  1. Right now I have a MacBook pro 15". I am having no problem with running logic. I am wondering if the new MacBook airs will run logic studio? I work overseas and baggage weight is always an issue. It looks like it would work but I haven't made it to an apple store to check one out. any one have any thoughts?
  2. It is a yamaha, but not sure the model number, 32 channel analog board is all i know. probably ten years old or so. I am in Africa at the moment so i will have to email someone to find out. do you take the Y adater and run it into two seperate channels?
  3. Last week I tried to use my macbook as an accompany track at church, i had pre-recorded bits to a song in logic, strings drums etc, and just wanted to play live to it instead of bouncing the project to CD. When I went it to set everything up i had no luck, I used the 1/8 line-output from the macbook into a DI box. I tried ten different channels on the board but had no luck at all, everytime it would sound ok for about 3 seconds and then the drums would wash out and the whole thing just sounded like crap, I even tried 3 different DI boxes. While discussing with a friend he thought it might have to do with the fact that the project was in stereo and I was sending that to one DI box instead of splitting the signal and sending it to two seperate channels. I have not been back to try this and see if it makes a difference, But I am wondering if it is just the LINE out on the macbook itself, it is a white 2009 model macbook, the last model before the unibody, and it is essentially the headphone jack on the mac. I have a firepod, and also have the Maudio fast track, with the firepod having 1/4 line outs on the back of it. i will try this method next. But secondly, is there a product out that works via USB or Firewire that has XLR out? if So I could skip the DI box as I have no way of inputting 1/4 cables into our sound board.
  4. No, no recordings online yet, the idea that I am wanting to try is different than anything i have done before though so even my old recordings would not work. Once I put this together Ill put it online and send you a link Im going to spend tonight fooling around with Mainstage, try to see if i can figure it out Thanks again
  5. Thanks for the reply Nigel, The main reason I am doing the songs this way is that The chord progression is different during the verses than the chorus. And we do a lot of improvisation. So I have no way of knowing before hand how long the imporv might go on for. Therefor what i have done recently is record the loop I am wanting to use for each section and then set the pok up to either mute or unmute that track, so when switching from the verse to the chorus i unmute chorus and then mute the verse, the first 4 beats of the chorus and the verse is the same chord so it has not been a problem. I have only had logic for a few months and have spent the majority of my time learning how to record and using logic live is something extremely new to me. when we tried the last time this is what I did, so i have 4 parts to this song, and they are all the same counts, 8 measures each, I just set it up to play in a continuos loop and then muted or unmuted the track i wanted depending on where we were at in the song, i guess I kindof answered my question as to just record the next song in Audio format, and import each part of the song in its own track. i was just wondering if there was an easier way to skin this cat. I will have to try mainstage, but to be honest, i have never even opened it one time
  6. I have a Axiom 61, and I also own the POK editor. I have used the POK editor on multiple occasions of playing with loops live and switching between different parts of the song, my question here is. I would like to know if it is possible to use the midi to switch between projects? My dilema is I am starting with a song at 110 BPM, and the second song is 120 BPm, i would like to just assign a pedal on the POK to switch between the two progects on the fly so there is no break between songs. the only way that I can see of doing this at this moment is to bounce all my loops as audio then import them all into a new project, that way the sounds are played as raw audio and not controlled by the project tempo. What is the best solution for what i am trying to do?
  7. Hello, I have Logic studio and a presonus Firepod. I am wondering, I see different type of EQ's and Preamps that presonus makes, the guys at guitar center were trying to sell me a Presonus ACP-88. Is this something that as a Logic studio user that I would benefit from, or in your opinions do the logic EQ, Compressor, and noise gates work suffeciently enough without spending extra money on gear i dont need? Thanks for the info
  8. I have searched far and wide and still cant find the answer to this, is it even possible?
  9. I recently bought logic express and am learning it slowly. Yesterday I learned how to use rewire to input sounds from reason and record the audio in logic. But what I would like to do, which would be better is to record midi in logic, but use sounds from reason through rewire, this way if i dont like a sound later on i can change the instrument without having to replay and record the audio. Im sure this is easy but I have spent two hours now trying to find a good tutorial on the subject. By the way I work on a ship in africa and youtube is blocked so if there are video tutorials i cant watch them. If someone knows of a good tutorial for what I am looking for please post the link to it, no need to reinvent the wheel. Thanks in advance for your time and help J by the way forgot all of this Macbook 13 inch, standard, 2gb of ram 500gb hd reason 4.0 logic express, just bought it and installed the latest updates, not sure what version that might be (laptop is currently in my room)
