  1. Hey David, thank you for running through this one with me. I guess to clarify better, I'm specifically having problems seeing ALL the parameters that are being automated on a particular track. TBH I cant as much figure out to see the parameter I've automated previously to one I've just finished (assuming I'm automating two or more parameters). Additionally, does Logic allow you to see all things that are being automated at the same time? Also, I figured I'd need to educate myself regarding the different automation modes. I'll use latch and it will act differently than write.. etc. I'm trying to figure out which one is the most "basic" automation mode. Thank you for taking the time David and home you had a great weekend!
  2. While coming from Ableton, the learning curve to Logic Pro X hasn't been too bad.. except for the Automation side. In ableton, there's a pretty specific way to go about automating parameters, especially when dealing with third party VST's. DOes anyone know off hand any good reading material, videos' tutorials, etc on learning how to fully understand Automation in LPX so it can be integrated easily into my workflow? I'm particularly having issues figuring out how to automate more than one thing per track. I've also been told that there are multiple ways to approach Automation in LPX and wanted to see if there was a preferred way amongst you guys. ANy help would be very much appreciated!
  3. Hey guys, having quite a bit of trouble with this one for some reason and could use some help with this: How would I go about assigning a knob on my MIDI controller to work as a modwheel (just a basic mod wheel like on any MIDI keyboard) that works for ALL tracks? I know the MIDI learn function for the basics but can't figure out how to assign a knob as a mod wheel.. which is important to me because my MIDI keyboard I'm using currently doesn't have one!
  4. Hey guys! I've run into an issue I'm hoping some of you experience Logic users can help me with.. I've created a project in 4/4 time but would like to create one track/channel in a 3/4 (for builds, etc). Ideally I'd like to be able to do this in Ultrabeat's Step Sequencer but cannot find any option to do this. Additionally, when I go to the Piano Roll on that particular Track and try to adjust it to 3/4, it ends up changing the grid on the Entire project to 3/4... which is not what I wanted to do. So in short, want to create projects in 4/4 Grid and be able to change the grid to 3/4 on particular Channels and not have it shift the grid on the rest of the project. Anyone know? Again, a solution inside Ultrabeat's Step Sequencer would be ideal . Thank you!!!!!
  5. I feel like I've got a decent grasp on the concept of using Bus channels, Sends, Aux, etc in Logic 10 but am still confused on this part of the concept: From what I understand so far, when you send the audio on a particular channel to a Bus channel (that has for example, a Reverb effect on it), the original software instrument/audio channel will still output the dry sound and the Aux/Bus channel that said channel is sending to will produce the sound of the wet signal. Assuming that I'm not wrong thus far - what would I do if I wanted to send a few audio channels to a Bus with a Low Pass filter on it in attempt to automate the LP filter to slowly fade out the sounds on these particular channels. In theory, this wouldn't work because the dry signal is still playing their original audio tracks and not being affected by the filter on the bus.. so I assume that this wouldn't have any effect on the sounds sent to that Bus at all. So still assuming that I don't yet have something wrong here - how would I go about routing a group of multiple tracks to one Channel that would have a low pass filter on it that I could use to fade sound in and out w/automation. Is there a way to do group automation? I hope I worded that question so it could be understood as it's a bit hard to explain.. basically I'm looking to find a way to apply a single filter to multiple channels without having both a dry and wet signal because I want to fade sound out or in. Thanks in advance for any help with this!!
  6. Ruari thank you, that video was extremely useful. I've tried watching Arturia's videos on setting up the Spark w/ Logic but it's just a silent screen/visual follow along with really bad recording (can't see what they're doing). I didn't even know about the drag and drop feature until I saw this. Should be very helpful for me so thank you again!
  7. Thanks for the reply. It's a bit of an odd plugin. I'm thinking resampling the sound from it to an audio channel might work. Does anyone off the top of their head know how to send sound from a midi track to an audio track?
  8. Sorry Eric, on #3 I'm realizing that I was referring to the Transpose MIDI FX plugin.
  9. Thank you Jordi and Eric... You guys are both so helpful. I just got a set of flash cards and wrote the (pertinent) Logic key commands on them so I won't be bothering you guys with those types of Q's anymore. =)
  10. David, thank you so much, this was super helpful!! Not only did I learn one more thing about Logic, but read up on time signatures/scales and ended up learning a little theory as well... I'm feeling like that's something I need to put a lot more of my time into. Thank you again and hope your weekend's been great!!
  11. Jordi, THANK YOU for being so helpful.. not just with this post but on the many I've posted over the past few weeks. Your help is so genuinely appreciated over here and it's taken me a long way! Will definitely be looking into what you linked in the post to try and understand all this better. Thank you again!!
  12. I've been using a drum machine (Arturia Spark) with my previous DAW just like any other VST/AU plugin but am having trouble getting it to work with Logic 10. I create a software instrument track, load the Arturia Spark drum machine onto it, and hit record in Logic but it doesn't record any of the audio. Has anybody had a problem or know how to make this work? It's worth noting that the Spark has it's own sound library, record, play, stop, etc buttons.. it's pretty much built as a standalone but works as an AU/VST as well. Also, I'm enabling record in both the Spark AU and in Logic. And when I say I get no sound I mean Logic doesn't even see whatever data the Spark is trying to send to it because the channel doesn't even show as much as an empty region when I record. Any help with this would be so much appreciated!!!! =)
  13. Is WIFI the only way to get Logic Remote to communicate with Logic? Are there any alternatives? (ie MIDI interface).
