  1. tnx for the reply so are you saying that i dont need to create an external midi track to play things in logic with my midi keyboard ? i want to play an audio sample via the midi keyboard, how do i do this and what sort of track do i use
  2. tnx for the reply good to speak to someone that has one, yeah its a microkorg. so you don't need to plug in the audio outputs into your interface. or you should not ? say i have a sample in logic, audio. I import it into an audio track, scrap that actually, say i import the audio sample into the logic sampler so this is "software track" how do i play the sample with the microkorg ?
  3. After watching coutless torturials going on many forums i gave up. I came to the conclusion via a forum the microkorg xl can not do what i wanted it to do, it can only do one or the other not both at the same time, i think i need a worksation for that. Still cant get the keyboard to work how i want forget doing both at same time, one or the other will do. The turning "local" off was something i definately needed to do but didnt solve the fact my audio from the keyboard comes as audio not midi.
  4. i have a keyboard (microkorg xl) i want to use as a midi controller. I want it to control my audio samples and my software program. In logic you have audio tracks, external midi and software tracks. To import audio sample i use an audio track, to use the software i use software instrument track. So how do i use my keyboard to control either as i thought the keyboard being midi should go on extranal midi track. Thats my confusion. which track to use and how, im guessing you may use 2 tracks i dont know...
  5. 1st i need to know if i have logic8 and microkorg xl set correctly Or where i have gone wrong. My goal is to have tracks playing microkorg sounds recordable with midi and on other tracks playing various vsts and audio via the keyboard how do i go about this ? At the moment i seem to be able to play sounds from the microkorg by clicking any "i" on any track. but cant get it to play anything else in logic. although i can hear korgs sounds i think i have set it up incorrectly, i notice it says no in no out on the bottom info strip on logic but all seems else seems fine.. is it set up correctly ? another question i have on the microkorg xl to do what i want i believe local setting has to be off for playing other software and on for playing its own sounds but my problem is i cant seem to get both on separate channels, its either off or on when assigned to different midi channels. if anyone uses this equipment or can help/advise would be much appreciated. tnx, Age.
  6. hhmm could be this local off switch, sorry im new to all this i thought it would be quite a simple diagnosis. Im uisng a korgmicro keyboard. Logic 8. Native instr Massive. Apoge duet interface, macbook pro & speakers. I have audio cables from keyboard in to the interface and same cables from interface out to speakers. I have a midi to usb cable connecting my laptop to the keyboard. tnx, Adrian.
  7. tnx for reply. yeah ive connected midi from keyboard to laptop and audio from keyboard into the audio interface all seems correct but havent set up anything further in logic, maybe a setting in logic ? to play keyboard i was creating external midi trk as its a external midi instr, then an audio one below it as thats what i read somewhere, i can play the keyboard ok but it comes into logic as audio files not on piano roll. infact any track i click on and press the I button i hear the keyboard, i want to hear what ever i have on that track, be it audio sample massive or logic inst. i have tried what you said but always seems to get the keyboard sound as opposed to say the logic sound, i created a software inst , imported a logic instr but from what i can see my keyboard still plays its own sound But with all the effects that come with the logic sound if that makes sense?
  8. Hi, i have recently set up a korgmicro with logic 8 but cant seem to play any other sounds besides the keyboard sounds via the keyboard. have i set it up correct ? i would like to play logic software insts and sounds from prog massive via the keyboard but cant seem to. basically i want the piano roll in logic to represent the korg keyboard. at present all sounds i play via the keyboard are recorded into logic as audio files is this normal / correct ? how do i record the keyboad sounds as an instrument ? i.e have what i have recorded as notes on a piano roll not a audio file. maybe a setting ive missed ? any help would be much appreciated. tnx in advance.
  9. Hi, tnx for your replys, no to the 1st answer, 2nd answer thats not actually the problem but sounds like a problem ill be encountering soon! So tnx for that info. Anyhow i now have audio, i had a think, went through things again and i may have had something the wrong way round ? anyhow im happy i can use this keyboard for the 1st time. Now the 2nd part to my question, how do i control another track with the korg keyboard ?.. so in this instance i dont want to use any korg sounds i just want to play i.e a logic synth but via the keyboard, not by writing the notes in the piano eitor page which is what i do until now.. ... i would like to do this with all my instruments / tracks i guess it would be the same process for all but all ive learnt so far is just to have the keyboard as an instrument..
  10. Hi, just need some basic help / guide to setting up a korg micro keyboard with logic 8: i plugged midi cable from korg to mac via midi - usb cable. I got audio running out the korg into my interface. how do i make a track where i can hear my keyboard ? i tried follwing some instructions i found on the net but didnt get any audio from my keyboard coming through i want to use the keyboard to make tracks and play the other sounds on the other tracks. i opened a new track as external midi track, highlighted what i think must be the keyboard, bit confusing as i think its been named by name of the midi cable ? does this sound right ? well theres nothing korg there just emu x1 which is the midi cable so i guess thats it and its reading it ok ? so i put that on the track, then open a audio track below it which is what the instructions said, the input i cant really see to change so left it on stereo , 1& 2 , i was now expecting to be able to play the keyboard on that audio track but nothing, no sign of it. where have i gone wrong, how do i set it up to get what i want ? plse help , tnx Age.
