  1. Let's say I have a bunch of different sound FX libraries that have patches named "Rain" or "Thunder", and which are all listed in their respective sub-menues. Obviously, EXS-24 comes with patches that have the same name. If I select one of those custom ones in the library, EXS-24 will load the stock one instead and the library will revert to its associated path. Without giving me any option. Anyone has experienced anything similar and maybe found a fix?
  2. Thanks! I had a feeling I had seen something similar under different circumstances, but being that I almost never work with loops, it didn't register. As I'm completing the Advanced certification book for version 9 while learning the ins and out of X and Pro Tools 11, I guess the info was classified as low priority by my brain. :/ Thanks again.
  3. I've recently noticed that upon importing certain bounced files into a project, there were those two little triangles on top of one another, in the region header, just before the region name - almost as if there should be a pop up menu there... http://i.imgur.com/oeH6yeQ.png I couldn't figure out under what conditions, but last night, those showed up on 4 files out of 4 that I'd just bounced to disk and re-imported in the project. What does it mean? Oh and speaking of bouncing... Is it normal that when bouncing in place, the mixer channel isn't updated to reflect the newly created track name, and will display something like Audio 32 instead of Kick bip or such? Thanks in advance!
  4. Recording into a new project, using the internal HD - all back to normal. Thanks!
  5. I'll verify today and get back to you with an answer. Oddly enough, one thing I did notice is that there's a slight delay between the moment I press stop and the time Logic stops recording - nothing dramatic, but it certainly takes longer than, say, engaging playback.
  6. I seem to be missing the end of recordings quite regularly. Since I am recording myself, there is obviously a delay between the moment I hit the last note on the guitar and the moment my hand reaches the keyboard to stop playback. In the image below, the decay of the last chord has been chopped off. (for whatever reason, the image is cropped, but you can still see that the object extends way past the last note). http://i.imgur.com/nkq87Wz.png I have not yet determined just how long I have to let it roll in order to capture the full performance - it's a bit strange, and quite frustrating at times when you inadvertently press stop a fraction of a second too early, even though technically the whole performance has been recorded and then some. Anyone experienced anything like that? Am I missing something?
  7. Most complete, flexible and easiest to use, as far as I'm concerned. As a composer, songwriter, it's simply the best tool I can think of, especially with its integrated sampler. As a matter of fact, Logic has the best set of instruments and plug-ins of any DAW I've worked with. I use them practically exclusively - though I have added my own custom sample libraries. The tight integration w/ the OS is also one of the non-negligible advantages. Version 9 outperformed everything I've worked with - except maybe Studio One, which performed as well, but was far from a match, feature-wise. I also use Pro Tools. But as a composition tool, Logic rules them all.
  8. I found an old thread about missing features but it was 17 pages long and I just didn't have the heart to read through that, and likewise, a quick search and I got 175 pages of potential hits... Logic 9's saved project icons displayed as an overview of the project - which was incredibly useful to me. Has this feature been removed? Hard for me to conceive that they actually removed things like that and color palette customization...
  9. Good to know it isn't just a glitch in this project. I'll avoid moving that locator. Thanks, Eric.
  10. Odd fix... The left locator for the song was at measure 7. Project itself started at measure 9. I thought I'd move the locator back to measure 1. Bingo, I can now resize the beginning of the region. I still have no idea why it works and why Logic exhibited such a behaviour in the first place.
  11. Hi Eric, I managed to retrieve the missing EXS instruments and samples from my old MacBook last night. In the light of mentismus' post, I'm guessing that that stuff was installed when I installed Logic Express 9 form the DVD, way back in 2011. These are the instruments I was talking about - all the stuff that's under Legacy Instruments. http://i.imgur.com/MCd9FEZ.png
  12. Actually, I thought it looked like OSX and Apple software as they were depicted in numerous South Park episodes... I'll let you judge whether or not it's a good thing. Personally, I think they might as well have hired the people who designed Windows 8... Only makes it a lot easier to stick to my decision NOT to upgrade OS on my new Mac - though I didn't like Mavericks too much, it's running just fine on this new machine.
  13. Same issue - installed Logic on my new iMac and now I have a bunch of projects which won't playback properly because the Legacy EXS instruments won't show up - by Legacy, I mean the stuff that was already labeled Legacy back in Logic 9. Tried launching Logic 9 and seeing if there was an option to download the missing content there but it tells me that everything is installed. A darn shame because I used that stuff all the time.
