  1. Hey there guys! I've got a mix that I'd like to have the sampler instruments I create to be just for that mix and not thrown in with all of Logic's other sampler instruments. Never really used the EXS24 until now, or this way, but wanted to know if this was possible? What I was going to try was just making a folder in the project's actual folder, and then save the sampler instrument I make just for the project there so it's just for that project alone. Curious if this is a good way? Is there a better option to stay organized in this manner? Thanks again!
  2. *edit: Now running from the Fatso Jr. via Line level because I caught wind (From Focusrite) that in doing so will bypass the Mic Pre's of the Pro 40. Just thought i'd share.
  3. So I accidentally found out the (partial) solution to this: In "Audio MIDI Set-Up" on OS X I hit "Add Device" and from there I name the new device. (In this case Korg EMX-1SD) I then click on that and have the Electribe set up within my MIDI studio transmitting and receiving on channels 1-5 and 10. From there I have cables running to and from my interface to the EMX-1SD. I've also checked "MIDI Beat Clock" for both transmitting and receiving. (Still a little lost with those features but no matter what I check it still seems to work fine.) From there I hit "Apply". Then in Logic Pro X, I open up a project and create an instrument track. From there I use Logic's "External Instrument" plug-in under the "Utilities" portion of the plug-in's menu. That'll pop up and from there under "MIDI Destination" I selected the EMX-1SD from the drop down menu, and after that I set the "MIDI Channel" to "All". Then I selected the "Input" to what I have the EMX-1SD plugged in to via my interface. (In my case I have it plugged into on Input 5) NOTE: I noticed that if I want to record a MIDI sequence/pattern into Logic and have it record in as a MIDI region in the "Arrange Window" I needed to set my Electribe's "MIDI Clock" to either "External" or "Auto". Having it set to "Internal" doesn't send MIDI out of the device (Which makes some sense I guess?.. Since it's internal?.. ) So as I see it now, if I want to record the Electribe's MIDI into Logic's arrange window and then have the Electribe only play back that MIDI region(s) I'll need to set the Electribe's clock to "Internal" (Which now to me will be called "Read", lol!) Hope this is helpful to someone out there looking to do something similar! Was such a simple solution.. That goodness for happy accidents! Cheers! P.S. This method only gets me going on one MIDI track playing all parts on the Electribe. Would like to find a streamlined solution for separating each of the parts of the Electribe to their own respective tracks. So if you know of one let me know! I'm sure i'll stumble upon it soon.. But for now this is fine..
  4. Hey all, recycling an old thread as the last one didn't get much play.. lol! I currently am in possession of a Korg Electribe EMX-1SD that's capable of using multiple MIDI channels to generate sound(s). I was curious if any of you had a way to isolate it's capabilities? It has 9 drum parts that can be assigned to a MIDI channel (it's currently set on MIDI channel 10) and then it also has 5 synth parts that can each individually be assigned to their own respective MIDI channel(s) (they're currently set to MIDI channels 1-5). I would love to be able to sequence this machine and route everything so it can be played inside of Logic. I would love to be able to program a beat via the EMX-1SD on the drum parts section (MIDI channel 10) and then be able to select synth parts and play them from the EMX-1SD's keyboard into Logic. I've still yet to find out how to get the EMX-1SD to only respond to Logic's MIDI regions but have recently joined the Electribe/Korg forums and will try that question there. (Unless one of you knows how to accomplish this! Would be extremely helpful!) Hopefully this has all made sense! I'm more then happy to clarify anything that needs further explanation. Hopefully will hear from you soon! Cheers! )
  5. Running line level from the outputs of the the Pro 40 to XLR of the FATSO Jr. And then XLR back into a pair of inputs from the FATSO.
  6. Hey Dan, called you guys up and I think we got everything squared away. The thing that was tricky is that there wasn't anyone at Focusrite (at least at the time I called) that has/had experience with a FATSO Jr. that could chime in with their experiences., which is totally understandable obviously haha! So we basically left it with having a couple methods, with no right or wrong answers. Either run it blue or run it grey, and follow suit from there. I appreciate how you guys reach out! Glad to be apart of the family, thanks again!
  7. P.s. FWIW this cover honestly has done nothing be confuse my learning process, so I'd take David's recommendation and learn as you go. Not trying to slander the product, but after having some hands on experience with it, I haven't really found it to be of much use. Best of luck to those out there on fence or who are reading this! Ta ta for now!
  8. Yeahhhh, I figured as much. Luckily it wasn't a huge investment to at least try it out. I'm the same way where it suits me better to learn as I go for my own needs. It's already started to stretch out a little as well and not sit flat, lol! And I can't tell if you're poking fun at me with that link you provided, I can type words just fine! LOL! Guess i'll consider this taking a hit for the team, and hope this will help anyone out there with their decisions in buying something like this. To each their own though! Hahaha!
  9. Still haven't dove that deep yet. At the moment i've got the Mk2 and so far i've set up templates corresponding to the notes that match up to anything I use in Logic. Like Ultrabeat, etc. Still need to see what the manual holds, because from what I can see there's a lot of power that i've not yet been able to access. Still, fairy-simple layouts. Definitely looking forward to getting the most of my Mk2 as it's a powerful MIDI device, with a lot of functionality.
  10. Hey there Triplets, I recently switched from using the MOTU to using the Focusrite Pro 40. I've gotten the FATSO linked up to where things work but I was left with a question for Focusrite. When setting up the FATSO I need to set the levels to where when bypassed there's not a difference in volume, but what i've been finding is when I try this with the Pro 40 the 40 is hooked up so that it sends a unity signal straight to the FATSO. So when hit bypass on the FATSO everything jumps to be too loud to try and set signals. Hopefully this is all making sense. Basically i've set output's 3-4 on Pro 40's Mix Control to grey (which is what sends the unity signal to the fatso) rather than set them to blue where I would be controlling the gain via the gain encoders on the front panel. So besides that I seem to have things up and running. Not sure whether it would be better for me to set the gain via the encoders and then try to set the FATSO up that way. Either way, i'm sure i'll figure it out when I talk to Focusrite, or maybe someone on here could chime in with how they like to run there signals to outboard gear. Thanks again! Hopefully my ramble made some sense! Hahaha
  11. So I found out the issues I were having was that the FATSO's knobs aren't calibrated "equally" and this is what was giving me the leveling issues.
  12. Been digging' my Maschine Mk2. Runnin' that in MIDI Mode and then mapping stuff out via Controller Editor is pretty sweet. But I only do this as Maschine's my only pad-based controller. And I have other applications for it, such as using it standalone.
  13. No one? Bump. I've genuinely looked up each of these commands, and some of them have got an idea. Still haven't got my head fully wrapped around them.
  14. Hey there everyone, just bought one of these silicon covers for my keyboard and I must say i'm digging it in it's own right. Some of the keyboard shortcuts though I'm not really aware of their function as I tried to use it and see what it does as well as I also tried looking it up to see if the command was mapped, which they all seem to be. Curious peoples thoughts on these covers? Anyone else using one? They have a 30 day money back, so I'm currently just feeling it out for the time being. Some of the commands that I'm not so sure on are things like: "Apply Quantize" (Control + Q) When I looked this one up it was linked to "Apply Quantize Destructively". I read a post about the difference but I didn't see anything happen when I tried using it like when I use "Q" over a MIDI region. "Open In Audio File Editor" (Control + W) When I tried using this one with a selected audio region, it didn't work. The command seems pretty self explanatory. Curious if I'm doing something wrong?.. "Splice" (Shift + Command + V) Not too sure about this one, something about cutting?.. "Snip" (Shift + Command + S) Same as splice.. "Group Clutch" (Shift + G) When I try this command, the only thing that happens is it activations "Mix > I/O Assignments" and then nothing happens. "Colored Regions" (Shift + C) When I do this, and have 1 region selected it selects the other regions on the track, selecting all the regions for the said track. Seems like a silly command, not sure if i'm using this one right. "Discard" (Command + .) Seems like this command closes out the window, like say I have preferences up and I want to close it I'd do this command. But in the key commands section of Logic it says that it's used for recording. Like when recording something and you don't like it hit Command + . and then it will discard the recording sending the playhead back to where you had it initially. I think that's it for my confusion, I know it's a lot but I'm hopefully someone out there could clarify some of these (if not all) for workflow purposes as I'm sure these are very handy. Especially since these are the ones chosen to be printed on the silicon cover. Many, many, thanks in advance and I hope you guys had an awesome weekend. Cheers.
