  1. got it! - Plug in Delay needed to be on OFF - never had to do that before - must have hit some key command somewhere in there!
  2. Super thanks Shiver - that fixed my playback problem - Ski I've followed all yr advice on the automation issue and all my auto curves are still playing back a beat early. Weirdest thing ever. =p
  3. Hey Ski! Nice to see ya man - been since the Seattle Logic Meeting! Thanks for the automation tip, but any idea why when I hit play it cues a beat back?
  4. So when I hit play - it always cues back a single beat ie - if playhead is on meas. 4 - playback will cue to meas 3 - beat 4. ALSO all automation is playing back a beat early. so if i had a punch in say for a bar from bar 3-4 the automation will play back from bar 2 beat 4 to bar 3 beat 4. offset by a 1/4 note. bizarre. any ideas? super thanks. =p -Channel
  5. Yeah, there's no way I moved those prefs around. I dunno what happened. Funny thing tho. Logic started opening my last saved session on start-up. I had it set to "Do Nothing". Looks like ALL my prefs have randomly reverted to default. Bizzarre.
  6. So all my key commands have gone back to the default setting. Was talking to Dave Gross about this and he seemed to think there might be a key command to go back to Default settings that i may have accidentally hit. Opt K takes me to the Key Cmd window and there is an option for Import Key Commands. I have recently backed up everything on a TB drive so I should be able to direct Logic there to grab my settings. Does anyone know the exact file path, or if you need to trash old prefs or anything like that? thanks, -Chris Herrera
  7. seems like if it aint broke dont fix it.... + "10.5.5 or greater highly rec."--- im on 10.4.11 (bad idea?) http://www.apogeedigital.com/downloads/documents.php?show=duet
  8. ok so i imported a bunch of FX samples from my HD into EXS. then I created different GROUP names for each TYPE of effect. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/Picture3.png Then I, one by one, moved each sample into each group. Now when I click say LONGER SWEEPS, it highlights all the samples across the Keymap at the bottom of the editor. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/Picture4.png What I want EXS to do is, map each group on consecutive keys for each group without having to move them one by one. Anyone know how to do this?
  9. here's a screenshot btw... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/makinitscreenshot.png
  10. OUT NOW ON TELEVISIONARY http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/Felix-Stone-Makinitart2.jpg Felix Stone Original Mix Sample Channel Surfer Remix Sample http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/Beatport_Logo_AI.gif TVR ON BEATPORT Felix Stone brings a healthy dose of progressive breaks to Televisionary. "Makin' It" is inspired by Burning Man with a heavily syncopated rhythm, tweeky synth lines, and layered percussive elements. With its dark, foreboding vibe and esoteric feel, one might think of it as "Experimental Breaks". Don't miss the dirty, stompin', 4 to the floor remix by Channel Surfer. The straight-beat Channel remix brings some of the hidden synth lines to the front, and uses distinct percussion with a sub-bassy kick resulting in a Channel track like never before. This is one for the Burners and the "fringe" element and TVR is proud to bring it to you. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/tele-1-1.jpg
  11. I have been mastering in Soundtrack Pro, using some native Logic plugs and a couple 3rd party plugs. I have a very refined chain that I have been getting great results from for some time now. Problem is: with STP I can't seem to save templates for those chains to say easily dump in an updated mixdown and replace the older file then render down with the same plug chain. In waveburner you can do this easily. Just open the session, delete the file, import the new one, render down. Done. Problem is with WB: You can't see the waveform quite as well as you can with STP. Even maximized it's not quite as nice as STP. So, I'm beginning to wonder if I should just start new Logic sessions and master the files in there? Is there any reason that would not be advisable? or Is there a way to easily import new files in STP and render them down using STP sessions as a template? What are your guys' thoughts? -Channel
  12. not sure if this will do the job but: open yr standard logic compressor. in the bottom left corner there's an arrow. click the arrow, and start experimenting with "SIDE CHAIN FILTER" that might be a step in the right direction. funny, i need to start exploring this as well, so let us all know how it goes... hope that helps. -Channel
  13. huge tip for me, thanks very much. funny tho, on certain OFF's ill still get a little "chug" or "glitch" any suggestions for smoothing those out?
  14. Hey guys, So I like "Punching In" Automation on individual tracks AND the master channel. Some of the Logic Plugs I trust on my master channel being on the whole time but with no effect being applied. For instance, the Tape Delay does not color the sound if left active on the master channel as long as there is no wet signal. But other more aggressive effects and third party stuff CANNOT be left active on the master channel and then have automation curves written to it. You have to "punch in" some of these effects, write the auto curves for them and then punch them out. Of course, Logic gives you a yellow read out, but often times the numbers are not perfect and "snapped to" so to speak. Here's an example of a simple MUTE automation im using on a line that has a Tape Delay for a HEAVY feedback build up. I need the OFF to happen very precisely. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/rollymouf/Picture10.png Is there a way to "quantize" automation so all the ON and OFFS are perfectly on beat, sometimes Ill get little crappy 'glitches" where a given effect obviously did not turn on or off at the exact tick. Any suggestions? -Channel
  15. I went thru a whole debacle where I installed Leopard fresh on my PPC G5, then did a fresh install of Logic 8 only to find that the new M-Audio BETA driver was completely useless for me. No audio in/out, no mid in/out. Logic seemed to see that it was there but nothing worked on it. However it was working just fine for itunes/internet...etc.... I ended up doing a fresh re-install of 10.4.11, re-install of Logic 7.1.1 and rebuilt my sessions one by one with manual finds for all the sounds and samples. Not thrilled about that BETA driver at all. Even when a proper Leopard driver does come out I'll prolly stay on 10.4.11 and install L8 after this current project is turned into the label.
