  1. Thanks for the help guys! Such a stupid and simple question that I couldn't think of the answer to.
  2. What i'm referring to is done a lot, in particularly with EDM music where a synth chord build-up starts out with short notes and builds up into legato notes with no separation between notes? Is it some kind of gate automation that they're using? And while i'm on the subject of automation, what plug-in is commonly used for pitching up synth build-ups, etc?
  3. Hey, can you elaborate on what you mean exactly? So you create an additional Bus channel and send how much of the signal from the channel with EQ automation to that channel?
  4. Hey David, That's unfortunate to hear but I believe it. I would go with a 3rd party alternative however being as how i'm a very heavy Sylenth1 user, and that i've heard that 3rd party workarounds have been very problematic for a lot of people, it's been discouraging. I also still use Komplete Ultimate 8 and the Waves 7 plug-ins and a ton of others.
  5. I really want to buy Logic Pro X and your book, but until Apple makes an update that will allow me to use the thousands of dollars in 32-bit plug-ins I have, I simply can't.
  6. I've been getting loud, ear-piercing pops when using EQ automation, in particular hi-cut EQ automation. Oftentimes when I click on a MIDI note but the playhead isn't BEHIND that note, I get this loud pop / feedback and I know it's because the DAW is trying to catch back up with the different frequency automation where i'm clicking on the MIDI note. My question is, does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution to fixing that other than muting the Parametric EQ plug-in when i'm not using it?
  7. Hello, I fixed this simple issue before, but it's been such a long time that it's happened that I completely forgot how to fix it. But right now when I try to play any loaded cut region samples in the EXS24 editor, it's showing the key is held down and won't play anything unless I manually press the key down with my mouse in the editor. Also, there's a "/" (slash) going through the note symbol in the Transport Bar. Is there a correlation between that?
  8. I think what my friend meant by "Bar 0" was moving the bar behind "bar 1." I've come to the conclusion that it has something to do with playback, as it cracks and pops in the arrange window on and off, but it sounds completely clear and with no spikes or peaks within the sample editor. It happens even if I open an empty project and just record a quick vocal check. Any other suggestions? I really don't understand what else the problem could be. Thank you.
  9. HI! I'm a friend of the poster with a little more information on the problem we are having. =) -All drivers and software are up to date and running properly (as far as we know). -Recording anywhere beside bar 1 (bar 0) emits perfect playback. -Sample editor files show no crackle/digital distortion when recorded anywhere in the project, including at bar 1/bar 0 -Playback crackles (digital distortion) when an audio file is moved to bar 1 after being recorded anywhere else in the project It seems the issue is directly related to playback *only*. I've checked to make sure all hardware and software is running the same sample rate, and changed logic's buffer size to no avail. I'm not sure where else to look for preferences or settings that might adversely affect playback in this manner. Please advise!!! -adubthedrummer
  10. I'm sorry what I meant by latency rate was that I set the recording delay to -5000 samples. As far as I know, and from checking the Apogee website, I have all the current and proper drivers installed for the Ensemble as well for OS X Lion.
  11. Ok, sorry! I just added all the information I needed to hopefully.
  12. Not trying to be rude, but what other information do you need?
  13. Hey everyone, I am having a problem when listening back to my vocal recordings via both my monitors and headphones. The problem persisting is crackling and pop/click noises in the initial few words of my playback. For example if i'm doing a level check recording, "Testing, testing, 1 2 3. Testing, testing 1 2 3" The first part will playback with crackles and pop sounds in the recording, and then will smooth out and sound normal for the second part. At first I thought it might have to do with the buffer size. I had it set to 512 in Logic, and then switched it to 1024. When that didn't work, I messed around with the latency rate, and also made sure I was recording in 24 bit. I confirmed these, but still had the same problems. To give you a visual of my signal chain, I am running a Neumann U87 into an LA-610 Mk II, and then through an Apogee Ensemble into Logic. When I am input monitoring, there is no crackles or pops of any kind, it's only from recorded playback. At this point I noticed there was a low hum/static sound coming from both of my monitors, even when there is not sound coming out, and I wondered if it had something to do with that. So I tried listening through my headphones, and the same crackle/pop recorded playback sound comes through there as well. All of my gear is plugged into a surge protector, and I don't know if maybe I have a bad surge protector? Or if there's something wrong with the speakers? I'm hoping it's a minor obvious issue that I just don't realize. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks! -Jason
  14. Thank you guys for your help! I will definitely use those methods! -Jason
  15. Typically I don't quantize audio drum samples, as it's easier to just snap them in place where I want them. However, when I DO want to quantize for say, a shuffle beat type feel, the only way i've ever known how to do it is by using the Event List. The problem is, it doesn't always seem to quantize when i'm pressing the quantize button. Does anyone know of any other ways to quantize audio drum samples? Thank you! -Jason
