  1. are your drums grouped? and if so, do you have any of those green Qs lit up on any of your drum tracks? also, make sure "snap to absolute value" is ticked instead of "snap to relative value"
  2. seems im having a similar issue, except I can't even select the region in the first place.
  3. i recorded midi notes in.. and they showed up fine in the piano roll when i double click the region. next i record another section of notes on the same track which appear in another region, naturally, but when i click on the it, nothing shows up in the piano roll, even though i can see that notes are in the region on the arrange page. stranger still, if i merge the region of notes i can't see with the region of notes that i can see, they all disappear!! thought it sounded a little buggy so i restarted the session, but the behavior persists. what in the world is going on here?
  4. it doesn't really behave too much like the cla76 or softube, which both behave differently from each other as well. but my preference usually isn't the logic compressor.
  5. i think about mixing like this: take away what you dont need, and sweeten what you do. some high profile mixers disagree on this, but i always take the low end out of everything that doesn't need it. i usually pick the thing i want to thump, either bass or kick, and let that dominate the low end. you can get both to play nice once you're a little more seasoned, but i think if i was just starting out, that would be good advice to avoid a muddy mix.
  6. was kind of hoping the e609 would kill the room problem but i guess its still possible.
  7. core audios giving me a little grief. logic no longer catches on to the fact that i've turned on my mbox pro in the middle of a session, even though in previous versions it did that just fine, and that its available for use.. now i have to restart the thing entirely to get it to recognize. apart from that, switching sound drivers in OSX takes a few minutes after you select your new interface. i can select my mbox, wait about 1:30 then magically it switches over. nothing im too angry about, but its a little annoying.
  8. all my dirty rhythm guitar tones sound like boxy garbage. im using a deluxe strat with a pearly gates humbucker, through a Fulltone OCD pedal to a vox ac15, recorded with an original senn e609 a centimeter from the grill in various positions, through the new mbox pro3 (whose preamps are great on everything else). and even when i had a 1073 clone, i never got good tones then either. is there anything im doing wrong or am i just going to have to eq the hell out of everything? after i boost 6db at 5k, its like almost passable, but not really even close still.
  9. sub monitoring over here isn't worst case scenario, but i'd imagine not perfect. here's a short clip https://www.dropbox.com/s/agjqxse3mvoiot8/sample.wav?dl=0
  10. any tips on mixing sub bass drops and bass? like almost pure sin wave, club rattling type sounds . tending to think toward hi pass and maybe a touch of compression but not real positive.
  11. hey all, I recently bought a deluxe stratocaster in HSS configuration to replace a lee ranaldo jazzmaster that was a total b***h to play. it had a vintage narrow nut width and 7.25 radius which together, gave it a maximum bending range of 2 steps before the strings ran into each other and needed lots of hand strength to get there. it also required higher action than i prefer to keep from fretting out. i had it set up by two different luthiers to the same effect. wonderful rhythm guitar but lead was unnecessarily difficult. this new strat plays like an absolute dream! can bend 5 steps without batting an eye. however, i've never been a strat guy. in particular, "quacking" just isnt my thing. can someone recommend any top of the line bridge humbuckers and middle/neck single coils? consider output balance so that the singles don't get overpowered. also, has anyone tried those hum cancelling single coils from demarzio and seymour duncan? ive heard mixed things. i play indie rock. nothing terribly high gain, and definitely nothing bluesy. here's a few songs for reference. thanks very much!
  12. i can't get my transport to accurately display the time. Whats going on here?
  13. whenever i have a very large mix going, logic will load all plugins, then after its done, load them again. its happened since logic 9 and is still happening in logic x. i can confirm for real, because one plugin always asks for confirmation for a sample location. in small projects it asks me once. in huge ones, it takes twice as long to load and asks me twice. PLEASE FIX
  14. I've got a lot of experience with these console emulating plugins, and I can tell you, there's nothing that these things do that can't be done with .5 db of eq and some high and low rolloff. They take away a lot more than they put in.. so its kind of the lazy man's eq. They're a total waste of computer resources and can do very bad things to your tracks if you aren't very careful. I've tried them all, and none are even close to working on an actual console. If you want something fun to play with, try tape plugins. They get a lot more mileage for the money.
  15. really wish this had been hammered out before we started. its been pointed out that not doing this isn't the most professional way to go about it.
