  1. Hey y'all Basic question, I was planning to buy a pair of M AUDIO STUDIOPHILE AV40 speakers http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MAudioAV40.html. Can anyone advise if I would need some sort of audio interface/amplifier. I had hoped I could simply connect my 2011 MBP to them via a 3.5mm jack to RCA, from my Macbook's audio out/headphone socket. I plan to use the setup for some simple Logic work including mixing, as well as general iTunes listening. Thanks
  2. Many thanks, I want to do 2 things, both of them driven by my MBP: 1. Mix music in logic pro, im not professional, it is just a hobby 2. Listen to my music library via iTunes I'd much prefer not to have to plug in a cable every time I want to do either of these, ideally there is a simple wireless solution. Many thanks
  3. Hey y'all i was hoping you can help me figure out a decent wireless speaker setup, on a serious budget. I was considering the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 speakers (http://www.amazon.co.uk/M-Audio-Studiophile-Speakers-Professional-Creation/dp/B005625CNM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375735318&sr=8-2&keywords=monitor+speakers). Is there any simple way yo make them wireless, so I can work off my laptop and not need to have to connect a wire across my room. I was hoping maybe the Apple Airport Extreme might facilitate this but I am not sure. Id rather not splash out on an Airplay enabled amplifier/receiver as these cost £300-400 and are a bit redundant given the said speakers are self powered. Thanks
  4. @Dave @EricBradley thanks for your advice. I really appreciate the honest and direct feedback. Dave i recognise you. I used to have an account on here a few years ago, and was more of a silent observer, as i tried to dabble in logic pro; but even my occasional messages were usually responded to by yourself. So thanks again. @iMacCartney I am super happy with my Shure SRH 840s. They look a but stupid on my head, but I sold a pair of Bose QC3s and bought these following strong advice from audiofile friends of mine. At half the price, I get a lot better audio quality.
  5. Hey guys, I would appreciate some advice. My setup: Macbook Pro 15'' 2011, Shure SRH 840s My requirements: To mix music in Logic pro, using only my Shure headphones My budget: £150 max; ideally £100 My Question: Are dedicated (USB/FW) DACs better than (USB/FW) Audio interfaces for my requirements? _____________________________________- So although I currently only mix, I may in the future like to have the flexibility to record some tracks. If both dedicated DACs and Audio Interfaces provide the same quality of audio output then there is no reason for me not to take advantage of the Audio Interface's additional features (i.e. its ability to act as audio input). As a comparison example; would the audio quality from the FOCUSRITE SCARLETT 2I2 be better than the FiiO E9i?
