  1. Just as a follow-up. Looking at the screenshot here, all these controls are pre-programmed; is it possible to see if they are assigned to certain CCs already? I know that Dynamics and vibrato are mapped to CC1 and CC2, but if would be useful to know if, for example, con sord is also already assigned to a CC so I don't need to change anything.
  2. Many thanks for your help. Actually what sorted it was enabling control surfaces in preferences, then it worked straight away.
  3. Screenshot attached. As a test, I've mapped the mic mix distance control to the second knob but then how would I go about assigning that externally? The External Assignment 'Learn' button is greyed out, so not sure how you do this.
  4. I'm trying to get to grips with how Smart Controls functions in Logic Pro X (10.4.8). I would like to control CCs with an external midi controller and I'm struggling to get it working. I am able to use Parameter Mapping to Learn to control the desired parameter using the knobs in Smart Controls, but if I want to use External Assignment to 'Learn', that button is usually greyed out. With some of the control knobs, it lit up red so I could map it to my Komplete Kontrol, but with others it just stayed grey. Now that I'm typing, it's remaining grey for all of them, so I'm not even sure how it worked at all. Ultimately I want to be able to use this with TouchOSC, but I can't get that to do anything at all, so I'm trying with the Komplete Kontrol first. I really just want to be able to control Expression, Dynamics, Vibrato at the same time in orchestral samples - I currently just use the mod wheel. I'm using the Spitfire Solo Strings Violin 1st Desk Long Flautando as my test subject FYI.
  5. I'm working with a long movie file and trying to move the start point of a piece of music that has mulitple tempo changes to later in the film. When I select the regions and the tempo events and drag them along, the movie (along with the SMPTE start point) also moves. I just want to keep the movie where it is whilst I move the midi information. I can obviously drag the regions on their own, but I need the tempo information to move as well. When I right click on the Tempo events in the List on the right, it shows an option to lock/unlock SMPTE position, but it's greyed out. Anyone know how I can do this?
  6. Slightly off-track, but still concerning Logic and 003 working together. I am having problems with my midi keyboard not being recognised in Logic. I can see the MIDI IN light flashing on the 003 when I press a key, but the message isn't transferred into Logic. The only way round this problem that I can find is to close Logic completely and open up Pro Tools, then quit and reopen Logic and then it works. This is effective, but time-consuming and although it was happening with Logic 8, it seems to be happening more frequently in Logic 9, so I am having to routinely open and quit Pro Tools first before Logic. Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks for your replies. I have installed Logic 9 and it seems to be working ok at the moment (touch wood). I am intending to buy an Apogee Ensemble to replace the 003 at some point, but it's a big expense.
  8. I am currently using a Digidesign 003 with Logic 8, but I am thinking of installing Logic 9. Before I do so, I need to know definitively that the latest Dididesign Core Audio drivers will work with Logic 9. I have Pro Tools 8.0.5, so I think this includes the latest drivers. Can anyone confirm that this set-up works?
