  1. I will try your technique tonight or tomorrow Eriksimon. New trick to the arsenal; thanks for that!
  2. Thanks Atlas007. I tried that just now and couldn't get an acceptable result. I grabbed a similar note from a previous bar and replaced it with the offending one, which works. Struggling getting the crossfades right to avoid a slight chorus effect. Still open to ideas if you can think of another approach worth trying. Thanks again Atlas007, I really appreciate your suggestion.
  3. I've browsed through old threads on the forum and still can't figure out the recommended way to remove three pops towards the end of a keeper take. I see the pop in the waveform and I've unsuccessfully tried to redraw the form using the pencil tool. I draw left to right and it seems to move the waveform rather than redraw it. David made it look so easy herehttp://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60016. So I have two questions that I would love your help with: 1. How do I correctly use the pencil tool in the waveform editor? and 2. What's the best way to remove a pop in the middle of a sparse arrangement? EDIT: Here's 4 second section with one of the pops that I hope to remove: https://soundcloud.com/dripline/pop-in-recording/s-HiUMb
  4. Joining the chorus here. I picked up a Mackie MCU Pro last fall and it's an amazing piece of hardware to augment LPX.
  5. I recently picked up Nektar Panorama P4 and I've been very happy with it so far. The same basic model comes as a controller only or with 25, 49, or 61 keys. The P4 is the 49 key version and it comes with a color LCD display and the usual knobs, big faders (one is a 100mm motorized fader if you hook up a second USB cable to power it), and 12 pads. Nektar is now mapped to Logic Pro X and it gives you hassle-free access to plugins, using the knobs to tweak smart controls, select tracks in your project and much more. I used to have the Axiom Pro and I haven't looked back.
  6. This thread is getting really long so this link might've been mentioned before. In any case, worth stopping by http://www.pluginboutique.com/free and drilling in on the AU plugs. At the moment there are about a dozen AU plugs on offer, including the Bittersweet (v3) transient shaper which is really nice.
  7. I've experienced a similar issue as well and I too followed every step along the way. For me the issue seems to be when using a Roland TD-4 drum controller (midi channel 1 set up both on the drum brain and in the appropriate track in LPX) to trigger a drum plugin and playing a synth with the midi controller (set to channel 5 on the synth and in the appropriate track in LPX). I also use the MIDI Monitor app to verify that the incoming sounds come in on the right channel. Logic Pro X seems to get the two confused unless I have the drum track selected and only then does it work, but it is a so-so workaround. Any suggestions or ideas on the subject is truly appreciated.
  8. The amp designer has a slew of amps built in including amps looking like Fender (tweed, blackface, brown), Mesa Boogie, HiWatt, and many more. If you play around with the amp designer you should quickly be able to select either pre-made combos or mix and match heads and speaker configurations.
  9. For one of my projects I've started to bring the studio to the stage and I really like the results. Last night we had 12 audio and 2 midi channels (drums and synth) running with plugs on each and it worked (and recorded) without a glitch for a two hour set. Gear: MBP 2.6Ghz i7, 16GB ram, apogee quartet and focus rite octopre, recorded via thunderbolt to a solid state drive. I use the iPad via bluetooth for on-the-fly level changes. No Waves plugs, but I use a combination of Logic's native plugs and a bunch of other third-party offerings. For this band it makes so much sense: we play live organic electronica. For more classic setups I'd prefer to plug in my guitar into a tube amp. I'm still learning and improving the setup and workflow after each show. Yesterday's was the best so far and I'm very pleased with the sound that came out of the PA. If you're thinking about it and have the gear, do it!
  10. For your price target I really like the Audio Technica M50. I rarely sit with headphones on for as long as you indicate, but I know all about uncomfortable cans and the M50 sit right and comfortable on my ears. Sound is very subjective of course—I find the M50s to sound clear and revealing and use them regularly to assess my mixes as an alternate to my monitors. I have not tried the updated M50s that were just released. I suspect you might be able to score a deal on the 'old' version soon. I bought mine for $110 or so. I agree with triplets, try out a bunch of pairs.
  11. Yup, that did the trick—match the actual input on the audio interface. Thank you for help and I apologize for being an idiot. Time to stu.u.u.u.utterrrr.rrr.rr
  12. Thanks for the screenshot, Jordi. It appears I have the same setup (see my screenshot). I'm still not hearing anything during record, but as soon as it is recorded and I hit play it works like it should. I'm not sure if there is a setting in Stutter Edit that would cut off the sound during record? The audio track "Vocal" is set with no effects and to no output. The Stutter Edit's side chain on the midi track is set to the correct audio channel and its output is set to stereo.
  13. I followed your instructions and I was not able to pull off live vocals with the effect at the same time. I don't have an issue with a pre-recorded audio track and then playing that back and triggering Stutter Edit 'live'—that works great. I am also able to record a vocal track live and at the same time, having selected and record-enabled the Stutter Edit track, the midi notes are recorded on that track, but the Stutter Edit effect is only audibly applied during playback, not while it is happening. Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks the help, I truly appreciate it!
  14. Jordi, thank you for typing the instructions. I'll give it a go tomorrow during the day and hopefully it works. I didn't set the audio track to No Output last time, had it set to stereo. I would've thought both the pure audio signal and the effect (when applied) would stutter. I'll follow yours to the t and report how it goes. Thanks again! nord
  15. I've got Stutter Edit set up per the instructions as a midi controlled effect. I can trigger it from a separate pre-recorded audio track and it works perfectly. Using the same two-track (one audio, one midi with SE) set up I am trying to trigger it with live vocals. The effect triggers, but the sound is not audibly affected. If I hit record while singing live and trigger it, midi notes are recorded to the SE track, but the effect doesn't become audible until playback. I see from past threads that a few people on here use Stutter Edit. Anybody happen to know how to make it work with live vocals?
