  1. Hi David, It is for monitoring various samples, via midi knob. Right now, I'll create a drum track on the exs, separate by pitch, duplicate the exs track and copy the regions over to the corresponding tracks. Then, put a bunch of kicks, snares, etc... on each exs track and select shift+option on my piano roll to scroll through all the sounds until I find what I like. Probably not the best way of doing things but it works for me. I would like to utilize my midi controller w/ my workflow more than I do now.
  2. Thanks for the response. I assigned the corresponding ctrl to the source on the EXS and loaded up a bunch of samples. Nothing is happening yet. I'll keep trying and searching. Thanks again.
  3. I couldn't find my answer online so I had to ask. I wanted to know if it's possible to run through different sounds on one midi note via midi knob in EXS . Also, after laying down a drum track on exs and separating notes by pitch, is it possible to separate those tracks so they are their own EXS track? Ultimately, I want to know if it's possible to do the Ableton "128" technique in Logic. If not, cool. Just curious. Thanks!
  4. It depends what you would like to control with it. It's triggering your sounds, right? For the most part, it is pretty much plug n play when I copped mine. If you would like to use your sliders to control the levels on your mixer, there is some great tutorials on youtube on how to do it. You just have to see what helps with your workflow from using it. The main thing I suggest is to save your template in logic, once you get everything to sync up with your Axiom. It will save a lot of time.
  5. Ahhhh that's so weak. I hope they fix it. Well, thanks for all your help. I appreciate it.
  6. By dragging the blue region marker to where I want to start and stop the sample. Apologies for not clarifying that detail.
  7. I drag in the AIFF from my browser, slice up my sample on the main page, and convert to sample to a new sampler track. When editing the sample, I usually click on the sample in the exs and open in sample editor. From there, I adjust the sample in there. It works when I adjust the sample on the EXS with the start and end numbers. However, the numbers don't change when I adjust it in the sample editor. Any thoughts on why it doesn't work in the sample editor? Thank you, sir!
  8. I haven't used the 2k but I assume it's similar to the other MP's. What level is your internal volume set at in the MPC? Even when you turn your volume knob down, it still clips?
  9. Sorry about that. Fixed it. Yeah, exactly. When I slice AIFF files in the EXS, and try to adjust the region start/stop, they play the original sample without any changes. Thanks, David.
  10. Does anyone have trouble editing Aiff files in the sample editor? When I change the regions, it doesn't alter the start and stop points I set them at. Not a biggie because a majority of the samples I work with are .wav. However, it would be nice to know if there is a setting I could change so this doesn't occur. Thanks!
  11. I wasn't very fond of UB for a long time but for the last 2 weeks, I started messing with it and have more appreciation for it. It can be good for beefing up your drums by synthesizing your own kicks, snares, etc.. and layering them over your samples. In addition, it's good for getting out your ideas real fast because of the sequence editor. You can always nudge and replace the drums, if need be. Also, you have a separate amp envelope for each sample, which the EXS lacks. EXS is really powerful for melodic samples. Coming from a MPC 4000 and making keygroups in there for years, the EXS definitely kills it with that. However, I use battery for drums because I like the option of having a separate envelope for each sample and the MPC emulation. Sorry if I got off topic or repeated the same response but that's just my .02
