  1. Thanks Eriksimon. My problem is number 2. When you said cache it hit me and I made a short test. Obviously the problem comes from the "CleanMyMac" tool that cleans/delete the audiounit cache, everytime I run the clean-up. The question is now: Shall I disable the caches checkbox in the CleanMyMac tool, so that it doesn't clean the caches OR is there another smarter way to handle this? Thanks
  2. My Macbook constantly scans the audio units at program start, more often than my iMac does. I don't know why, but is there any way to avoid or disable this? It takes ages. Thanks Arp
  3. No problem. 1. When Soundcloud says "uploading in 320kbps 44.1kHz" they mean 320kbps AND 44.1kHz. If your project is set to 48kHz sample rate, you cannot bounce to Mp3, 44.1, for some reasons. But don't worry. 48 kHz is fine, too. 2. If you want to fulfill the Soundcloud requirement the answer is YES.
  4. Thanks Erik for the nice test. I asked Soundcloud again and this time I got a different and obviously more honest answer: "I'm afraid we have to transcode all tracks but we recommend uploading in 320kbps 44.1kHz with at least -3db of headroom. This will produce the best results. MP3s will have more pronounced recoding artifacts and lossless formats will be slightly better." The last hours I made several test and I can totally agree to ev. Juda$ Sleaze. I don't really hear the differences. To my ears it doesn't sound like garbage. You can compare by yourself. I've uploaded my tracks with MP3, 128kbps. Take the first one and compare it with the attached MP3. The attachment might be a little louder, but it doesn't sound much worse. Right? Maybe my ears are a little wasted. Anyhow, I will follow the advise from Soundcloud uploading 320kbits with a little headroom. I am a mountain.mp3.zip
  5. Thanks for straighten this out.
  6. I'm wondering, do I get the same results if I either: 1. Bounce in Logic directly to MP3. or 2. Bounce in Logic to PCM, 44,1, 16bit and create the MP3 in iTunes? ? Thanks
  7. Oh my god, this sounds horrible!! I haven't compared the files yet, but if this is true, if they really sounds like garbage, I'm considering not to use SoundCloud and to do it an alternative way, if there is one. The problem is, SoundCloud became quite poerful. Rootmusic, for instance, only allows uploads from SoundCloud. Anyway, I will do some test uploads in different formats and try to verify the statements in the thread.
  8. Here is what SC says about it: Question: "If I upload a MP3 with 128 kbps will it be re-encoded as well?" Answer: "If you upload your tracks in the same format as our SoundCloud spec then the answer is no.."
  9. Yes, I will ask Soundcloud and post the answer. Then we know.
  10. Eriksimon, thanks for your input. Yes, SC allows you to upload PCM files (aif, wav) Are you sure that SC decodes a MP3 128 file to PCM and then back to MP3. Sounds irrational. If it's true, then a PCM file will definitely be the best solution, exept from the upload duration.
  11. Archiec, if you let Soundcloud re-encode your tracks, have you thought about uploading PCM files instead? I guess, for the re-encoding it wouldn't make a difference.
  12. Hi, I want to upload my new mixes to Soundcloud in order to link them to whatever website. In the Soundcloud help I've read the following statements. "In order for users to hear music rapidly on the SoundCloud platform, we re-encode every track to high quality 128 kbps MP3s" "...we suggest uploading in 320kbps 44.1kHz with at least -3db of headroom. " I wonder, what is the best format to upload? - PCM (16bit, 44.1 kHz) - MP3 (320kbps, 44.1 kHz) as recommended - MP3 (128kbps, 44.1 kHz) as endformat Will the tracks lose quality if Souncloud re-encodes them? Can I have your advise? Thanks a lot. Arp
  13. Thanks both for your input. I guess I have to play a little bit with it and find out for myself what is the best for me. In any case it was good to hear that I'm doing not absolutely wrong with mastering on the stereo out of my project. I really appreciate your help and sharing your knowledge to newbies like me. Europe says good night.
  14. Sounds reasonable! I guess in my case and in terms of 1's and 0's, it doesn't worth the effort, since I'm doing homerecording stuff. But I've googled a little bit more about this issue and I can now think of a true benefit. If I'd export ALL of my un-mastered songs into single tracks of a separate mastering project, I would be able to better adjust the volumes and tonal differences between each song, right? Is anyone out there working this way?
