my apologies for the missing information. The computer i am using is the new imac i7 therefore only one FW port so i may not have an option but to slow down fw port to 400 from 800. It would still be better than using usb as a drive for samples. My other option is to use a usb based audio interface but the apogee sounds great so would like to see how i can make this whole thing work...

Hi Folks Let me know if this scenario is possible. I am planning on get the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro enclosure and installing 2 - 1Tb drive and connect it to my imac via the FW800 port. This scenario should work as expected. Now what if i add the apogee duet to the FW 400 on the Mercury elite enclosure. Will this work or has anyone tried this here ?? pls let me know...thx

i read somewhere that Logic is able to use all 8 cores in the imac. May have read it on this forum..

How much faster is the new imac i7 when compared to Mac Pro 8-core 3.0GHz Intel Xeon ?

Thx a lot guys. I think i am going to move ahead with the firebox mobile. I may ask a buddy of mine to bring his DUET and will try to setup with the system and see how it turns out anyways...

I was going to use the Lacie to connect to the imac and then connect the DUET to lacie. It has 2 firewire ports. One 800 and one 400 so technically it would work. Hope this is what you were referring to

Hi I recently ordered the i7 imac. Should be here in a few days. I have also purchased a Lacie d2 drive, which has the FW 800/400 to daisy chain whichever sound card i get. I am looking at the following 2 options: 1) Apogee Duet - Only concern i have is the unbalanced to balanced connection to my yorkville monitors. What sort of issues can i expect from this setup or will it just work fine if i plug in the TRS to XLR - unbalanced from Duet to balanced -> monitors. 2) Firestudio mobile - It has the proper connections but i am not sure if the sound quality will be as good as what i will get with Duet. Anyone have any experience with the above scenarios? If so please let me know. I would prefer DUET but if thats a risk to the setup then Mobile may be the other option. Thanks

i have the book and i will go ahead and say its the best logic book i have ever read. The flow of the content is excellent and the information provided made me feel like i did not know much about Logic lol... great buy

Hi i am planning to get the Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 9MS NCQ Quiet RoHS Hard Drive - Is this going to be good for G5.. i know a lot of people prefer lacie but i dont really want to spend that kind of money. any suggestions...

these tutorials are very good...i am new to logic and it has helped me in a great way ... atleast saved me good few months

David I installed OSX Tiger and then did the remote sl install...works perfectly now...no issues...automap is working as well... thx a lot for all your help new issue... my M-audio firewire does not show up in the Audio configs and its defaulted to Built in audio. I am going to check the M-audio site to see if they have new drivers if not i will try and install the cd i have again. thx

Hi David, I have reinstalled those drivers atleast 5 times at this point, and i never see the icon in the control setup. That is the main problem, i can however play my SL on instruments but the Automap function is not working. My Tiger update has arrived and sitting at home. What i am going to do is - delete all the drivers and reference to Remote, install tiger - then do a fresh install of Remote SL - then repair the permissions. If this does not fix the issue, i will get some screenshots and post them here so you have a visual. Thx for all your help...i really like the keyboard but if by the weekend its not resolved it will most likely go back.

Hi thx a lot...here is what i have checked so far. The Remote SL bundle does reside in the Lib - prefer - Midi folder. also when i go in the Preference- Control surface - i do not see a icon for Remote, all is the computer icon - i use the SCAN ALL option - that does not detect the Remote either As i am pretty new to the mac envirnment, do i need to download the Disk repair utility from the Apple site to do this or is this any other way. when i launch logic - i see 2 different pop up 1) Indicates - launching remote then immediately another 2)Alert pops up - "cannor laod module remote sl"

Thx for the reply, i did install the drivers the latest ones - "ReMOTE SL Installer v5 (Mac OSX) Contains Reason/Cubasev2/Logicv2/Nuendo/Ableton Automap". I also try to install it a few times but no luck...get that same alert when i launch logic. Novation does not indicate if i need 10.4 or higher as my OS, currently i am running 10.3.5
