  1. Hi I'm having issues with SPDIF. I'm working with tech support of my hardware providers but I thought some of you Mac smarty pantses in here might have some experience in this area. Novation UltraNova synth > SPDIF cable > Saffire Pro 40 Interface > MacBook Pro Retina (OS X 10.10) (MixControl software) I have to use Saffire MixControl software to set Sync Source to Locked but it won't. It flips back and forth between Locked and No Lock. I have ensured that Sample Rate matches on both synth and interface. I've tried a second SPDIF cable. Focusrite tech support got the Saffire to lock to itself by running the cable from the devices In to its Out. This points to a possible Mac problem but I don't have a way to try a different computer easily. Any thoughts are appreciated. Paul
  2. Hi Eriksimon Same problem whether Akai or internal audio...
  3. Yes, all drivers current, and the Logic project (as opposed to the Mainstage one) was done from scratch, attempting to copy the reverbs etc from Mainstage.
  4. Here's the Logic screenshot. Here I was trying to duplicate the settings of the patch from Mainstage.
  5. Thanks for the reply Atlas007. At the moment, it's only happening on the one project. Well two actually, one in Logic and one in Mainstage. I have been away from music making for a while and am just getting back to it so not too many projects on the go right now. Have not tried smc reset. Will give it a shot. I try not to run other apps. Novation Automap server runs in background. Finder. Occasionally an editor for 12 step. Turning off antennas made no difference. Screenshots of Logic and Mainstage attached. Mainstage has a couple of other channel strips but I couldn't figure out how to get them all in the view.
  6. Hi I know this is an often discussed topic in this forum. I've read through everything but would like another kick at the can. Some of the threads seem to conclude a certain batch of Macs had problems like this, but I don't think I really read a conclusion. If I a mistaken kindly point me to the relevant thread. I'm having clicks and pops using either Logic Pro 9.1.8 (playing a software instrument) or MainStage 3. It's happening in Logic in a song with a single track, mainly during fast playing. Same thing with MainStage. Opening the CPU/HD window while playing back the file shows activity in only one of the four cores and barely above 25% or so. I've tried completely maxing out the buffer settings to no avail. Also tried tweaking settings for 'Processing Threads'. I've played back the file using only the built in outputs, which hopefully eliminates audio interface or driver issues. I am saving the project files to an external hard drive. I upgraded to Yosemite today to see if it would help but it didn't. I have tried unchecking the 'open in 32 bit...' option for Logic. Currently this happens using the Sculpture instrument and a couple of auxiliary channels with effects, including two separate instances of Space Designer (dang it sounds good). The MainStage manual says something about not running more than one at a time because it's a CPU hog, but wouldn't I see a problem in CPU/HD if that were the case? I suppose adding RAM is an option, but surely 8GB should be enough to play one track without issues? Any suggestions or comments before I try to do battle with Apple support? Not sure how I'll do there given the computer is about 18 months old. Thanks for reading.
  7. Huh, as it turns out there is a thread about this on the Akai site. Should've gone there first.
  8. jordito, thanks for your reply, and for pointing me to the place to put my signature. I actually couldn't find where to do that and that's why I put it in my message body. My first thought was driver also, but I just got the equipment a few days ago, and got the new drivers from Akai website at that time. I will look again, but I'm pretty sure I'm all up to date.
  9. Hi I'm new to Mac and Logic Pro, but have been using DAW's on Windows for quite a while. I have a brand new MacBook Pro and am running Logic Pro 9. The machine is very clean at this point. I have only downloaded Logic and done a bit of web browsing on it. 2.5 GHz i5, 8GB 1600 MHZ DDR3 251GB Flash Storage OSX 10.8.3 Akai EIE Pro Audio Interface with an Audio Technica AT2020 mic Periodically I will get a massive blast of hiss (i.e. not the background-y kind) when I have input monitoring turned on. The odd thing is, it will appear suddenly while I'm in the middle of working on a project. The solution seems to be to close and restart Logic, which is kind of a pain. Any thoughts on what this could be? Thanks Paul
  10. Hi I'm brand new to to Logic Pro 9 and to the whole Mac world for that matter. Be gentle. I've managed to create a sequence I like a lot using the 'Cloud Chords' patch, which I guess is an EXS24 patch. It's found in 05 Synthesizers/08 Chords in the Library, This plays a chord per single note played. Stumbling my way around the editor I managed to find out that four samples are mapped to the keyboard. They are called 'New chords 02.aif', '...03.aif' etc, through to '...05'aif'. Anyway, these are complex chords and I'd like to know exactly what they are so I can build bass and other instruments around them, but of course I can't tell this from the samples. Can anyone help? Possibly someone with monster ears, or is there a way to contact someone at Apple or whatever? All thoughts and suggestions welcomed... Thanks. Great forum here... Paul
