  1. Hi All, I have a load of projects saved in Logic 9 that I want to finish. First of all, I don't want to use Logic 10. A load of plugins from the projects do not work with it, I already use other DAWs, and many other reasons. What I would like to do is partition my hard drive so I have one partition for more up to date OS' to use for everything BUT Logic 9, and have a partition JUST to finish Logic 9 projects on. Can anyone advise on how I can achieve this whilst using up as little space on the Logic 9 partition as possible? E.g. what files need to be on the Logic 9 partition? I'm assuming that audio files, etc. on the current, only partition, will not need to transferred as finder/spotlight should be able to locate them, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm aware of multioutput, but this doesn't always provide enough outs, etc. Though, all good suggestions welcome, and if there's an innovative way to use MO drum kits, I'm all ears.
  3. Hey, In short: Is there a way to select all of the events from a noteline from a track without gluing all sections together first? Is there any quick/good ways to EQ individual notelines from drumkits for mixdown purposes? Or any other good time saving ways to achieve what I want? I've got loads of old stuff that I made when I didn't know anything about proper EQ, mixdowns, etc. I like the principles and structure, but it's muddy as hell. I want to see if there's a quicker way to separate notes/copy and paste in drum group patterns (drum kits), so they can be put on to separate tracks. In previous cases I've glued them all together, and then clicked the note line, selecting all the notes throughout the song, and then copied to a new section throughout the track. However, this then means that you can't see where certain bits come in and out, as you're left with a huge section. Is there a way to select all of the events from a noteline from a track without gluing all sections together first? Or any other good time saving ways to achieve what I want?
  4. Hey, I was just going through some ensembles from the reaktor library. One of them, despite having a compressor in the effects chain, SUDDENLY after switching a setting started BLASTING noise out of my monitors. I quickly turned them off and they sound normal/ok now, but, how do I tell if they've been damaged or not?
  5. Ok. I've ended up going with the RAT 5, because there doesn't seem to be anything else, and, from contacting multiple tech suppliers, this is what they kept recommending. I've got it covered by a warranty, should a problem occur, and, I got it through a reputable electronics supplier, so, if the stories are true, I can avoid the mad catz/cyborg bad return policies by going through them. It was highlighted to me that though there are some bad reviews, there are also a few good ones, and, that, from a few suppliers, they've sold X amount, and only had a small Y amount returned, etc. Also, it has also been highlighted that a lot of gamers (as it's a gaming mouse), get very angry mid battle, if they've been taken down or something, and slam their mice on the table (which could be a reason for some of the faults). So far, it works nice. Got the buttons to work for f9/10/11/12 and thumb scroll works fine. No tracking issues or anything yet. The ONLY thing at the moment is that it's quite a bit bigger than a lot of mice, and, I can use it no problem, it fits my hand, BUT, I have to use it further from me on my desk or my wrist starts to hurt. I'm sure some ergonomic adjustments and/or a wrist wrest can resolve this. Anyway, I INTEND to report back over the months, especially if there're any problems. If anyone's interested in how it's going and I haven't reported back then just post a reminder here.
  6. Terminally gunked is perfect terminology. Exactly what happened to me. Ok, yeah, I think I've seen that mouse. It's a possible option, but, still, 2 scrolls would be preferable. When you say " and choose how many "lines" of resolution you want in the scroll." do you mean that you can/could use the buttons to change how fast/slow/much-resolution pushing the mouse from side to side does?
  7. Hey, If there's anyone experienced with JACK audio, and possibly bitwig too, then I'd appreciate your advice/help. I bought bigwig to go alongside logic (9 in my case, I'm yet to upgrade), for audio manipulation, and other reasons (no DAW does it all, but I'm happy with logic for a lot of reasons, it's been my prime DAW for years, and, for now I want to keep it in my setup). On the bitwig site and prior to launch, the bitwig company said that there wouldn't be rewire, but, there would be JACK, which does what you need. I just downloaded JACK and can't figure out how to route bitwig and logic together. I could get audio coming from bitwig to logic, but, the tempo didn't match up, loop didn't match up, when I pressed play in logic it does nothing in bitwig, and it seemed to come out of all of the audio channels I'd setup in logic. There are literally only a small few videos on youtube on how to work with jack, and I haven't been able to find a video on how to setup jack with bitwig at all. I want to set things up so I can send bitwig/logic/renoise into bitwig/logic/renoise, with the slave/master varying depending on the project. I want the play positions to match up, the tempo to match up, cycle/loop to match up. Basically, I just want to do what takes seconds with rewire. I want to do what rewire does. Is this possible? If so, then how do I do this? (if someone provides an example of logic into bitwig and bitwig into logic, then, that should be enough for me to work out the rest for renoise). Can someone provide information/tutorial/guidance please? Once I've set it up, do I have to do it every time I want to use bitwig in my setup? Or can I save some settings so I can just load connections up quickly? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers guys
  8. I had a bamboo pad, but, my wrist/hand ended up hurting. I much prefer a mouse, and just want something that can scroll left to right. If there are any engineers here, maybe you could build a simple WIRED mouse with a thumb and normal finger scroll to sell to the audio + visual market? I do not understand why they don't widely exist. A tad off topic, but I feel the need to vent re wireless stuff: in a world where we are running out of resources and energy is becoming a huge political issue, why the f&^k (can't remember whether cursing is allowed on here) are we using wireless everything when it's just not necessary. For christ sake, if your computer is 3 feet away from you, a cable can go that far, and you don't have to use batteries/lithium (that will eventually run out) to power it. For across the room remotes I get it, and there are obviously other things that are better wireless, but, generally, this "everything wireless" thing is f&^king stupid. Unnecessary, inconvenient convenience.
  9. Hello, For DAW use in general, doest anyone know of a good reliable WIRED mouse with a thumb scroll wheel? I used to have a mighty mouse, and loved up+down + left+right scrolling, but, anyone who's used one will know that the scroll wheel gets gunkd up and stops working every now and then, and eventually stops working altogether. To me it's such an improvement to work flow. So, I just want a WIRED mouse with a thumb scroll and a normal scroll, or, I think I might have seen some wireless ones with a kind of trackpad in place of the scroll wheel which fulfils the same purpose. Anything that works well and is wired. EDIT: the r.a.t mice have them, but there are a lot of reviews about how they stop working/break quickly and when you're paying that kinda money for a mouse, you want it to last (one I've got has lasted years, just no side to side scrolling). Cheers guys.
  10. Thanks for the response. I haven't tried this yet. Busy with some other stuff. I'm just looking for the easiest way to do it. I'll post back with my results.
  11. Hello, Does anyone know how to do this (or something similar): (switch between samples being played on one note with automation or midi) in Logic 9, Battery 3 (if it does it in battery 4 then I may have to look at an upgrade), Kontakt or Renoise? Obviously this is a logic forum, so, Logic primarily, but, just asking about others incase anyone knows.
  12. I don't think it's to do with the qunexus as it's receiving data to light LEDs from other applications. Thanks for the thought though
  13. Hey. I recently got a Qunexus and have been trying to figure out how to get logic (9, not X) to send data out to the qunexus so the leds work in conjunction with logic like a step sequencer, like with maschine or push. How do I go about getting it to do this? Cheers guys.
  14. Thank you for the suggestions but I mean compare the contents/data of the song. Like word compares documents and shows the differences between them, here: http://tutorialstree.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/4.jpg
