  1. This will come in handy when I get my stuff set up!
  2. No wonder I was confused LOL....so really im back to my audio interface if its not someting supported by USB
  3. Well not that you asked about the iMac LOL.....I was going to go with the basic here with the new 21.5 iMac . Out the boc will this handle Logic pro w/o upgrading to anything else? I may down the road do the 16gb ram but with the 8gb and nothing else can logiv handle it and some other sounds I may add to it?
  4. See sig LOL...I think I got what I need so I wont be a bother...until i get it set up Wish I was in LA for the classes though. thank you again!
  5. Ok this seems a bit easier to deal with..but how do you go direct to the mac when they have no line input jack just usb ports? RCA to usb cable if there is such a thing? Also I was looking more into those interfaces and I do not know why I keep coming back to the Akai EIE Pro. I hear (or see) good and bad about it...I just want to make sure that when I get the interface I have enough to deal with (monitors, mixer, keyboard) Thank you for taking the time and sorry to be a bother but this will be a new toy for me and I want to know all before I plunk down good money
  6. ARRGHH so are you saying even though I have the turntables going to the mixer, I now got to plug my mixer into that "preamp" I thought I can connect my turntable into my mixer and then the mixer into the interface....no? SH%$ what good YouTube video is there that shows someone how to connect things for logic pro?
  7. Ok call me dumb but again im coming from a old Akai s950 world to the computer world so all this "extra gear" has me a bit confused. Looking at not getting an interface yet BUT if and when I do what do you guys think of the Akai Professional EIE Pro? As far as set up goes I guess my mic would go in the front but on the back I will have to get an adapter to run my RCA jacks (which is coming from my DJ mixer Gemini PMX 15A OR I could use my Pyramid PM4001) and then plug that into one or two of the inputs in teh back? Then my midi keyboard (speaking about that is a old midi keyboard ol for triggering samples or should I use a usb keyboard? Was looking at the Akai Professional MPK Mini or the bigger one) So to break it down. is the Akai EIE Pro ok? How would I connect an old mixer to it with RCA jacks Is my old midi keyboard ok? Should I go with an usb keyboard controller liek the Akai MPK mini or the full Thank you all for helping a newbie build up
  8. LOL ok one more thing...since the mixer is RCA jacks then how will that go into a usb hub on the iMac? RCA to usb? What cord will I need to run that mixer (which has rca ports) to my iMac
  9. Ok so the need for a audio interface as a seperate device will not be needed until I had a mike...No mike means then plug the mixer (which will have the turntable plugged in) direct into the iMac itself and then headphones. Once I get used to working with Logic then move on to a interface. Am I asuming this correct? I already know how to "make beats" its just the software (and really the mac) that will be all new to me. Seeing videos on Youtube and such has my creative juices flowing again and just want it all NOW but as you guys are the pros maybe holding off on the interface until I know what I am doing is best. And to just assume the iMac has 4 ports on it? So after the mixer and headphones could I still get monitors direct to the imac OR that is what the audio interface is for. Also if I go through the iMac to plug all this in how will this affect the sound quality. Lets say if I want to mix or master stuff to sound good enough to post and send off for remix contest etc. Also im at work now so the mixer is a Scratch Master by Gemini and a old old Pyramid mixer with EQ.
  10. Thank you....seems to be about $549 and maybe more then what I need right now. anything you can suggest closer to my price range? Also reading up more seems I will have to use the turntable trough my DJ mixer and then the mixer to the interface right?
  11. Ok let me give you a bit of background on me and see if you logic pros can help a old school producer. Started making beats in the early 90's with my only equipment I ever used and still have to this day. Akai S950, Alesis MMT8 sequencer and a standard midi keyboard to trigger samples. That is it. Went to a friends house who was using logic pro and I was hooked. So in the next month or so I will buy my first iMac ( I am a total windows guy s Apple is like Chinese to me) and I also want to know what will be the BEST audio interface I should get for what I plan on doing. I plan on doing remixes and beats. I want to take accapellas and created remixes to them. All I have now is my 2 1200 turntables and a mixer. I have no studio monitors but will soon down the road. What would be the best audio interface to start with so I can connect my turntables, mixer, mike (when i get it) and studio monitors (when I get it). Looking for no less then $250 if possible. Also what else do you think I may need for my work that I will do and of course down the road upgrade if I have to. respeck!
