  1. I think that's starting to make sense now. So basically I'd break it down like this; Zones = Controllers, like my Akai MPD232, and Korg Micro control Modes = Different configurations for those controllers. Right?
  2. Awesome! I'll give it another shot then. One more thing I'm having trouble with is Zones and Modes. I was under the impression that a zone had to be selected for it to be activated. However last night I created a new zone, set some of my faders to control certain tracks, but then when I unselected the zone (ie went to (No Zone)), that new zone became activated in the Controller Assignments window, and the faders started controlling the tracks again. What I'd like is for me to have to select which zone I want, then have those controllers work the way they're assigned. Or am I not understanding zones & modes properly? Thanks again!
  3. Hi there, After reading through this I think it's close but not quite what I'm looking for. IIRC Dave had posted a set of directions at one point on how to use a standard (with knobs and faders) midi controller, as a control surface. These instructions involved going into the control surface editor window and making adjustments there. It involved something with a generic control surface I believe. I have an Akai MPD232 which has 8 knobs, faders and switches that can all be changed by a control bank switch (A, B, C). So naturally I'd like to set this so that the faders work volume, the knobs are pan, and the switches are track solo. Hope this all makes sense?
  4. Hi everyone! I'm pretty sure it was this forum that I read about how to setup a control surface from a standard midi controller in Logic 9. I remember at the time, the person wrote pretty detailed instructions on how to do this. It was basically a way of turning a midi controller to a control surface by using the Setup dialogue. Found by Logic Pro> Preferences> Control Surfaces> Setup. I've done a bit of search on the LPH forum but I'm coming up no dice. What I have to work with is an Akai MPD232. It has an array of eight faders, switches and knobs, across three control banks so naturally I'd love it to work as a surface. Any direction to that post or help accomplishing this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  5. Hi Gang, So just lately I've been noticing that as I work on a track, a fader will randomly drop to around -68. This is on new tracks, and there's no automation of any kind. It's also just started happening recently, as of last week. I've checked to see if it has anything to with plugins, but it seems to happen with just random tracks. It also tends to happen when I'm playing a track as well. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Really annoying. Btw, I'm on Logic 9.1.8 if it matters much. Thank you!
  6. I think what I need is something to have logic recognize that there are two separate MIDI output ports. Is this something I can do with the Audio/Midi setup in utilities?
  7. I did actually. That was the problem that I had to mess around with in the first place.
  8. Hi Gang, I'll try my best to describe this in detail. I have two MOTU 828 MK2's that are daisy-chained by firewire. I also have two external midi devices that are connected to each of the interfaces. The first device is an external synth that takes control off the main (#1) interface. The second is a filter that takes its signal off the second (#2) interface. So in other words, the outputs of both devices are utilized to control their respective devices. As it is now, whenever I play midi control from logic, it sends midi data out of the second interface. I've tried numerous things to segregate the midi outputs, but I'm really not sure how why I can't get this to work. It's as if it's not sending data to the first device anymore at all. It's worth noting that I had to mess around a bit this morning to get the second device to pick up midi. Before this morning I was able to use my midi controller through logic to control my first device (the synth).Additionally, I believe I used to be able to see all of my midi outputing channels from BOTH devices(2x16 = 32), but now I can only see one set of channels. Both devices are selectable as midi ports in Logic, just the one set of channels though. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  9. Ahh! Makes sense. Thanks again for the reply. I was trying to get the presets from another thread to load. I guess I'll just have to go the manual way then! Thanks!
  10. It works! Thanks again everyone! BTW, has anyone had the Arturia Prophet presets rash their session or is it just me? Like everytime I load one from the preset viewer it goes to hell. Thoughts?
  11. Ahh man you beat me to it! I'm honestly having a bit of trouble getting most of them to load, so I'll keep you posted about this. Thank you!!
  12. Thanks for the reply GDoubleYou! So if I look under my "About this Mac", it's a 2.66 ghz quad core Intel Xenon. Is that what you were asking about? Additionally, I'm running OS 10.6.8 fwiw. I changed the presets around a bit from my users presets library, to the root preset library. Does that matter at all?
  13. Hi Everyone, So I spent a bit of time loading up the the presets found on the http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15267. The Plugins that I downloaded that worked were the Arturia CS80 and the Korg M1. However the rest of them that I downloaded either didn't take, or actually crashed logic. Below is a list of which. Native Instruments - Massive (Version 1.3.1): Recognizes the plugins, and I can select them with my mouse from the preset pulldown, however my keyboard shortcut for next preset doesn't actually take. - FM8(Version 1.2.1) : Same thing as Massive *** Both from Komplete 7 Arturia -Jupiter 8 (Version 2.5.5: The presets are there and they're displayed but they're actually not loading when selected. -Prohphet (Version 2.5.3): Presets are displayed in their respective libraries, but anytime they're selected they crash logic. This one is really bugging me as it's a plugin I'm really fond of. I tried changing them from my users plugin preset directory to my main one and they're still crashing Logic. Is there anyway that I can get these to work? I'm really hoping to clear this up as I don't think it should be such a challenge. Any help is greatly appreciated! If I can get these to work themselves out, I'll start doing up the presets for the miniMoog.
  14. Hi Everyone! Two things: 1) Can anyone help me figure out why the presets for Arturia Prophet crash Logic when they're loaded 2) I will be doing up the presets for the Arturia minimoog this weekend. Does anyone want to work on them with me and meet half way? Love the work so far, so I figured I'd just do my part!
