  1. Thanks for that advice too... I think I am going to have to sell Logic afterall. (I have an emotional attachment as I've had it since 5 on the PC) So at the very least I'll need to include the dongle from 7, the serial number for 8 (with disks optional) and the whole box from 9. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks for the reply Triplets... So I'd need to give them the dongle from 7 (but not the disks), the disks and serial from 8, and really everything from 9. I could offer to mail *everything* but I guess it depends on what the buyer might want and if they're happy to pay for shipping! Thanks again
  3. Thought I'd add to this thread as it seemed closest to the information I was looking for! I'm considering selling Logic (times are tough and tend to use Live more these days). I have Logic 7 (dongle full version) and bought the upgrades to Pro 8 and Pro 9. The software is also registered but if the advise from David is still valid I shouldn't worry too much about that? (though I should let the buyer know?). Is it possible to 'de-register' my end? My main question is In order to sell someone Logic Pro 9 what items would I absolutely need to mail the buyer? I'm thinking they would need the disks and serial from 9 (and probably the box would be nice!) and the serial from 8... would they need the disks as well? (I'm loathed to mail that heavy box with manuals if it's not needed). Would they also need the dongle from 7 to safely install 9? Many thanks, any advice would be gratefully received. Alan
  4. ... As was already mentioned, Stillwell's/Schwa's plug-ins are NOT FREE. These guys are making great frugally-priced plug-ins and trusting folk to do the right thing after trying them. From their forums: The evaluation period is 30 days. They are absolutely uncrippled. The only difference is that after 30 days, you are technically violating the license agreement and starting to build up bad karma. That's it. No tricks, no disabled plugins or features, no nothing. We just require that at the end of 30 days (or before, if you've made up your mind) that you either remove the plugins from your computer, or buy a license. We have no way to force you to do that, and frankly, no desire to go out there and hold a gun to anyone's head via some technological booby-trap, so we just trust you guys to do the right thing, instead. It's easier for us, and better for you, since copy protection that isn't there can't screw up your computer. [ The easter egg is in lower left part of the GUI... try pressing stuff ]
  5. I had this problem a while back and posted on the Apple Logic 7 board. I would think this would work in Logic 8 (I'm now using a Duet) but here's the solution from Jord: "Go into Controller Assignments and click on the Control Surface: Mackie Control and find the F1 - 8 Recall ScreenSet # and turn OFF the Key Repeat (IOW, uncheck them). I just tried it and the Window Button works like a charm now".
  6. i got the beta to work under 10.5.2. the only thing i have to do (and it mentions this in M-Audio FAQ) is to 'click around' on the sampling rate settings in the Control Panel after starting the mac. Leopard Firewire Drivers are out for all except the P-Mix and one other product. As soon as I can afford it I'm out of M-Audio land!
  7. Interesting technique... I had a similar setup in 7 from modifying some of David's environment ideas. My question with Logic 8 is with getting Environment Mixer tracks to show up on my ProjectMix I/O channels... I've managed to work out a screenset in Logic 8 where I can switch between 3 sets of Mixer windows (A set of 8 stem Auxes/ A set of 8 'bus' Auxes / Arrange tracks) and the info shown on screen and on the PM matches up (which was impossible in 7). I was wondering if Environment Mixers are now treated differently in 8.
  8. Thanks for the reply... I figured as much but it seems odd to have mentioned multi-output instruments in this way, especially as the previous bullet point mentions the multi-effect advantage of Channel Strips. I did have a DHF (and a Ultrabeat) multi autoload template in Logic 7, just wondered if there was a more elegant solution than having all those auxes already assigned. I got the original template from here too!
  9. I came across the following in the Logic Pro manual: "Loading and Removing Entire Channel Strip Configurations [snip] You can use this facility in a number of ways, such as: [snip] Setting up particular routing configurations for use with multi-output software instruments." ... Does this mean that there is a way of recalling a multi-output instrument (Ultrabeat for example) and all of it's Auxillary channels in one easy go? I tried but couldn't get it to save anything other than the main stereo channel... does anyone know anything more about this? It would be a great time-saver, especially with plug-ins such as DFH Superior, where a full-on configuration (with overheads etc) would take a while to set up every time. Thanks in advance, Alan
  10. Do you have the latest version of RA installled? There was an update posted on the East West site which I needed to install before Logic 7 would see it (and one of the instruments needed replacing as a separate issue)... you should find details in the RA updates section.
  11. it's not free but audio damage have a great flanger called 'liquid' which has a real analog vibe to it. it is however only $29.
  12. If you still have proof of purchase or a legit license, there should be no reason for them to sell you anything, and if they have to replace the key they should do it for free. The color of the dongle should be of no importance. ... hmmm, i'm not sure i do (though i may have the upgrade receipt lurking around) although i did buy the 7.2 crossgrade from apple directly. i've actually just put in a new system disk and reinstalled everything afresh. so far no xs key issues at all. (on 10.4.10) thanks for the advice though sir!
  13. mine's the old blue key, from emagic days... it's really not been a huge issue for me, it's occasional. besides apple would probably just try to sell me a new white key.
  14. i have this happen quite frequently too... i just quite, take the key out, replace it and reboot. that normally works. maybe they'll offer new keys for the mythologically-renowned logic 8? (ot maybe they won't use dongles at all)
  15. thanks... i downloaded the player and culture instrument files yesterday. have to say i'm impressed with independence (the player is exactly the same but for the disabled import samples option) so far and it now works with more than 2 multi-instances of culture.. if i had the cash right now i would be upgrading to the full version.
