  1. All of my MIDI instruments play each other, and play any instrument I have on any track in LPX (10.4.4) except my Roland TDW-20 VDrums. I've managed to get it narrowed down to a problem that exists between my MOTU MIDIExpress 128 interface and my iMac/LPX. I did a factory reset of the VDrums. The VDrums have local control turned off, clock source set to external, and I see the active sensing signal in the interface. The active sensing signal flutters/activates when I strike a pad, as it should. MIDI is getting to the interface. All cables checked and verified. I instantiate a software instrument track with Drum Kit Designer on it, and all of my MIDI keyboards will play those drums. I have the correct/updated driver for the VDrums. I've chosen the V-Drum input mapping from the drop down within DKD. The VDrums show up in MIDI Preferences > Inputs and the box is checked. The MME128 works with the other MIDI devices it has connected to it. No MIDI gets into LPX from the VDrums. Does anybody have any ideas what the devil is wrong here? I've racked my brain for two days and can't figure it out. Most of the posts found on the WWW are about Audio, not MIDI. Any ideas?
  2. Found out what was wrong and got it fixed. I had deleted the devices, after I sold them, in Audio MIDI Setup, but, somewhere, AMS remembered them. They were nowhere to be found from my explorations. So, I created a new configuration and manually added only the keyboards/drums I actually have now. Started up LPX and went to MIDI preferences > Inputs, and the offending devices were still listed, but this time I was able to single-click on the item name in the Port column, and the backspace key deleted them. So, all good now. Basically, it seems, AMS was giving LPX the wrong information.
  3. This is what my Audio MIDI Setup shows. Powered on or not, when I right-click on the device, the options are greyed out.
  4. Try this: How to attach files to your post Thanks. Got it now.
  5. I want to delete the unchecked items, plus more that aren't visible.
  6. Does anyone know how to get rid of MIDI inputs for devices I no longer have? I'm at Logic Pro Preferences > MIDI > Inputs. I want to delete the unchecked items. Thanks. (Thanks for the picture attachment lesson also)
  7. Bit of an old thread, but I'm looking for something else and stumbled across it. My MP was too loud for me. I did some research and ended up removing the original equipment video card and putting in the NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 120 512MB-ZML MC002ZM/A video card. 100% difference. Very quiet ever since.
  8. I'm sure this has already been covered elsewhere, but I can't find it. I upgraded to L9 from L8. What now? Are there files that I should delete from L8 to reclaim the hard drive space? Can someone point me to the post that's surely covered this in the past? Thanks.
  9. Anybody out there have any advice on a choir virtual instrument for L9? I love Voxos but don't have the cash. Avatar-style primal choirs is what I'm looking for. Any advice out there? Preferably inexpensive advice?
  10. My Clavinova CVP 407 will import MIDI files that my piano store has available, so there has to be a way to get it to work. Have you tried here? http://cvpug.com/forums/archive/index.php/f-1.html If you do get it to work from Logic (my plans also, eventually) would you post the solution here? If I figure it out first, I'll do the same.
  11. Sorry I forgot to update my post. Here's the gist: The Sub 8 is awesome and the remote control is really handy. The mixes are translating really well to iPod with Sony earbuds, audio for home stereo with Polk Audio RTI A7, truck stereo (CD audio and iPod) with Alpine head unit, Eclipse amps, MTX sub and Focal speakers, and Polk audio bookshelf speakers (CD and iPod) at work model RTi A3, I think. Sounding really good with my ATH M-50 headphones as well. I'm really happy with the setup and I recommend the sub, hands down. I had to decrease the high gain on the back of the speakers a bit. Like my buddy said, and I agree "It's like I never heard music before." Best monitors I've ever had, or heard.
  12. Logic, of course, makes it easy. Basically, you press the key command for learning a new assignment, ctrl-K, and that will open the Controller Assignments window, with the Learn Mode button activated. Then you move the control on the Ax that you want to assign to your selected parameter and Logic receives MIDI that will appear in the input message field. Then click the Learn button and you're done. The process can be repeated for all of the controls on the Ax. It's really easy and VERY cool. And you can also reassign any of the automatically mapped controls in Logic's instruments. I've used the Ax now, just fartin' around, with Camel Audio's Alchemy (KILLER SI), and GForce Software's impOSCAR, minimonsta, Oddity, and M-Tron Pro. Works like a charm. Also, once you get it where you want, you can save it as an Axiom preset.
  13. The M-Audio Axiom 49 2nd generation is a great little controller for those times when you don't need your real keyboards. This thing is complex and sends/receives midi messages of all kinds and flavors. The DirectLink auto mapping feature is cool as hell. Push one button, you have control of your DAW's mixer section - I use Logic - push another button and your software instrument pops up on the screen. Push another button and the Ax automatically maps to controls like filter, resonance, etc. on the instrument. It does not map perfectly to non-Apple software instruments, but it does ok and can always easily be reassigned. Easy to read and multiple messages LCD display, also. The keys feel OK, they say they are "semi-weighted" and they are, but it's obviously spring activated. They feel good though, and the octave switches allow you to set the range up or down a few octaves with only a very slight pause. Sliders, buttons, knobs and wheels are all rubberized, as are the pads. The controls feel great and they don't feel cheap. The Ax is USB bus powered and does not need an external power supply for operation. I installed the drivers and such, went to the M-Audio website for the correct Direct Link software for Logic, and installed that. Plugged in the USB cable, turned on the Ax, and began playing with no further set-up required. Highly recommended!
