  1. Thank you so much David and Fuzzfilth! Very helpful, exactly what I needed. Christian, I really appreciate the time and effort you took to explain all this. I can tell you put some thought into it.
  2. Hi all— I could use some help setting up a two-pop (or sync-pop) for a film scoring cue. Based on advice from another forum I found, I have created a short midi event at pitch B5 (close to 1 kHz, which I understand is the standard pitch for a two-pop), just using the EXS24 instrument. Now I need to sync it up with a 2 second lead before the cue begins, so it times at exactly 2 seconds on the countdown. Can anyone talking me through the process you'd recommend for putting in the correct SMPTE timecode and all that? Anything to avoid doing? What am I not thinking of? Length of event, volume, perhaps? Thanks!
  3. Thank you both for your replies! Very helpful.
  4. Hi, I need some (probably basic) advice. I have some audio that had a really uneven recording level between takes and sections the song (it's a vocal). I'd love to figure out a way to regulate it so that the quieter parts are boosted, basically. Is there a way to use a compressor or something so if it dips below a certain db it will automatically boost it? Thanks in advance!
  5. I just wrote to Focusrite. Thanks, David.
  6. Ah-ha! Thank you. Okay, it must be the driver. The built-in mic is working fine. Is there an update compatibility issue that anyone is aware of? What do you recommend?
  7. Hey, thank you for your reply. Here's a ten second clip of me sound checking (may want to start with volume low). https://soundcloud.com/nathan-dame-365278532/bad-frequency/s-vK9Pi
  8. I'm having a problem while recording audio. I'm using a Sennheiser e935 and Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface. There's a horrible frequency that's coming through both while recording and in playback. It's not just grounding buzz or line noise. It sounds to me like a radio/cellular frequency. It happens mostly when the mic or stand is touched, and whenever there is sound going through the mic. When the singer stops (while recording), the frequency shuts off. I've swapped XLR cables, mics, usb cables... Phones are off, computer wifi is off, our bluetooth speaker is turned off... I tried adding a noise gate - nothing is working. I can't think of what it could be. I've never had this problem before. Could you guys help me troubleshoot? Send me a few ideas of what to try? Thank you!
  9. Hi guys-- I think this is a simple one and I just don't know where I'm going wrong. I have a song with some spoken stuff interpolated throughout. Everything is midi except one audio track. I have a couple spots where I have slowed down the tempo to adjust the midi performance (by a lot - from like 100 bpm down to 65 bpm or so), and when I insert an audio region into that spot, it adjusts with the tempo change. So the audio (spoken portion) becomes stretched and digitized. Then when I move the region elsewhere, it is normal. How can I keep that audio from doing that no matter where I put it in the project tempo-wise? Thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks, I was looking at that too. Can you vouch for it? Is it glitch free? Are the transitions between articulations smooth? Barring a scripter like this, do you have a way of working you can recommend? I'm new to East West and having a hard time understanding how to do it without keyswitches.
  11. Thanks guys - I think the problem ended up being that my libraries weren't up to date. Ugh. Thanks!
  12. Hi guys-- Wondering if anyone can help me understand the best way to utilize articulations in EastWest libraries (specifically Hollywood orchestra) in Logic. It's not a program that uses keyswitches, and I can't figure out a good flow. I'd like to avoid multi-timbral overloading if possible. I bought an awesome articulation scripter called Art Conductor from babylonwaves.com, which says that it is compatible with EW. It... sort of is. With EW instruments in particular, there are a lot of glitches - sound gaps when switching between articulations. Their support tells me it has to do with how the PLAY sample loader operates. It just doesn't make those adjustments quickly enough. What do you guys do in EW Hollywood Orchestra to make quick articulation transitions? Could anyone break down their process in detail for me? Assume I know nothing. I know very little. Thanks!
  13. Are we talking plug-ins or instrument samples? It won't read the 32-bit instrument samples that I use, which is my primary problem.
  14. Actually, no I didn't. I referred to instrument libraries (samples), not plugins. And actually, I don't think the Radix page is super clear either. I looked at the Radix website (attached photo) and it seems that it converts 32-bit AUs to 64-bit AUs, when I think what it means is it converts 32-bit PLUGINS to 64-bit AUs. Not very foolproof - and I'm the fool speaking.
  15. One thing I think I've discovered - someone please help me if I'm wrong - is that Radix 32 Lives only works with plugins, NOT with instrument samples. Is that true? If so, then I've just wasted my money (and a lot of time).
