  1. So I've been using Logic since 1995 with no problems, but have recently just upgraded to Mojave 10.14.5 with a new install on the latest MacBook Pro, and there's a few very annoying problems. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this:- Firstly, there seems to be some disconnect with the playhead and the actual tempo playback speed. The playhead appears to be moving at a totally different tempo from everything else. Secondly, and most annoyingly, clicking on any of the transport controls - particularly Play and Stop - causes Logic's entire Window to move about the screen. This is CRAZY annoying if you happen to be like me and are playing and stopping all of the time. Literally, every 15 seconds or so I have to move the screen back up into the center, because it keeps drifting off in one direction or another. Sure.... an easy workaround is to use a hardware transport (which I do have) but still, for portable projects and quick sessions it's crazily stupid to have the window moving about gradually as a consequence of playing and stopping. Anyone know what's going on here?
  2. Kinda new there wouldn't be a solution to this. I've been trying to get it working for over ten years. Was hoping Logic X would have solved this. Alas, no.
  3. Okay so this is driving me a bit nuts. How can I audition loops and samples in the Apple Loops inspector in the sample rate that pertains to the project? I have a bunch of 96kHz sound effects which I need to use all the time, but my projects are all in 44.1Khz. When I audition the sound effect it plays unconverted. That is to say 96Khz at 44.1Khz. The net result is an audition half-speed and half pitch which is annoying, because some of these sounds are whooshes and white noise and I often forget they're auditioning at half-speed and end up trying to use them. (Which means I select a SFX thinking, hmm, that sounds nice, but really when I drag it into the arrange area everything converts to the 'proper way' it should sound and I didn't really get the DEEEEP whoosh I was looking for.) How can I hear in the Apple Loops inspector, exactly how these sounds should sound were they to be converted on import to the arrange area? Thanks in advance.
  4. Yep true enough. Just wondered if it had its own name.
  5. By the way, if you'd like another one, I'm also trying to figure this one out:- C - C# - D# - E - F# - G# - A - B - C The reason I like names is because typically I would stumble over these scales while improvising at the keyboard, and would want to learn more about them from the Internet etc.
  6. Hello could anyone help me identify this scale. C - D - Eb - F - G - Ab - Bb - B - C It's basically an Aeolian scale in C with an added B natural. But does it have its own name?

    Score Bugs?

Are there any bugs in score mode for Logic? Typically, I've always found Logic's scoring facilities to be nightmarish and so have tended to either use other applications or stayed away from scoring completely. However I thought I'd dive into the Logic X orchestral template score to see if it had improved much. Here's what I found:- So I start with a cello line. Things are going great as I'm dragging the notes onto the cello stave part of the conductor score. However, I then playback my melody and suddenly the screen jumps to the top of the conductor score making the cello part unviewable. Scrolling back down, I try again and... same result. So I fiddle around with Link and Catch Playhead to no avail. I suppose I could zoom out, but that's hardly an ideal fix. Then, I double click on the background of the score, quite by chance. Suddenly the score gets all messed up - staves crashing into other staves and all sorts - completely botched layout. Have no way of getting it back. I reload the orch template and promise myself not to double click the conductor score again, and to save regularly in case I do. Then I press the furthest left View Mode button. The left most portion of the stave is suddenly underneath the grey bit of the left hand information panel. What's it doing there? I can't get it into the yellow proper bit. I give up with that, and go back to the conductor view. I'd like to copy my cello melody onto the Basoons. I select the notes, press Option and drag over to the bassoons....but alas I cannot move the melody out of the perimeter of the cello pitch range. (Notably different from when you first enter a note onto the conductor score, which can be placed on any instrument in the score and cycles through each pitch range accordingly). Any suggestions? Thanks.
  8. What Apple should consider employing is a discount, based on how many days ago LP9 was purchased. If LP9 was bought 1 day before LPX was released, then you get a 100% discount on LPX. If LP9 was bought 2 days before LPX was released, then you get a 99% discount on LPX. 3 days = 98% 4 days = 97%. etc etc 99 days = 2%... 100 days = 1%... Purchases older than 100 days has no discount.
  9. That's the one I meant yes. Where is the checkbox located?
  10. The first time I played with drummer, the thing that came to my mind is 'expandability'. I expect (hope) there's going to be some verrrrry attractive expansions in the pipeline, and if they're competitively priced, they'll be seriously tempting. Agreed. Could do with some jazz/bebop drummers. Actually when I first started playing with it, the various "personalities" of each "drummer" grated me, like suddenly I was playing some trivial music-themed playstation game..... But it's grown on me a bit, and is certainly very helpful for rough sketches.
  11. Summed stacks. iPad transport and key commands. Scrolling main window. Compressor indicator in mixer.
