  1. One side-issue with always working stoned is you sometimes forget stuff. I often wonder if there should be a "stoner config" option that helps old hippes with things like this. Presumably Logic knows when the last clip ends and if there's hours between that and the song "end", oh I dunno, just looking for excuses really... Must learn to distinguish between those different shades of grey
  2. Ah good point, I wonder if that's the case. I do often set a long end time in order that my recordings don't stop awkwardly - I bet that's it! Will go look, thanks
  3. But I've *always* worked this way, a lot of my songs are longer than 8 minutes. I'm even fairly sure Logic X allowed it just fine until recently. And if Wavelab can render a Wav from exactly the same material, why not Logic?
  4. This is something new, a warning I'm creating a wav of over 4Gb. I came to bounce a song last night (of around 8 mins) and saw this warning for the first time. I had to open the audio in Wavelab and render my song there to create my wav but hopefully this is fixable? Can't be right, surely?
  5. I did my first bounce last night - was surprised that LPX projects didn't have the same folder structure as LP9 (there was no bounce folder for example) but I guess there must be an option I missed? The bounce itself worked OK though. I was wondering why it wasn't possible to position the icons for bounce and bounce clips next to each other? Surely more logical if they were? All it appears you can do it tick options, you've no control over their positioning or size. Odd that.
  6. I've had problems with Omnisphere since Mountain Lion/LPX - I now get crackles on LP9 with patches that worked smoothly before the "upgrade". I've got by with 12Gb of RAM for ages so have ordered more...
  7. I think, given hindsight, I may have rushed into upgrading at the mention of "quantize to scale" and flex tune. As a result I upgraded the OS (and for some reason now I get performance issues on Omnisphere, even with LP9, which is new) and then, when I saw the dark lines on dark background arrange window, ordered a new monitor to hopefully make that bearable. It turns out the implementation of quantize to scale isn't great (OK I'm comparing to Cubase) so I'm maybe gonna keep using LP9 for a while, assuming I can work out how to get the same performance as before. It could be that in a week or two I'll have been lured back in and will feel generally better about it, but so far I've spent a fair amount of cash but don't feel I'm in a better position, except I have a nice new monitor. As someone just said: if it ain't broke....
  8. thanks man, you're probably right. I probably took them from LP9, although what possessed me to change that, who knows? That's the command I was looking for, cheers!
  9. This might sound a weird question but why does the whole screen flash when I do a Control-N inside the piano roll editor? It's as if I've made an error and there's no comforting indication anything's happened.
  10. Fair enough and good point. To clarify: I'm not saying it shouldn't be included in the piano roll editor, just that a faster way of changing a whole range of tracks at once should be available, as per Cubase since prehistoric times. It's one of those things that, once you get used to it, you really, really pine for it.
  11. Worked OK once I went right out then in again, much obliged to you sir
  12. It's great we have the ability to transpose notes to specific scales in Logic X, however the list of scales is quite short so not quite delivering the benefits I hoped. Please consider adding the ability to include user scales, either defined by clicking notes on a simple piano graphic or editing then resaving the existing scales - the UI doesn't matter too much as long as it works. I'd even offer to set up a whole load of scales myself to contribute to the project as this is a feature I've used a lot over the years (in Cubase then the Sequentix P3 and Cirklon sequencers). Thanks for listening Paul
  13. It doesn't appear to have impacted my Logic 9 at all. At least I used it extensively yesterday (the dark majesty of X was turning me gloomy). Perhaps the content is duplicated, wouldn't surprise me. I spent an hour or so trying to work out where the 30+Gb went and what value it has to me but so far came up empty. Lots of drums and reverbs I noticed but I'm struggling to know if there's anything I'm gonna use. Based on my experiences so far I'd probably not bother with the bulk of the content. You can always grab it later if you feel there's a hole in your X world.
  14. Thanks man! Maybe I should clarify a bit as I'm not sure Apple understood the function when they added it. When transposing/quantizing to scale, it only really makes sense to do all (non-percussion anyway) parts on all tracks across the same range of bars. This is why it seems so weird they added it to the piano roll editor. It's one level up from where you'd instinctively do it. Still, Control-N is something I haven't tried so many thanks, will give it a go. It's still going to be a bit laborious in terms of workflow (compared to Cubase anyway) as it involves selecting multiple clips, entering piano roll, selecting all notes, then we're into the good stuff of choosing scale/key, add Control-N to verify I want the changes made real, move to next 4 bar chunk and repeat. Slow but definitely better than all previous Logics. As I've been requesting this feature for years, it would've been so nice if they included a healthy list of scales rather than the miserable selection provided. I mean, here's the list from Cubase Atari ST from over 20 years ago, surely a good place to start for a much-requested feature: Major, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Blues 1, Pentatonic, Mixolydian +11/-9, Lydian Diminished, Blues 2, Major Augmented, Arabian, Balinese, Hungarian 1, Oriental, Raga-Todi, Chinese, Hungarian 2, Japanese 1, Japanese 2, Persian, Diminished, Whole Tone. There are some even cooler Raga scales in the manual of Korg's ESX-1 drum machine (IIRC). Could someone more powerful than I possibly ask Apple to add a few more and thus make the feature genuinely useful? I'm prepared to sacrifice a goat or whatever it takes if they'll consider it for X and not XX. I'll even stop moaning about how gloomy the program now looks, honest.
