  1. Hey, it's not supposed to be a criticism, it sounds great! But it does sound modern. I mean, it's got that modern-retro vibe, but it doesn't actually sound like a record from the 70's. No-one would buy that these days! I remember a while ago watching an interview with a producer at Capitol. He said that he gets people saying "I want it to sound just like music from the 50's!", and he has to smile and nod, even though he knows full well that no-one wants their record to sound like a record from the 50's. It's his job to reinterpret that idea and put it through the lens of modern tastes. It feels to me like that's what you've done, and you've done it really well. It sounds really good and modern, but at the same time has a really cool retro vibe to it.
  2. I think it sounds great! More retro-faux-vintage than actually vintage though... it's in stereo for a start! The name of that band rings a bell...
  3. I was talking about the compressor!
  4. Wow, that stereoizer looks like the controls to a starship! Logic's plugins sure got pretty while I was away
  5. Good energy, and I was impressed with how she handled the low-to-high part The vocal sound is crazy airy and wide, what did you do to it?
  6. Hi there everybody, long time no see! I've not been around because I don't use Logic anymore, but David gave me special dispensation to share some music a while back, so I thought I'd share this one, mainly because it's nice and short [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] Hope you guys are all doing well
  7. If all you want is simple keys, then M-Audio are cheap and functional. Keystation is fine if you're not bothered about weighted keys or aftertouch - with the bonus of weighing next to nothing and being cheap to replace: both big plus points for gigging!
  8. Cool, when is the Andy Wallace fader-riding plugin coming out?
  9. It's not possible, because music isn't written that way. If you're writing polymetric music, some parts will be crossing bar lines. You can create seperate click tracks with a software instrument so that the beat division matches the meter of each part.
  10. Bad news: if you're using a software instrument, such as EZDrummer, then you can't have a no latency setup. That only works by direct monitoring, which also sounds like the guitars you're hearing - because direct monitoring is just whatever is plugged in to your interface without any of Logic's plugins or processing. Good news: with software monitoring (monitoring through Logic, which is what you need), it is possible to have very little latency, equivalent to being a few feet away from a speaker in terms of how delayed the audio is. You just have to reduce Logic's audio buffer to as little as possible, without suffering any drop-outs in audio.
  11. I've never used chorus on vocals, but here is a really nice free chorus plug: http://acondigital.com/products/multiply/
  12. Another trick I've used a lot in conjunction with distortion is using impulse responses from this Speakers and Telephones set: http://fokkie.home.xs4all.nl/IR.htm Gives it that extra "shouting through an intercom" effect.
