  1. I have the opposite impression of the Axiom Pro. No sticky keys. The firmness of the faders make it easier to make small adjustments, no problem with the rotary knobs, no screen flickering, and I don't know what you mean by it feeling like cheap crap. My first impression upon taking it out of the box was how nice the build quality seemed. I like it. By the way, that's an Axiom 61 in that video, not an Axiom Pro.
  2. I'm not an expert on mic positioning for this use, so someone else can chime in, but I might try a sort of xy setup with one mic pointed to the right side of the stage and other pointed to the left. I've only ever recorded a live performance off the board, or with a Flip video camera, which has pretty decent audio quality. (better than iPhone, which I agree is not so terrible either) I would advise to try to mount the mics or recorder somewhere high above crowd level to reduce bar peeps noise as much as possible. Most bar recordings I've heard have crowd noise that can be louder than the music at times. Good luck, and don't expect miracles!
  3. Well you don't mention what equipment you have. I'm going to assume since there's no budget that you won't be buying anything. If you list out what you have, someone can better help you come up with a solution. But a simple setup could be to use a couple of condenser mics, put them through an interface, into a laptop, record with Logic (or whatever) and make sure the signals don't clip.
  4. +1 about the Mighty Mouse sucking and the Magic Mouse rocking.
  5. In other words, your best bet is to learn your theory. Will knowing the key be helpful to you without knowing the theory behind it?
  6. This looks potentially sweet. But to clarify, what they're offering now is a free trial. When it comes out of beta it will be a paid service.
  7. I enjoyed this. Both his words and his playing. It seems like comping as he describes it just doesn't exist in many genres of music. I don't see how any true lover of music could not get into some jazz every now and then. And classical. There's so much to learn from it.
  8. I have the 15 inch and am very happy with it. 1) My fan does not run that much and only gets annoyingly loud when I'm offline bouncing. (or doing other similarly processor heavy operations) I only do tracking and rough mixing on it though. I do my heavy mixing on the MacPro. 2) It's not the font size that is the problem. It's the screen resolution and it's apparently too high for your eyesight at that screen size. That's something you could (should) have investigated before making the purchase. Possibly solutions (besides returning it) would be to have the computer checked out for a possible fan problem and use an external display. Sorry it's not working out for you, though.
  9. Which is precisely why no one can tell you which is better for you. Only you know that. BTW, I use the Intuos3 for my photoshop work and LOVE it. I once you get used to it for brush edits a mouse will never feel right again. I'll pick up a 4 one of these days. I've never considered using it for Logic. I use a Magic Mouse for that and I like it.
  10. Thanks for confirming what I thought was the case. I assumed it was a given that the speakers would be turned in toward the listener which is why I couldn't figure out how the woofer and tweet would be different distances from the ear. I actually will be turning my speakers on their sides in order to bring the tweeters down to ear level, or pretty close. I just need a pad to put under each of them.
  11. I can't image many people (if anyone) would pick up on a .03ms difference. But honestly I guess I'm still a little confused about the math here. (I didn't take trig!) But if the tweeter is 1-2 cm farther from your ear than the woofer, then wouldn't a small rotational adjustment of the speaker take care of that? The whole idea seems a little ridiculous to me anyway considering your head is not going to be in the same place all the time, even within the "sweet spot".
  12. Can you expand on that? I don't get it. How could laying a speaker on its side change the time it takes for the lower frequencies to hit your ear? I've seen many professional studios that have near field monitors mounted on their sides.
  13. Ok dude, exactly at the point in this video where you talk about your previous videos freezing people's computers, MY COMPUTER FROZE! This is my new MacBook Pro and it had not frozen up once...till now. And it wasn't the cpu overheating issue. It's currently nice and cool. I would like to think your video did it. What's the deal? As far as the video itself, it was looking promising before "the incident". I would agree that the audio needs help. There is too much work going into the visual to have such low quality audio.
  14. Amazing artwork. Did you tell him his monitors are too close together?
  15. Right click (or control-click) on the project file. Select "Get Info" Look for "Open with:" and on the dropdown menu select "Logic Pro" Then click the Change All... button.
