I am working on some backing tracks to use with a live band, (the tracks have bass, keys and back-up vocals), and am wondering what the best way to get a consistent mix is. Since I am using different bass sounds from track to track it's hard to tell what levels to use on say, something like a super fat "Basement Bass", vs. a thinner "Session Bass", and still be able to have them sound like they are at about the same level in the final mix when it's coming through some massive PA speakers. Is the multimeter the best tool to use to gauge the relative volume of a the frequency ranges in a track, or is there another way? Does anyone have any suggestions about how to achieve better consistency from track to track?
Thanks,
Robin
