  1. Amazing, thanks guys, I'll try out both these ideas.
  2. Hey everyone, My question might have been asked but I couldn't really find an answer on here. I'm going to be mixing a track for a client that is not in town. I have to ship quickly and have other projects on the burner so I don't want to waste time going back and forth with revisions and would rather have him "in the studio" with me virtually as I finish the mix if it's possible. Have any of you figured out a way to do this? I have a business internet line so my upload speed won't be a limiting factor (I don't think, ~20mbps up) and the client's connection is strong as well. I'm not looking for a perfect sounding, uncompressed audio stream, just something that will convey 80% of what I'm hearing, if that makes sense, maybe in the 256-320kbps range. I remember reading somewhere that Serban Ghenea does something similar but alas I'm not on the multi-million dollar budget that he's on ha! Thanks for any help you might have!
  3. Damn. Must have been a fluke. Back at approximately $350 here.
  4. So I ran across this sale on pluginboutique.com selling the Waves Gold Bundle for $153.56. Am I missing something? How can it be so cheap? http://www.pluginboutique.com/product/39-FX-Bundle/143-Gold-Bundle
  5. Yes you can simply drag the folders to the external drive and then click the add library on the libraries tab to add it from the new destination. Once it works, delete the old library with the old path (or you may have to do this first, not sure). If you use the database make sure it updates there (or it might give you the option to add it to the database when you add the library, can't remember). What I would do is move the library to your desktop as a backup then copy it from there to the external drive. That way you can test and make sure everything works on the external drive and you're happy with the performance. Then delete the desktop backup (or better, back it up somewhere else, I've had external drives fail and rebuilding a large library is a real pain).
  6. Hey Marius, I moved my samples for kontakt to another drive (I did it for space not performance reasons), I've found the samples load a little slower than when it was on the SSD in the computer (also the external drive is 5400rpm so that slowed things). If your glyph is faster or the same speed as your internal drive things should go faster (usb 3.0?) and NI actually recommend that you do move all libraries to an external drive for a stability and performance boost. You can move the instrument's entire library onto the external HD and then browse to the instruments in Studio drummer. I don't have studio drummer but if it's anything like NI's other applications, it should be no problem at all. There should be a menu in the options of studio drummer that lets you pick what folders make up it's database, just add the new path and rebuild the database.
  7. Thanks Chellstrom, I thought so. I don't suppose there's a folder out there that I can rearrange to trick logic into ordering plug ins the way I want?
  8. I suspect this has been asked about LPX before (I believe it wasn't possible in LP9) but in Pro Tools I could arrange plug ins so that all my compressors were grouped together, and my plugins were grouped by type. Is this possible now in LPX?
  9. Hi guys, is it possible to do a crossfade between audio on different tracks? Were they to be on the same track, audio would overlap, I'm basically trying to save myself the hassle of having to bounce down all the clips with their effects and then put them on a new track. I read it wasn't possible in LP9 but I'm hoping I can do it in X. Thanks for your help! Here's an image of what I mean, a X fade between these clips. http://i43.tinypic.com/14lnix2.png
  10. Hey guys, sorry if the solution has been posted elsewhere, I'm still much of a noobie to Logic X. Is there a way to automate a parameter for multiple tracks simultaneously, without bussing them and automating that track? In my head I see myself automating the parameter on one track, and seeing it appear on the other tracks as well. Is this possible? Thanks for any help in the matter, take care.
  11. Hey man, I have an old mbp laying around too. It's an early 2008 pre-unibody mbp with 2.4ghz core 2 duo with 4gigs of ram and it's running logic x just as well as logic 9 (maybe even faster). I did update it to mavericks though, which sped up everything, ML was a nightmare on it. So yeah if you don't have compatibility issues with mavericks for your other applications, you could update to mavericks and use logic x fine.
  12. Thanks David. Found it in the trash... Duh.
  13. Hey guys, Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, I tried searching and couldn't find anything on the topic. When I bounce something (say a 50 minute track) to just mp3, it still says that it requires 1gb of space. Sure enough, even though the final track is only 60 some megs, my HD has 1 GB less space. Where can I find this 1gb file? The project itself is only 2mb. Thanks for any help!
