  1. I'm very happy with the SSD drive. Never could really get enough good info/feedback about fusion drive and it seems like solid state is the future. I would not bother with 5400 for anything but storage/backup. And I've heard great things on this forum about USB 3 so that's my setup. Best of luck. Britta
  2. Just opened up some other sessions and the playhead was working until I tried to export MIDI. Everything was working fine this morning.
  3. Yes, just created a new project and recorded some midi. Both problems.
  4. Thanks David! I'm still using Logic 9. Trashing preferences did not fix it. Also, the playhead is not moving during playback. I only found these three Logic Pro files in Preferences folder com.apple.logic.pro.plist com.apple.logic.pro.cs com.apple.logic.pro.LSSharedFileList.plist
  5. I just created a new user account and was able to export MIDI file that way. But, of course, there are a bunch of other things that aren't working/set up in this new account, so I'm hoping I can get this working on my regular account. If not, then can you tell me how to avoid this problem in the future? Thanks, Britta
  6. Yes, I've selected the region/track.
  7. When I click on "Export > Selection as MIDI file", Logic just flashes and nothing happens. No dialogue appears to ask how I want to save file.
  8. Hey triplets! Do you mean you store all of your samples and loops on internal drive?
  9. I've got everything up and running and now just need a good external USB 3 drive. I have a USB 3 drive 500 GB 7200rpm, but I guess I should use that for samples and loops (BFD, Arturia, Stylus RMX) and get a new one for projects. And I guess SSD is the way to go for projects?
  10. I hooked everything up yesterday and after everything working fine for a day, I suddenly got a "lost signal" from ViewSonic display. Unplugged and replugged HDMI cable but nothing worked. Then, about 5 minutes later, it just came on again but I had to sign in. Has anyone else had this issue? UPDATE: I think I solved the problem. System Preferences> Security & Privacy> uncheck "Require password for sleep and screen saver" Also, adjusted the Energy Saver settings not to put computer to sleep.
  11. I just bought it!! Thanks! I don't need to make Disk Images of all the Logic Studio content, right?
  12. I'm creating disk images of my Logic Studio Upgrade Pro DVDs. Do I need to do this with my older Logic Pro upgrade DVDs, as well?
  13. No DisplayPort or MiniDisplayPort on the ViewSonic. Only HDMI and DVI (with HDCP) and VGA inputs. I've never had a separate display so not sure what the best connection would be. MiniDisplayPort? I've seen used Apple Cinema Displays for under $500, as well. But I guess they are just too old already? No USB 3....
  14. Okay, I'm back! Thanks again Eric and Triplets! for being so helpful!
