  1. See Ski, this is why your one of the heavyweights in this environment stuff. What 15 - 20 min & you have a solution. Im not being sarcastic here, we are truly not worthy sir!
  2. Thats pretty much exactly what I was thinking / trying to explain. more of a hardware style randomization function. cheap and dirty. not so flexible.... but still workable. Korgs Karma technology is pretty sweet stuff and like Ski said to do something like that would take a lot of work. I know one of the main Developers / Designers / Engineers there, hes a MEGA genius. That kind of programing I will have to leave to the heavyweights.
  3. True the chord memorizer is strictly to keep the notes in a given key / scale. Im using this process all the time. I know it works. Basically the randomizations happen with the Transformer Window as explained by the nice person who posted below. I have an entire environment page full of chord memorizers in different scales all done in C on a switcher so i can just choose the scale. I think you created a scaler already Ski which is here and there are a few others here as well. Could use that..... but Good points Ski, Thanks by the way for making the MPV MIDI tutorial. Well handy stuff to have around (got it when it first came out). .... after reading you suggestion... That's why your the master Ski, thats how you would put it together and have something really versatile. Actually Ill have to have a go at this today. Regards.
  4. Up waaaay too early, just realized you wanted to randomize in key after the fact not realtime. My bad. Thats even simpler to do. In the environment you create an instrument. This will be your sequence track that you randomize. Randomization can be done with the Transformer Window in the arrange page. The instrument you create name it in key random or something like that. Cable it to the chord memorizer (again set to the key scale you want). send that to either the sequencer input to record the results or to the instrument you want to play back from. Regards.
  5. Can I suggest the following… You will need to download and install midipipe (free) http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10541/midipipe A great little app that makes up for the very few things that you cant do in the environment. In truth you can do the entire process in midipipe, personally I like to keep as much in the environment as possible. So were only going to be randomizing notes here, but you can also set / fix incoming note durations as well in realtime. Something you can't do in the environment (easily). You basically want to set up a midi processing chain that works like this: Your controller keyboard --> midipipe midipipe output (or IAC bus) --> logic In midi pipe you just need to add a 3 pipes (or patches). 1 for your midi in from your keyboard 1 to Randomize the notes & 1 to send the randomized notes to logic. in logic's environment you want to make sure you bypass the direct midi signal from your controller so if you say had a oxygen8 you would want to connect its input in logic to a monitor object so it dead ends. Preventing any kind of midi feedback loop. In logic just place a chord memorizer (set up to only play notes in the scale you want) between the input from midipipe and the sequencer input. Job done. You can save the pipe and reuse it any time. There are several other ways you can do this with puredata or ableton live as a midi processor feeding into logic via IAC bus if you own live. I posted a thread about this a long time ago. I know it sounds convoluted but its like 3 minutes work tops. Hope this helps. Regards from Tokyo.
  6. Have a look at NI's Session Strings, really nice, designed with Disco in mind. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/powered-by-kontakt/session-strings/ Also check out the G-Force VSM, really nice. http://www.gforcesoftware.com/products/vsm
  7. Thanks Ski for the many years of your always informative and thoughtful advice! Definitely earned legendary status around here! Massive Respect!!!
  8. Thanks so much for confirming that. Always had me puzzled. Regards... C
  9. I was just wondering if anyone knew how do I delete a custom transform window set? I'm working on a template and want to delete one of my transformer custom settings. Thanks C
  10. Just wanted to confirm NI Reaktor 5.6 now 64bit Compatible. Im using it now. Works great!
  11. Here is a neat little app that might help. TinyMidi LFO http://sourceforge.net/projects/midilfo/ Video Demo: The file seems to be missing from the site - will see if I can get permission to upload it somewhere. There is still a copy on the KVR Developer Challenge 2009 Page, you can find it here: http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_challenge_2009.php#dc09_32
  12. I used an app called little snapper. you can check it out here: http://www.realmacsoftware.com/littlesnapper/ . Enjoy!
  13. I'm really glad you got it worked out. It's exactly what David laid out in his post above. Sometimes the visuals are all that's needed to figure things out. Enjoy!
  14. I like "Click" in PT because I can just 'activate' it and it will give me clicks that are synced to the tempo I don't want to be drawing midi notes or what not to do something like that if you get my gist... I have tried both Klopfgeist, the 'built-in' one works like a charm... but not very convenient because I can't tweak its outputs and volume on the fly... The Synth/plug version seems very much more familiar to PT's Click... but do I really need to map out MIDI notes for it to work? surely it can read my tempo thingy and click to that.....? Am I doing anything wrong? Sorry if I misunderstood you before. I just checked everything and you can tweak the built in Click, it's a Klopfgeist instrument. Its located on the last instrument channel of your mixer. If you open the mixer (arrange window) and choose show instruments or all channels from the view options you will see the Klopfgeist if you click on it you can change the setting. Im taking about the internal clock Klopfgeist that's in sync with the Logic. You can even add it to the arrange page if you want by choosing options -> Create arrange track for selected channel strip so u can edit it on the fly. Let me know if this helps.
