  1. For the last 21 months I've been trying to get great stereo sound in my home studio AND in my car stereo too. (And don't say "EQ" that is not the answer.) I have been seriously considering just dropping Logic Pro and switching to another DAW that seems to work perfectly on it's own when as I studied the other DAW I suddenly saw what that other DAW was doing differently then Logic Pro and it hit me that there is a built in fatal flaw in logic Pro which cannot be ignored if you want good stereo in the studio and in the car. I've been asking the geniuses at Logic Pro and the geniuses on all these boards for help and all I have ever gotten back is "EQ" or that "You're (I'm) stupid and want fast results without working for it". Well. I worked for it but I now because of the shabby treatment i have received on this board I refuse to pass on how I can take the lousy Steinway samples that Logic pro provides and turn them into fantastic, super real, wide and deep stereo live presence piano in the studio and in the car. I post this to say one thing! I am furious at Logic Pro's built in fatal flaw that has cost me 21 months of my life that I can never get back. Do you know how much money that equals to? That I lost trying to learn a flawed program? If you also recognize the difference in sound quality between Logic Pro in the studio and in the car then I'm going to suggest that you switch to a different DAW and throw Logic Pro away. Seriously, Don't do what I did and waste 21 months of your life trying to get LP to do what other DAWS do automatically without those other users even knowing about it. I wish I had read this post before I bought LP and just bought a different DAW that works in the studio and in the car automatically. I would be money ahead even if the other DAW does cost much more then LP at first. Do not respond to this post as I will probably never return to this forum again to read it. Just switch DAWS if you can't figure out how to get great stereo sound in your car (AND IT ISN'T EQ!!!).
  2. Does anyone know if Logic Pro is coming out with a fix or if there is a AU patch that will put a second pan knob on the mixer strips? Getting really tired of having to create a second track ie. mixer strip so I can pan my tracks. Thinking of dropping LP altogether and going with Pro Tools instead.
  3. Dear anp27: Since you have trouble both UNDERSTANDING AND READING, I will type this REAL SLOW>>>>>>> I am disgusted with BOTH the piano samples AND the results I hear when I listen back. OK? I don't need you trolling me every post. Now, ONCE AGAIN!! I ONLY WANT RESPONSES FROM THE PEOPLE WHO CAN POLISH THE STEINWAY SAMPLES. This DOES NOT include your comments over and over again. Can you polish the Steinway samples? Yes or no? If yes post address to the detailed video so we can all learn from you. if not STOP TALKING! Thank you.
  4. Someone said that the Apple loops were all created using LP. I think it would be a fine idea if the people who know how to do this would make videos of how they did do it. Because all the books and macprovideos teach is key commands. Well, learning a key command and taking the worthless LP Steinway samples and turning them into something as good as the loops are not the same thing. Once again I say "If you know how to take LP Steinway samples and turn them into something as good as the loops then please share this information, because THAT'S why people buy LP, NOT to learn the KEY COMMANDS!!!!!!" If you know how to polish the Steinway turds then please respond to this thread. If you don't then PLEASE! stfu. Thank you!
  5. Thanks to all the Know Nothing Trolls , Smart Mouths and Masters of the Obvious that can't contain their two cents worth and immediately explode with their false accusations that doesn't even apply to the context of my post. IF YOU know how to take LP's Steinway piano from "worthless" to "Fantastic Stage Presence" Please make a DETAILED YOUTUBE Video of HOW YOU DID IT so we may all benefit from your great wisdom. All other responses not directed at revealing this information including how lazy I am need not FU**ING RESPOND! Thank you.
  6. Thanks to everybody but you don't get it at all. Not one of you. Have you guys ever noticed how clear, bold, full and "REAL" Apple loops sound? Now play a piece with their steinway piano. Notice the HUGE downgrade is CLARITY,BOLDNESS,FULLNESS and REAL PRESENCE???? If LP can put in professional quality LOOPS.... then why can't they put in a professional sounding PIANO??? Why should a PROFESSIONAL SOUNDING PIANO be so hard? And NO! I am not looking for "FAST" results! I am only looking for a professional sounding piano and yes I did buy Ivory steinway piano and those samples have way too much low end in them too! Can't anybody produce a sampled piano that sounds and feels like the real thing? And LP strings sound like crap too!
  7. I've been working on Logic Pro for the past 15 months now. Have bought the LP workbook, have watches a hundred hours or more of YouTube videos and the best that i can do is only come up with a sound that is about 1/2 of what the professional recordings have for width, depth, field and clarity. Does Logic pro REALLY produce professional quality recordings? I think NOT!
  8. I can't believe what I'm reading here! No way to limit stereo spread? Try the DIRECTION METER!!!!! I always open the dirmeter and then the multimeter and use the stereo width slider to widen or narrow the stereo filed! If my Correlation meter tells me I am in the red zone (out of phase) then I narrow the stereo width by moving the slider to .80 or .50 or as required! You can also shift the entire direction (center of the sound) turning the direction knob left or right (TRUE PAN) which also fixes correlation meter problems. The Pan knob on your channel strip will also shift (affect) stereo width as will the stereo input bar on the top of the channel strip which goes from stereo to dead mono. Correlation meter facts: +1 = full mono, middle of the blue field = max stereo width ( full use of both channels), the red zone means phase inversion which can result in a weak signal output, giving your listeners a headache when they listen on their stereo system and in the absolute worst case full sound attenuation (no sound at all). YouTube "PHASE" The DIRMETER gives you fingertip control over stereo width. Always use the two plugins together. DIRMETER on top of the MultiMeter.
  9. To David: Any chance of you making a YouTube Video showing how to start with a (George Winston) piano song ("Woods" for example) and using the EXS24 sampler ending up with a fully playable grand piano? Sorry but the built in LP grand piano's just ain't doing it for me. Thanks.
  10. Hello: Looking especially for these free AU plug ins: Valve Tape Maxx Bass Stereo Widener Thanks!
  11. Dear Mr. Morrison: There is nothing in the world more depressing than to buy a new plug-in and the thing doesn't work. I've been sick to my stomach for the past 24 hours over this white noise. Your advice was spot on except for how to open the Custom Shop. I had to go to YouTube and do a search on this plug in to see and the guy who put that video on actually opened the Custom Shop. It was like a one in a million thing... I never would have clicked on what I thought was a LOGO! Anyway, there was the gear menu and it fixed my stuff and I have you to thank for it because I never would have found it by myself. May God bless and good karma follow you as you have no idea how much I was suffering because of this. Thanks again. PS: all the other "free Stuff" they gave me is still hissing white noise but that is because I didn't buy that other stuff. I guess they want to let people test it out but not to be able to use it in recordings until they buy it. Thanks again, your advise was perfect.
  12. all your libriaries, search YouTube for all kinds of ideas that worked. The best thing to do is to have two internal SSD drives, with your OS,Logic pro App and all the libraries on the boot SSD, and only have the song folders on the second SSD. The theory being that the program will load the required library parts and plug ins, leaving the second SSD for write all your changes as no single drive can both read and write at the same time. So, separate the two functions on the two drives!
  13. I got hiss in my NT1A (only have one) until I turned down the recording level. But it sounds to me like you need to separate the two mics buy distance, that they are actually too close to each other and then I would also turn down the input levels. With My Rode I never record louder than half way up the level meter and then boost it with an adlimiter. This should do it.
  14. Last night I bought IK Multimedia's Soft Clipper plug in for use with Logic Pro X 10.0.7, and as soon as I activate the plug in there is this background hiss (exactly like white noise) that registers on the meters for about 3 seconds then disappears for about 10 seconds then comes back for 3 seconds then disappears... but it keeps repeating for as long as I have the plug in active. Has anyone else had this experience and if so how did you resolve it? Strangely enough, it does not happen with Pro Tools, but it does with Logic Pro and that is what I use.
  15. As it turns out the glitch is in the M-Audio external sound card. There is a knob which controls the amount of playback from Logic Pro back through the M-Audio box to my monitor speakers. This knob also calls for the plug-ins from Logic Pro to apply. It is these plug-ins that are being called for that create the latency and the gaps in recording. I now turn this knob all the way down (no sound comes out of the M-Audio box now) so I plug my headphones directly into my MAC headphone jack so I can hear the music track as I sing along with it using M-Audio as the imput source while the MAC headphone jack is the output. It works, there is no more latency or broken gaps in the vocals when I record them. Hope this helps someone else who has teh same issues.
