactly. Just think about it. If Apple would change its policy and would better communicate with its customers. Wouldn't that be a great change? If Apple would change LPX and include all the features you wished for. Wouldn't that be a great change? If Apple would change ... You get the idea.
  3. Just be careful with the extreme low frequencies especially if they are close to the resonance frequency of the human intestines. You might have to do some major clean-up after the concert, just saying.
  4. As David said, using Aux Channels (or as many outputs as your Audio Device provides) you can do whatever setup you like. Two things to keep in min: You can use Logics Surround Panner only for the provided Surround Formats to pan across multiple channels Before setting up multiple discrete subwoofer channels, think about what you trying to achieve. In smaller to midsize rooms you wouldn't here the difference (location) of the subwoofer (based on physics and how sound travels depending on frequency). Only if you have a huge installation or theme park where you have to hear some rumbling happening in a distant away.
  5. An Alias in OSX is neither a soft link nor a hard link. It is a little bit of both. It is the "Apple way". Here is a short definition of those terms. A Hard Link is a name for a file in the filesystem. A new Hard Link just adds another name to the same file on the disk A Soft Link (aka Symbolic Link) points to another file by its name. If you rename that file (it is pointing to), then the Solft Link is broken. An Alias contains both, the name of the file it is pointing to and the volume reference of the file itself. Funny, that all we want to do is make music with Logic, and this is what we have to deal with ...
  6. Yes, both folders are supposed to be hard linked. Did you double check the behavior on the Finder? Open two Finder windows, one displaying the ~/Library/Applications Folder/Logic/ and the other the Audio Music Apps folder. Now when you drag a file in either window, it should show up in the other window (it might take a few seconds). Same thing when you delete a file in one window, it will remove it in the other window. If that is not the behavior that you are seeing, then something might have gone wrong during the Logic installation. Besides that, the new Audio Music Apps folders is for the new LPX, GarageBandX and MainStage. If you use L9, it doesn't know anything about that folder and looks only in the Library folder, ignoring Patches and Drummes which it doesn't know anything about it. It is like an upward compatibility architecture.
  7. My Logic book is current with the most recent Logic version 10.0.7. This version had some feature changes and edits that are updated in the book. This is part of my GEM commitment to keep my books up-to-date. If you purchased the pdf file from my website, then you should have received an email with the free download link for "LogicProX-HowItWorks(2014-0608).pdf". If not, then send me a PM. Customer who bought the interactive multi-touch iBook version of my book, have received an update notification automatically through the iBooks app. And of course, the printed book on Amazon is also current with LPX 10.0.7
  8. The current interface in Logic is so dark that it is indeed hard to see some of the details. I turn up the exposure level (between 50% to 100%) of every screenshot I take from Logic for my books (with the exception of the Main Menus and some standard OSX-style dialog windows). Even on the books for other apps I make sure that the details good to see. I prepare the iBook version for the Automation book and looking at a nice Retina display on the iPad brings out so much of the details. For example, on an Automation Lane will multiple Automation Curves dimmed on the Main Track, on the iPad with the iBook version, you can see now all the details. In previous Logic versions you could actually set the opacity level of those curves. Or when you select one Automation Point, there is a shaded area around that point that is a little bit better to see when you select multiple Control Points and it expands into a wider shaded area. Very hard to see.
  9. I made the full Automation chapter of my upcoming book “Logic Pro X - The Details” available as a free pdf download on my website http://www.DingDingMusic.com/Manuals. The new book won’t be out until the end of the year, so I decided to make that chapter already available in the meantime to the Logic community as a mini book - for free. http://DingDingMusic.com/files/WebFiles/LPX-Automation_Cover_s.png "Logic Pro X - Automation" This is a 70+ pages manual that covers everything that is to know about Automation in Logic Pro X. Written in the same style as my other books in my “Graphically Enhanced Manuals” series, illustrated with rich graphics and diagrams that make the subject easy to understand. The interactive multi-touch iBook version will also be available for free on the Apple iBookstore shortly. Enjoy
  10. The Compressor app costs now $50 on the Mac App Store as a standalone app is just got updated this week to v4.1.3
  11. Go to the local View Menu in your Mixer Window, there is a submenu for "Channel Strip Components" that lets you show/hide various elements on our Channel Strip.
  12. The procedure you are describing requires a wet/dry control on the Plugin. That lets you set the amount, how much at the output of the Plugin is the dry (unprocessed) signal and how much is the processed signal. First, locate that control (it is called "Output Mix" in the Phaser), play around with it and then select it in the Automation Parameter Menu so you can draw the Automation Curve. Or you can use the Online Mix procedure and record the movement of the control while you are performing it in the mix.
  13. In the Audio Track Editor I can place both fingers on the Trackpad and moving them apart or closer together will zoom the Workspace accordingly. In the Audio File Editor this does not work. The only way to get it to much somehow is when "pinch-touch", quickly touching the trackpad while pinching or spreading the fingers. It is the same behavior when using the external trackpad on my iMac or the internal trackpad on my MacBook. OSX 10.9.4 LPX v10.0.7). I just tried it on the Yosemite Beta and it behaves exactly the same, so it must be Logic ... I guess.
  14. I have the same problem. Audio Tracks Editor works fine but Audio File Editor is so buggy (jumps to some zoom, sometimes, when pinching) that it is useless at the moment.
  15. An oversight of the developer to put the checkbox in the Configuration window. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be there. All the other parameters are there to select.
